Mcbaise - Water Slide Animatic ( With unfinished audio )
Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 жов 2024
- Though it would be fun to set this one to public, this was the state of the video 5 months before the release.
For those wondering about the software I used :
All 2D animation on TV Paint
Background painting on Photoshop
Some 3D references we’re done in Blender
All comped and edited in After Effect
joke about how I made the song in Garage Band
Post your questions in the comments and I’ll do my best to answer.

its so important for artist to show the full process of animation, and this is so interesting. Thank you for your creation.
absolutely agreed
This type of stuff really inspires me to get back into animation and art again .
Where did you learn to animate so well? Was it university or are you self-taught?
I did learn 3D animation in college, and decided later in life that I preferred 2D. So I didn't learn exactly from scratch, just had to remove a D.
@@mcbess That´s what she said :D

@@mcbess Sorry for your loss...
It annoys me how unrecognized you are as an artist, you put 50 times more work into everything you do then literally any other popular musician does now, and even though you don't have as big of a fanbase you make everything better than they do, it genuinely astonishes me. Keep it up, I'll stay tuned!
"Dum dum" was in the story boards. Genius.
The simpler audio gives it even more of a relaxed vibe. Like I walked in on someone else's jam.
Hope I'm early enough to have you see this. I just wanted to let you know that yo have become by favorite musician ever and I've learnt to play quite a few of your songs on bass because you make it sounds amazing! I have two questions unrelated to this video.
Will you ever tour in Spain? I'd love to see you live this Friday, but travel restrictions (and work!) are making it hard to move around.
Is there a chance you'll release the tablature for yours songs? Some of them are a bit hard to nail using just the audio alone.
Keep making amazing content man, you are a street lamp shining light on the dark street that is modern shitty music. 🤘
Thanks ! I would love to tour in Spain and eat only tapas and paella for a month, so might happen in the future.
@@mcbess That would be amazing! Thank you so much for answering!
That would be awesome, if you choose to come to Spain come to Barcelona!!
@@ladymordor6737 Nooo That is on the otyher side of the country for me! At least go to Madrid so it is the same distance for everyone
The early version of the song is interesting to compare to the final version
Woah, awesome to see how much you polished the video up before publishing the final! I love your art style so much, idk how to explain it exactly but the animation fits the music really well and naturally.
Oh, I'm really early.
It's great to see the "behind the scenes" of your amazing work.
1:24 My favorite part. I love that transition.
This is like a lite arcade version of water slide and I'm absolutely digging it! Just want to say McBess , you were the inspiration to apply, interview and train for a job I never thought I wanted until I discovered you. And on top of that this job will get me to Europe for pennies instead of dollars ( Flight Attendant). I'm one step closer to visiting all TheDudes shops across the pond and seeing you live! Love you mate!
À votre santé!
Ah yes!, the art behind the art 🎨, amazing ❤️.

Wow this is sick. The prototype animation works really well together with the unfinished audio, they're a perfect match.
This is my favorite music video of all time. I think I've shown it to every friend that's come by my place in the last 5 months. EDIT: I'm hoping there's a day you come here to Japan!
This might be a dumb question but what do you think of first? The concept to a music video or the song?
song first :)
Sooo Koool
This is such a fantastic chord progression. I've never heard anything else like it outside of maybe something by Broadcast
It's pretty funny seeing the animatic after seeing the buttery smooth end product. What drew you to rubber hose animation? Is there anything/anyone you're excited about? It's an open question
WOAAHHH
BETA WATER SLIDE
This is pretty McBased!
Do more solos! That one has me coming back to the song for the past 24 hours and haven't stopped :D
I just so happen to be listening to this song at least 3 or 4 times a day the last week. Love your work and i look forward to seeing more of it in the future
Hard even at that level
Hey mcbess, just wanted to say that your animation, art style, and music are really great and help me to clear my mind, I hope you can keep making all these masterpieces. 😁
I love this so much! Both the original and this unfinished version are so good! I wish in the finished version that they added the sun with it’s face. That’s one of my favorite parts of their animation the smiling sun 😂 I wonder why they decided to take it out I the finished product? Regardless love them both and am blessed to be alive in this time of life that Mcbaise is making beautiful music 💞
I know their style don't match, but the music industry sure have been surprising me with weird collabs going right so... damm I wish Felix Colgrave and Mcbees would make something.
This is one of my favourite solos ❤
The critical step to move from unfinished to finish was to remove the pants :D
I love the Water Slide animation, love seeing this animatic too, thanks for sharing!
Thats really beautiful and fun to watch, thanks for sharing
You're just too talented McBoss!✌🏻🌱🤘🏻
You are such an inspiration to me, man! What software do you like to use?
Thank you so much for posting this! I just started animating, so I truly appreciate to see some of your process.
I just want to say that Matthieu has been a huge inspiration to me c:
And now I have to watch the clip 15 times for comparison...
Clever clever... But I'll enjoy it anyway ! Haha
Quite interesting to see part of your process, maybe because the animation style I was under the impression most of it was done by hand but using 3D software is quite smart. How much do you use in it or it's just the intro?
I’ve used it for maybe 20% of the shots
super cool! you’ve got a huge fan in az, id love to be able to see you live someday.
This song version sounds different from the original version but with something left out. I can't pinpoint it, can somebody identity it?
this animatic video really makes me believe i can do anything i set my mind to. thank you for making this public. i wish to make music with you some day as music is my dream
One of the most visually appealing videos ive ever seen, good stuff guys!
can you give plz the chords of the juno brass plz?
just absolute amazing work from you, I really love the art style
How long does it take piece together a storyboard like this?
about 2 weeks
@@mcbess Daym you work fast! For me a project of this caliber would be months...
Thanks for doing this, it breaks down a lot of what you did and makes it much easier to reference and learn from.
Your music will forever be in my heart and playlist my guy. Never let a damn thing keep you down.
Are your animated music videos self-funded or do you have help from a studio/sponsor? (and selfishly, will there ever be another Les Viandardes figurine? :3c)
I like the changes that were made for the finished product but wish that some of the things in this one were fully animated and put in
es aser demaciado trabajo solo para un video ;-; ustedes son grandes cantantes siganle nomas que mucha gente les apoya , asen un gran contenido :D
man you guys are inspirational, seeing the process you went through to make the awesome animations you do is really helpful.
Mctaiste
all your work is so impressive. Not just your super funky music but your artistry too.
Really talented brother ;)
Interesting difference between the depictions of hell in this version vs the final
How do you conceptualize how certain parts are going to move based on the animatic? Is it just creative freedom or is there a process? In my head I have issue visualizing how things should move.
It’s a fairly abstract process, I try to find images that I find pleasant or interesting, then what I can make move and if it makes sense.
@@mcbess So rather than animating everything, you just animate only what you feel you can move and want to see move?
@@TheMimicBox yes, also I need go keep in mind that I have a short amount of time to make it, there’s a fixed deadline and also very little energy since I got a 2 year old…
Ok. Thx for the tips!
Loving the raw-dog version of this

Do you use a graphics tablet at all? If so what tablet do you use?
Great touch with the morning wood😂
Классная музыка
Was the song mostly improvised or did you carefully make it through musical theory? And if, what kind of musical talent do you find essential for beginners to pick up, for example on bass or guitar?
This one was fairly planned, I don’t have any theory though, but I like to plan things with the piano first.
essa musica é a que mais tenho escutado nos ultimos tempos , fantastica
This is like those little unfinished bits they would add in Disney CDs!
Are you going to make the heart pump on beat?
Gimme Mooooooooooooooooooooooar
I love this song ❤

hehe, cool.
Love to see/hear the creative process! Thanks
God Mcbaise i would kill to have this beta version of waterslide released as it's own single. Its got such a good feel and it sounds so different from the og product that it practically could be a remix/bonus track on the album.
Omelette du fromage
So when it comes to making these projects, where do the ideas come from? How do you help yourself connect the music videos and music together?
Wooooo! Sweet post!
I was hoping to ask though, how long did it take you to get to this point? And im to understand from the details of your post that the finished animation took you 5 months solo?
You amazing monster!
Joly
It is incredible, the idea is still maintained and the concept is beautiful ...
I wish this song had one more verse and chorus; I don't want it to end!
Beautiful simpley Beautiful
This looks amazing 😃
First time I watched this I was high. Boy was that a trip
This is great! Thank you for showing this.
Mattieu you deserve more recognition
thank you, very interesting
Seeing your process will never cease to amaze me
All we really need is a waterslide
love it to pieces.
