The boxers' legs are not trained to take kicks. Despite that, it required repeated low leg kicks to impede the boxers' movements. A street fight would last shorter. So while the high kicks, punches, elbows and knees could be very effective, I m wondering the effectiveness of low kicks.
@@jonnystevens3774 Yes...I do agree for a axe type chopping kicks that Muay Thai specialises in. That is why this question. A person with good quads and calves can take absorb a lot of force. I compete in mma and there's nothing worse than facing a guy with good low kicks, kicking mid thigh hurts but what hurts the most is a kick on the tip of the quad right above the knee. Put padding on the legs too and you soften the blows aswel as slow them down, the same way the boxing gloves slow down the boxer. Bare knuckle boxers will have a better chance because their fists are conditioned making the punches harder, faster and more damaging. Remember, Muay Thai fighters condition their legs. Boxers do not condition their knuckles.
This is the first time I've seen Muay Thai fighters pitted against fighters from another fighting style in which the Muay Thai fighter was allowed to use virtually all his techniques. Usually he is not allowed to do so (which favors the other fighter).
The South African boxer did well in not giving Buakaw any space or time to throw leg kicks also blocking and weathering throw those keens and I do not know why so many people are saying Buakaw did not throw knees when he threw plenty of knees he even tried to need him in the head one time but failed he also threw plenty of kicks and he threw a few leg kicks in the later rounds because he was not able to throw them in the beginning because he was getting crowded and pressure
Not fair. It would be fair to duel without gloves for boxer. My self as muay thai trainee for 10years. I wouldnt want to fight trained boxer on street without glove. Although i have confident.
Musashi has to be the worst muay thai fighter I have ever seen. He fought like the guy who just joined the gym last month. A real professional muay thai fighter would have finished the fight in the first round no question Musashi's skills are by far the worst I have ever seen.
If you would remove clinch rule, then the kicks would lose all the meaning, every time he gets close they hug and break and all over again, let them clinch for a while, then I think it would have different outcomes.
Don’t underestimate boxing. If Kalakoda arrived to his fight with Buakaw, it means he beat some kickboxers before. Also, Andy Hug lost a K-1 fight to Mike Bernardo. Francois Botha beat Peter Aerts and Jerome Le Banner in K-1 fights.
Ray Mercer was 43 years old and 12 years removed from being WBO champion. His opponent, Musashi, was 32. I love Muay Thai yet this is a misleading video. Mercer was able to go the distance at 43; think of the damage he would have done if both of them were 32. Arthur Williams was 40 and his opponent, Alexy was 26! Neither sport is better. A truly top boxer could potentially end the fight long before succumbing to kicks. The sports overlap. And the non-overlapping portions of both sports are valuable.

The worst part of it is the surprising anguish these boxers have to wake up to the next day when they try to stand up out of bed and the blood rushes to their legs, bringing horrific cramp-like pain and the inability to walk. And to think this was before calf kicks really took on a wider usage. If they would have had to take a few of them on each leg on top of the thigh kicks it would have added to their agony both immediately and for the week after.
In this type of exhibition you will never see the best boxers in the world in their prime (Mayweather, Pacquiao, De la Hoya, Tyson, Naoya Inoue, etc.) because they fight for millions and they will not lower themselves to fight in those types of fights, then they are going to take former world champion boxers or unknown boxers to fight against good Muay Thai fighters (because they are not as highly valued) so those types of results will be common.

No Boxer had a killer punch, and feared getting kicked, so didn't go inside and stay inside to deliver a hard hit. So if you have a weak weapon, you cannot expect to beat an opponent with an array of weapons.
Boxing only make use of throwing punches. Meanwhile Muay Thai use kicks, knees, elbows and throwing punches. In a street fight with two professional fightings, Muay Thai would beat boxing everyday. When it comes to amateur fightings, it can swing on any side as it would heavily depends on the individual
I think its easy to see that Boxing is a highly specialized way to fight, by far the best hands of all fighters will be Boxers but in a less restriktiv fight you definitly see how Kicks and knees change the distance and Timing
Muay Thai is obviously gonna win against just a pure boxing style. 8 weapons vs only 2! Even though Muay Thai fighters are tall and square on making them easy to hit for straight punches, their kicks make it almost impossible to hit them without receiving some punishment. Round after round those leg kicks will slow down even the most agile boxer chopping him down like you would drop a tree, from the bottom. Eliminating the legs makes the boxer way slower and ultimately ineffective. You can't outlast a Muay Thai guy, but that fighter who fought buakaw was a beast - i've noticed that the lighter, smaller fighters can take the shots better than kicks from heavyweights.
It's funny how muay thai fan boys claim that if elbows and low kicks are allowed than boxers won't stand a chance. If they fight in a street with no rules, boxers would come out on the top most of the time. Because on the streets it's hard to pull of these crazy clinches, low kicks, mid kicks etc. Kicks can be easily countered by catching and dragging which is illegal in these competitions. On the streets, the guy who throws the first few vicious punches wins and survives.

Samart, somrak, wangchannoi, attachai and several Golden Era muay thai fighters would disagree
Shannon Briggs won a Kickboxing match as a Boxer
Actually, you’re wrong. Muay Thai is 95% fancy leg kicks I can catch you off balance with and 5% boxing. I know this because I’ve trained it before and didn’t really like it because I figured boxing was the much more technical fighting style and had more sparring.
Dillian Whyte and Jarrell Miller were both pretty good kickboxers.
@@kykise1395 I’ve also trained in Thai. All schools are different. Some focus on more boxing, others more on the clinch. It really depends on the Kru and their style of fighting. If your going to a school however and all it’s teaching is “fancy leg kicks”
I would highly question that school. For example at the school I trained in yes roundhouse kicks were taught, however there was also a high focus on boxing, knees, clinch and elbows as well as sparring.
There have been for instance Thai boxers who have crossed over to boxing and became champions in a relatively short period of time, after adapting to the western style. Due to their background in Thai. Thais also do extremely well while crossing over to Kickboxing, which has a higher influence on boxing, as it eliminates, for the most part knees and elbows. Something everyone forgets is kick boxers are really open to right hands and hooks becuase of their stance so if a boxer gets in he has to work it or else get his legs kicked off from under him
i dont get this kind of fight. so basically one man gets to punch only and the other gets to punch, elbow, kick, grab etc?
it's just showing muay thai is superior to boxing.
Boxing is not equipped to take on a puncher/kicker. I would not advise it. Sometimes, it's better to understand what you're built for and stay in that lane.

Yet Thai men are So Scared to fight in MMA where their skillset is not canned.
The boxers' legs are not trained to take kicks. Despite that, it required repeated low leg kicks to impede the boxers' movements. A street fight would last shorter. So while the high kicks, punches, elbows and knees could be very effective, I m wondering the effectiveness of low kicks.
One single leg kick can end a street fight if you can't stand you can't fight

Put padding on the legs too and you soften the blows aswel as slow them down, the same way the boxing gloves slow down the boxer.
