Hey guys. In this DCS World Simulator video I'm in the F16 Viper showing my public server, hope you guys enjoy!
24:15 - LongShot: "Overall successful mission I would say, no?"
Flashback to 12:53 - "Oh, they got a missile out." That missile downed a roughly $317 million B-1 Lancer. I thought the point of flying SEAD was to be far enough ahead of the strike package to prevent that. 🤔 😄
On the other hand, you *did* demonstrate the lethality of the SAM nets in your DCS sandbox server. 😁 Fun video, LongShot, I hope your server gets a lot of action!
I was stationed at Nellis AFB in the mid 90s. So impressive when the B-1 took off. So many car alarms(the few that had them then)would be going off around the base. Very awesome aircraft.
Oh that's cool
The Bones at Diego Garcia during initial Operation Enduring freedom rattled the windows and hangar bay. It was wild for a Navy P-3 squadron I was in.
I live in Rapid City South Dakota home to Ellsworth AFB and the B1 Bomber. The B1 Bomber is very, very loud!! Around here we call it Black Hills Thunder. There is no mistaking it for any other aircraft because of it's distinct sound. Even when the engines are throttled back and it flies at low altitude you can hear the high pitched whine of the compressor blades. Very impressive aircraft indeed. I also looks so cool in my opinion. I worked at Ellsworth AFB for seven years as a grounds keeper (mowing lawns etc.) I sometimes had an Air force escourt out by the flight line to mow grass in the BASH area (Bird Air Strike Hazard) and have had B1's fly over me on take off and landing. The sound shakes your whole body when they takeoff and my hearing protection not very effective it is a real incredible feeling of the power of its engines. Ellsworth will soon be home to the new B21 Raider but we will still have some B1's for a little while. I hope we keep some B1's flying in the future because they are awesome
That's cool.
My inlaws live right across the interstate from the main runway at Ellsworth. That crash that happened a few months back scared the living daylights out of them!
I also remember seeing one fly low over Dinasuar Park at high speed back in like 05. It was eerie cause you seen it coming but it didn't make much of a sound until it was on top of us. Cool stuff.
Re 'feel', there used to be a gaming backpack called Aura Interactor. There's even a Wikipedia entry on it.
What it did was it had these powerful speakers in the backpack that created strong vibrations and punches you could easily feel.
On flight sims it was incredible - particularly the afterburner.
How you used it was put strapped the backpack on. It plugged into a line level output on a dedicated PC sound card. On board motherboard PC sound was non existent when it came out, so a soundcard was a must (as it was for joysticks in that era).
It had its own power supply. It had these small speakers in it that packed such a punch it was unbelievable when turned up.
When you played a FPS the gunshots were full on frightening, particularly the ones that hit you. It was optimized for certain games that were implemented at software level in the sound track *BUT* it was so versatile that you could use it with a soundcard, particularly one that had a dedicated sub out channel or a subwoofer that had a line level pass through.
In flight sims when you hit your afterburner it would rumble fantastically. As you eased off the throttle it would rumble less and less and vice versa for throttling up. It was amazing. I can't explain how good it was when it worked.
In a dogfight when you got hit by an enemy it would thump through your back. The effect was so convincing that you would take the attack personally and get really angry. With 5.1 sound going through a home theatre amp, a flight sim with the interactor was amazing if only on a CRT non widescreen monitor.
The whole strap-on (LOL) thing was a stupid idea but it worked really well. I felt like a goose wearing it though.
Alternatively you could possibly get a gaming chair and strap it firmly to the chair.
I never used it on the games it was optimized for but did on PC flight sims and FP shooters.
On PC flight sims it wasn't perfect because it would stay dialed in only about 80% of the time and *it was amazing* , the other 20% of the time you ended up playing with the adjustments because it wouldn't work exactly when you hit the afterburner at times, distracting you. If you lowered the crossover bass threshold it would come on all the time, was unrealistic, therefore again distracting you. Eventually you just got sick of the distractions.
When you mentioned the afterburner rumble I immediately remembered my Aura Interactor (which I still have after all this time).
I am literally building a 1/32 F-16 as I watch you fly a F-16..... Life's good!
Cool, send pics
@@LongShotChannel Once completed I shall pass it along.. Love the videos, from take off to landing.. Keep'em comin!
Which Squadron ?
@@troyt6864 Thinking of South Carolina for one of the Vipers. Another one will be a Tulsa OK one.
Awesome to see fellow modelers here!
@18:50 I "Oooooh'ed" at the same time LS did. Felt weird and uncomfortable but still lol'ed 😂
Good video LS as usual 👌🏽
Looks really cool! Active ground combat is sadly missing from the servers i usually play. Nice to see it on your server.
I live about a mile from a National Guard base in Michigan and earlier today there was a big transport military plane flying low over my house. My windows were rattling in the floor was shaking
Oh man, and that's from a transport
Yea, this sounds like a bit of me. Time to get back into the F-16!
Good job. Really well constructed environment. Nice to see you taking things to the next level.
The B1 Lancer is aww inspiring in person to say the least. On take-off, it is also the loudest sound I have ever heard.
I really hope this server catches on! Thank you for making this server for the community (:
LS this is absolutely brilliant. I don't play, but if I did, this is a paradise of so many options and so much action. IMO this would keep me engaged for hours. My goal is to create a full scale cockpit sim to take full advantage of DCS and your server games. Its gonna happen!
Good luck! With your home cockpit the experience will be even more immersive
You are killing this UA-cam thing lately; keep up the good work! 👍
when are you going to get your own skin for your aircraft? That LS logo would be cool with some dark blues and silvers!!!
Thanks for the video mate, ill get some UK Apaches to jump on the server and help out, great flying LS, keep up the great work ...
this is super exciting. thanks for taking the time to make and host this server for us!
The B-1 is actually quite intimidating if you ever see it IRL. At first, you might think "is that a fighter?" But as you realize how huge it is, it becomes frightening.
The Falcon is a great contrast, because it's a very compact plane. Girls actually find it very 'cute', because it looks like a little bird (I kid you not.)
Very cool looking server, love the dynamic missions and scenarios. I do have one question though, is this server mainly for more experienced players or beginners? Or is it a mix?
Its for both, but very freindly to newcomers
@@LongShotChannel That’s good to hear. It’s a little daunting for a new(ish) player to join most servers. I’ll probably give it a shot with a couple friends sometime soon. Thanks for replying. 👍
Played it for the first time today… great gameplay!
Awesome
This is the type of server I have been looking for! I can’t wait to try it later it seems so accessible to beginner/imtermediate level players
It is. Hope you like it
Dude this is awesome, I cant wait to try!
Well, I know what I'm doing tonight. Might be CYA for 4YA.
F-16 Fighting Falcon lives on.
I did not know about your server. I will definitely be checking it out. Great work.
Thanks. Have fun
I was at Al Eudid in Qatar for a year will the B1s were there. You can hear them taking off over 5 miles away on the expressway. On base, everything rattles and the roar is insane. BTW the first thing they do after taking off is meet up with the Fuel tankers before going on their mission.
Genuine curious, why didn't you fly ahead to draw the fire of the SAM sites?
Purpose of SEAD is to supress enemy air defenses before other planes get there, not after those other planes have been shot down...
Looks great! Now if I can just get my DCS working again. I've been flying BMS just to stay in the air at least a little bit.
"I have a bunch of admins in my servers..."
How do you feed them? How did you get them in there??
He's supposed to feed us?
open the canopy while you're waiting on the taxiway!!! Be sure to close it before take off!
Very nice walkthrough. DCS is really impressive.
This looks fun, I might give this server a go
I wish Vtol VR had the sounds of DCS. It would be perfect.
This is gonna be awesome
I've Never played on multiplayer but i think thats about to change. Could youbdo a video on how to Talk to other players whilst online? Thank you Sir. Thank you for your time spent on DCS.
Start by just joining the Discord and talk there
And kids the word of the day is "IMPRESSIVE"!
Love that f16
What do you use for eye tracking?
Digging the server! Will be great once the word gets out and more people join in. For some reason, DCS crashes when I land my F-16 back at base. Any idea why that might be?
Is ths scenario a 08.08.08 but with 22.02.22 level of «blue» involvement?
Shoulda raced ahead
F16C Block 52 I supposed. 😜 HA,HA😜 Tell me about the radar...
Hi longshot appreciate for your hard work dude. What about other terrains? Would like too see Persian gulf and syrian as well
That's a good idea but I want everyone to be able to join
So in that case .. do the another run of this same mission with totaly different tactic of B1s flying low as u mentioned that the beginning cause this mission was a failure moment those b1 were shut down. Like to see low level bomb run from b1 and you with wingman hunting pop up sams for B1s
Impressive 😀
ooh something for me with my 10h in dcs👌🏻 searching a server in dcs is horrible as beginner, you have no clue where to start.
Might try that…
Very interesting.
Putting all my purchases on hold until ED/Razbam situation is resolved. Seems that ED is not acting like a fair player. Smart business sense would be for ED to take care of its developers.
lmao the booty bots posting the first comments are craaaazy
