    When I replace the water pump, I also do the thermostat. For a few more dollars you can replace all the hoses which have the plastic connectors that get brittle with high mileage. If you are replacing the hoses, the lowest one drill a 1/4” hole and drain cleanly. As it drains take higher connections apart to vent and drain completely.

    Did this today on a non-xdrive and the 2 lower water pump bolts and hidden above the steering motor. The secert is a 10m splines ratcheting wrench and address from behind the subframe. The longer the wrench the better. I used a mountain 10m offset wrench. Thats to abother video for the wrench tip.

    Great video. Unfortunately, my BMW 428 was a pain in the a** due to the steering rack making it difficult to insert my E12 socket. The work around was using a 3/8 ratchet wrench. I was hoping it would be as easy as you showed hahaha.

      I'm in the same situation with my 328i F30.... the 2 bottom bolts are pretty unaccessible due to the steering rack!!! I find a very uncomfortable orientation for my ratchet wrench to remove them, but i'm very worry to see if then I'll be able to put them again.....

    • @carlton997

      I installed the top bolt first, and then I used a small 1/4 ratchet with a 1/4-3/8 adapter and a small E12. Take your time, and they go right in

    Great video really helped. Did thermostat and that flange thank god I did when I pulled the flange off it disintegrated in my hands. Was only a matter of time. I bought a cheap housing sadly even though I always get parts from you guys. Had to swap out o rings because it was leaking. It made a horrible noise when started I think because it wasn’t purged fully. On my SEO d purge in a row now just to be safe.

    Also, consider doing the accessory belt and tensioner. Everything is out of the way when doing the water pump. The air box is much harder to align than what I think is necessary.

A mechanic told me that the pump communication module blocks the signal puts the whole network in emergency and turns on the check engine for that the water pump should replace. • @allisonspringer8152
      @allisonspringer8152 Рік тому

      Technically it can but it would be difficult to know that the leak is actually coming from the leaky head gasget.
      If you had a coolant pressure tester and pressured the system you can pull the plugs and get a camera in the cylinders to see if any coolant got in the cylinders.
      Multiple ways to check a bad head gasget
