Galangal is langkawas used also in the phil especially in visayas region... You can buy it in farmers market cubao - look for Mang Jun

you can always use fresh ginger instead of galangal and if you dont have palm sugar ok to use chinese rock sugar as well ,good luck!

roberto: Rica is correct! Galangal is langkawas in Negros. In Cebu, it is called
luy-a luy-a or langkawas. It is lingkawas in Malaysia. In other countries, like Hawaii, it is otherwise known as wild ginger. It is bigger and more aromatic than ordinary ginger. It has good medicinal value too.
