I was a river kid during the same time. Most epic time. Remember all the Budweiser swag? Red White & Blue time that seemed we were all a part of. We would zip sled and waterski and fish, sometimes on the houseboat with friends rafted up with their toys.

Thank you for sharing as I'm so shocked to see Lake Mead with the water so low. I was on an expedition with about 14 other guys from Hawaii who drove across 6 of the western states planned by our family physician, for a lot of us, a graduation gift. Anyway, this was back in June/July of 1971. We camped at Lake Mead where at that time, the water was still at a high level. The first lake I ever swam in. Then we went on to Lake Powell in the Glen Canyon, camped there, and took the 50 mile round trip boat tour up to the Rainbow Bridge which was amazing. Most of us was 18 at the time. I'll be 70. Seeing the waterline of Lake Mead and Lake Powell being so low is really shocking.

Long time Phoenix resident, first time seeing your videos. Seeing all those gorgeous highway vistas reminded me how much I love our beautiful American Southwest despite the brutal summers.
Seeing the water level markers for Lake Mead gave me a bit of "That Funny Feeling," to quote Bo Burnham's song. I was born in 1993, so seeing how far the water has dropped during my lifetime is really sobering.

      A while ago, you showed
      us Salt Lake, Utah :
      Antelope Island (so named
cos Bison live there ?! 😊)
You were shocked to see how
      the water level had gone
down so much , even leaving boat
      moorings as just dry sand...😢
At Salt Lake, they take lots
of water out, for salt and
      Magnesium production.
      Apparently, many aquafers
      are shrinking drastically...
      Not as much snow melt
      coming down in rivers....
      Plus, over population,
      requiring ever more
      water....
      It has rained recently,
but the huge dry area still
      needs a lot , to recover....🌨️🌨️🌧️.
      Love your videos : "down-to-earth "
      and interesting.
      There's a guy in U.K. who
goes in his camper van on
      " adventures" with his lovely
dog, " Sherpa" .They have a
      great time visiting many places,
the dog is SO happy, well cared for ,
fed, watered : we get to see new
places, the guy ( Jamie) does a good
      job "taking us round" :
      everyone's happy !😊🐕🇬🇧.
      " Sherpa" sometimes gets
      a " doggy ice cream " !
      ("How cool is that ?!"
      says Jamie !😊🐕🎉🐕).

Howdy Russ - 10 - 15 years ago the natural lakes in our area of western Canada were down due to "unprecedented yada yada..." - one launch was using a couple old high crop farm tractors to wade the trailers in vs submerging expensive vehicles/getting stuck etc.
The lakes are full again due to increased precipitation upstream.

    In one video, recently,
    they said that behind
    Hoover dam, the water level
is very low , but actually
    there is even less ,
    because there is a deep
    layer of silt that settled
    from water coming
    towards the dam.
I think they said the silt
    was 70 (?) feet deep....
about a third (?) of the
    total depth.😢...
    The whole area is so
    dry now, but people are
still coming to live here !
    Glad there were storms,
    (but sympathy for the
    damage caused 😢)....
    Storms put the water level
    up a bit....hoping for
    more rain ....🤔.🌧️
    I thought, years ago,
    when they warned
    of "water wars ", that
    de-salination places
    ought to increase...
    High capital investment
    though.....U.K. had a drought,
    Spring & Summer 2022.
    Sympathy and
    Best Wishes from England .

I enjoy your videos as there is no drama it's literally what you see and experience, Excellent. You mentioned something about tech video each Tuesday, or something. One thing I'm grappling with is ebikes vs electric kick scooters, eg Segway Ninebot MAX Electric Kick Scooter. A ebike takes-up some volume, which the Nissan NV200/Recon Envy doesn't have. As well ebike are restricted on some walking paths which a scooter isn't and I can throw it in the van at night. It would be great for you to evaluate one for your needs, I'm sure an electric kick scooter vender would be elated to send you one for testing with your following and demographic. Travel Safe Buddy!

Nevada law makers need to put forth a bill funding the dredging of the lake, to increase its total acre feet capacity for water, to take advantage of wet weather when it finally comes their way. They can go to dry areas of the lake and take the lake down another 100 feet and sell the top soil to farmers and contractors to help pay for the dredging. Nevada also needs to also needs to work out a deal with California and Arizona to fund a pipeline from the Pacific to Northwest Arizona , that can be linked to southwest Nevada and desalination plants. Each state would need one plant for each million in population and the solar arrays to power the process. Then there is the pipelines and pump stations taking this water to Yuma, Phoenix, Tucson and north to Las Vegas. It would be a huge project, but it's a project worth doing. It would more than pay for itself.

The monsoons this summer were just a drop in a bucket! The Hoover Dam is on Its way to dead pool, in less than a year!

Around 2-years. Another 150 ft to Dead Pool. Meanwhile, the River continues to inflow at 6 million acre ft/yr. SoKal, Zona will have interrupted supplies, same as rolling power brownouts.

Could you portage a kayak from parking lot to water and go for a paddle, or fish?
Those lifetime passes are great! My "Adventure Pass" was even cheaper, like free if picked up in person, or $10 via mail. They are available to military Veterans and the handicapped. I have found one park where these cards are not accepted, Mt Rushmore!
