- Zinsser's Daren Rothwell presents an expert guide to Cover Stain® - the only interior / exterior primer, sealer, stain sealer and bond coat that dries for recoat in just two hours.
I tried this on a water mark on a white ceiling and it dried a yellow/creamy colour. Is this normal or should it dry white?
Can Cover Stain be thinned? If so, what with. I’ve got half a tin that has got thick over time. I presume something has evaporated from it!
This stuff has the consistency of yogurt. It isn’t supposed to be thinned but you kind of have to.
oh yes defo especially using in 5 degrees below jesus like brushing glue new after using it for a hour its needs thinning whether you can or not
What can you think of it with? White spirit?
Can I use this over polyurethane with out sanding the trim
Use BIN instead. Won’t hurt you to do a light sand.
We sanded the poly and cover stain failed finger nail test. I have 43 cabinet doors to respray because this product failed

They made this far too thick to be able to use effectively
Shit product. Primed back sides of cabinet doors w it in my shop came back 30 hours later and it failed a finger nail test badly. Other oil based primers…even oil based kilz works much better. I only tried cover stain at the advice of a 40 year paint salesman.
