I can't tell you how much I cried when I saw Scar turn around and all of you were together in person. How hard it is for everyone to get together in one place, getting Pearl, everyone from Europe... Remembering how you guys spoke about the 2016 Minecon and how you were afraid you may never seen those people again, and there you are, together again. It made my heart so full.

I wasn't expecting it, then Scar pointed out Grian in the background, then I saw Joe, and everyone just appeaered and from that moment on I just had a huge smile on my face. I was, still am, so happy for them. And I'm also glad they all spent time together outside of the charity event as well. The energy in that room, the energy of that event/stream... was just unmatched.

Boundaries are important! Just because you choose to be in the public eye and create content and art, it doesn't mean your entire life is an open book. Your viewers aren't entitled to know your whole life and it's obvious that you don't have to share your whole lives to be successful (just look at Etho! A legend and has never shared his face on screen). Whatever you decide to share is the exact perfect amount. 💜 My husband got me into watching Hermitcraft and now I've watched more than him. I love seeing all of you grow closer as friends!

And I do hope Etho manages to stick to it! He started in an era where people having any sort of facecam or social media presence besides their youtube videos was barely a thing. I think it was still a few years out from being anything less than out of the question, even. He's gotten a wonderful resurgence in popularity in recent years, but it does bring a whole new youtube culture with it, and I imagine it might sometimes be hard for him to be so hardline oldschool in a changing ecosystem

I guess one of the most memorable parts was realizing the Hermits are *there* in real life, together in one room.
I remember being a bit curious about why there's so little information about what exactly will happen on the stream, because on the previous one hermits did a lot of prep work on camera(building minigames etc.) so you already got the idea what will happen, and it got me thinking why it's not like that this time, why the schedule was posted a bit late, and starting to watch Scar's stream with not many expectations was what really hit me.
The moment the Hermits entered the screen, the moment I realized how many of them there was, the moment I started recognizing every one of them - my head just exploded. The reveal was insane in the most positive way possible. This memory will be stored in my heart forever, there's really zero words to express fully how cool it actually felt

I felt like such a nerd actually sitting down to watch Scar's POV kicking off the whole event right on time. Like who does that? And then somebody who looks like Iskall wanders behind Scar. And as I'm trying to understand that, somebody who looks like False and Grian are there, and then ... Is that Jimmy? To quote a certain horn, "What is happening!?" But as I started to fire up all the streams that were kicking off, Skizzleman's goes live, and he just looks confused as the Hermitcraft server loads up, and a creeper calmly wanders into frame, looks at the camera, and blows up Gluestick. You couldn't beat that moment. And I was okay being that nerd, because that was the best laugh I've had in months.

Most memorable moments for me were
    - Zedaph getting annihilated by a line of trigger-happy Hermits
    - The Phasmo stream and Gem scaring people in the background
    - Joe tapping into the Hot Ones Challenge and being unphased by the hot sauce
    - Clumsy Cooking. Just the whole thing.
    - The final match of the Zedlimpics between both of your teams
    - And generally just watching the background of everyone’s streams for the shenanigans and Nerf gun fights happening beyond the computers.
It was such an awesome thing you guys did. I had plans that Saturday and was planning on checking out the vods later but then I clicked on Skizz’s stream when it first started and I realized you guys had actually met up in person for this and my plans went out the window on the spot, I just stayed tuned for the entire weekend.
I’m an international college student and cannot legally work in the country I currently reside in so I could only afford to donate very little but I’m still very glad I was able to contribute. You all have built something amazing here, the Hermitcraft community just blows me away with it’s generosity. I’m so happy to be a part of it.

Please, for the sake of y'alls peace and 'off-duty' time, leave the fun time with friends private to your wishes. It's all for you hermits, and as much as we, the audience, would love to hear stories, keep it to yourselves, and be able to keep those wonderful memories. Love you guys! ❤
Edit: my most memorable moment was one of the dollar drives. I'm unfortunately not in a financial place to think I could donate much; in fact, I feared I couldn't make a difference. All I could justify was that dollar, and seeing it go up (from what I remember) 18k, it made me proud to be a part of this amazingly beautiful community ❤️

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, if you ever get the Hermits together in the same physical location again, take a group photo, get it professionally printed (suitable for framing), have everyone pictured sign it, and put it up for auction at your next charity event.
If you'd done that for the Gamer's Outreach charity stream this year, I'm pretty sure it would have raised another few to several thousand dollars. I kept hoping for such an item to appear in the auction.
Still can't believe my 4 favorite Hermits were in the same room together, 1 each from: the US, Canada, Australia, and the UK. You all work from home in separate countries on different continents. This can't be a common occurrence.

Keeping the details of the trip personal and private makes me respect you all so much more. As content creators you're often expected to pour your entire life into an online space for others to consume, and allowing yourselves to have privacy, and to keep such meaningful trips and experiences to yourselves is admirable.
All we, the audience and fans need to know is that you had a good time, that's more than enough for us.

  • @mad_maddie
    @mad_maddie 27 днів тому +52

I thought I would be disappointed in not getting any details about your vacation, but I'm not. Not even a little. You guys needed that time together and you deserved every second of it after that amazing event.
I can already see the difference in the way you all interact with each other on stream. There is an extra level of warmth between the hermits who were at the event and it will definitely make a big difference in your content.
My favourite part: Just the hang outs between segments where everyone were just having fun photobombing each others streams and goofing around. I literally didn't stop smiling for like 8 hours.
What could be improved next time: It would have been nice to have like a "main camera", meaning someone that just walked around filming everything that was happening. Anyone who was streaming could tap into that feed and stream it when they felt like it. I know you had the camera at the Clumsy Cooking table, but it was a static camera and the footage got pretty scuffed.
Also maybe find a better solution for reading out donos. Of course it was way too many donations to read them all out, which is an awesome problem to have, but it felt like Martyn ruined his voice for nothing because everyone was talking over him on their respective streams and no one was paying attention to what he said. Even at the end when Doc took over the donation reading during the Zedlympics it just became noise upon noise when he read donations at the same time as 12 people were playing competitive games.
Overall an incredible unforgettable event. And as I said before, I hope you can get Zach on the podcast. I would love to hear his story about Gamers Outreach.

It was so cool to see them geek out just like we do, and be just as excited and impressed as we are. It was just the best thing to see.
I can totally see Martyn and Jim joining HermitCraft in the future. Maybe not the next season or even the season after that, but eventually I see it happening.

In response to your closing question/ request, there is nothing i would have changed other than having scar there in person (which i understand why that didn't work and I'm glad he took care of himself properly), but that's a HUGE ask. Would also have loved for more of the hermits to be involved, but again, i get it and you guys had an incredible crew, especially with Jimmy and Martyn.
As for my favorite parts? I loved every second of it and couldn't even narrow it down to one favorite day, let alone one favorite segment. I think the best part was being a part of the friendship and shenanigans. I know we weren't there and we don't actually know you as friends, but the reason i love this cluster of creators is because i feel like i am part of the jokes, the friendship, the comradery, etc. and seeing all of you together having fun was so much fun and so heartwarming that it took even the most mundane and "boring" moments of the event and made it amazing. And i hope you share this comment with each other and the other hermits (and friends), because this is the "why" when you wonder about large donations, long term viewers, and endless love and fandom. Thank you all for all you do!

She's only 7 and developmentally delayed so she doesn't really understand how to play video games yet but I have seen the carts at our local Children's hospital and am so thankful that they are there for kids who are able to play them.

The most memorable parts for me were seeing Grian and Jimmy messing about the whole time. Specifically Kazoo Grian holding Kazoo Jimmy hostage with a nerd gun to his head. It was great to see what their real life friendship is compared to their in-game relationship, it's very similar and felt very wholesome.
If I wanted a single improvement, it would be the headphones issue. I saw a lot of y'all having complaints about them, and I think making sure y'all have a better experience with them next time would make a huge difference. Everything going a tiny bit smoother for you would make it an even better experience from the viewer's perspective. Other than that, there were a lot of echoes and feedback loops due to the close proximity between each of the stations. Not a huge issue, but finding a solution to that would have been nice, but it would have felt a lot more closed in, and kinda like how it is when it's remote, with less community building; so I'm not too fussed over that.

It was a surprise and honor to be a small part of the auction! I had originally donated my TCG Game Box, Booster Box, and Insert Box for the No Kid Hungry event last year, but I received the set a wee bit too late to integrate it into Impulse's event. So, Impulse added them to his items in the GO auction, and they raised a total of $2670.01!
I've done some fundraising years ago to benefit the Shriner's Children's, and was invited to tour the Shriner's Children's hospital in Springfield, MA. It's easily one of the most impactful experiences I've had to see so many children fighting for their well being. And gaming carts weren't a thing back then.
I have another TCG 3-piece set that will hopefully benefit another auction in the future!

I love the idea of Hermitcraft, like any other work office, having yearly team building trips. Not only can I imagine it being helpful like Impulse mentioned, but unlike most businesses that attempt it, I can really see how this would just always be a positive. I hope to someday work amongst such kind, creative and charitable people, who know the importance of fun and work, and who create a welcoming and open community. Not only do I just love you all individually as creators and people (from as much as we have been able to see through your content), but together you bring out so many wonderful qualities where us viewers just need to open our computers to feel welcomed, seen and accepted. The weekend was amazing. So many wonderful streams, such a great cause. I'm really glad you got to hang out together as well, I remember you saying you wished you'd scheduled more time for that around Twitchcon.
A suggestion for similar situations in the future: as soon as people have any chance of knowing where you all are, begin being very clear about the fact that things are not open to visitors. I sort of read between the lines and figured that out, but I definitely would have been one of the people just showing up if not for the fact that I a) was sick and b) have watched Impulse enough to read his slight discomfort with answering questions about where the event was and realize it meant 'don't come'
I knew exactly where you were within minutes of beginning to pay attention, because I live literally a five to ten minute drive from the building and have been there before. "Ann Arbor" indeed. Close enough for Arizonans, I guess. 😉

Yeah I already saw people planning to buy lan tickets to next year's Gamers for giving just to meet hermits and it kind of pisses me off tbh. It's not a gaming convention, it's not hermitcon, it's not a meet and greet, it's not about us, it's about raising money for kids. So sadly I don't think the hermits will be able to do the gfg event again, fans will undoubtedly ruin it

You guys killed it on the Gamers Outreach front. It was great to hear about the camaraderie outside of your "day job" and the importance of unplugging from time to time. Lots to learn here for those entering the workforce and figuring out what work-life balance looks like. As much as I'd like to watch IRL shenanigans, I respect the need to have something you keep to yourselves. You guys have definitely evolved from casual gamers/youtubers/artists/entertainers/content_creators to true professionals.

Honestly the most memorable moment was just tuning into a stream that I expected to be 100% virtual as always and having that slowly dawning realization that you guys were together. And it wasn't lost on me that Pearl, Iskall, and a bunch of hermits from the UK were ALL there. In person. And while that was exciting for me, I knew right away that for you guys, that must have been so special. Happy to hear that it was, you guys deserve that. Also happy that you're choosing to keep some things private, I respect that so much.
The only thing I wish we had more of (and to be fair, this might have just been my perspective from the streams I was jumping between) was interactions during the fully online segments with the hermits who couldn't make it in person. Etho stepping up to lead the tour, Doc stepping up to shout out donos, and Jevin's hilarious fundraising attempts were standouts for me for sure. But I think that all comes back to the perspective shift of season 10 being more social. We're here for the hermit interactions just as much as you're there to interact with friends on a server, and it's very clear you've all kind of grasped that this season. Can't wait for the next one!!!

Events like this are what give me faith in humanity. The fact that people from so many different places, backgrounds, and ideals can come together in such a way, for such a cause, is awe inspiring. The idea that you can come together with folks from all over the world and just enjoy each other's company is magnificent, let alone using their community to power a charity that aims to do something that improves the lives of those who, frankly, don't have a whole lot to be happy about. It's incredible, it's inspiring, it's [insert other positive adjectives here].
I don't like thinking about and talking about enjoying content as escaping from reality. That implies that we're disengaged from what's here and now, because we need something better than reality to ease the burden of living. Instead of thinking about it as escaping, I think of it was viewing another part of reality, where people CAN get along and CAN do great things together. So much of our world is occupied with the view that "If everyone were just like me, we wouldn't have all these problems. Let's screw over the other guy to show how much more right we are!" Which means that seeing people can genuinely put aside political, religious, and geographical differences in favor of doing a genuine good is a practice that ought to be nourished. I don't watch Hermitcraft and such because Minecraft is entertaining, (though it is and I love what you're able to do with it) Rather, I tune in because it shows me what it means to build a positive community, and more importantly, how to build a positive community it my little corner of reality. Then it shows me how to turn that community into a force for good.
Your whole community inspires me, and I hope that fact is something that all of you can recognize. We love you and your work. Please keep showing us the glory of human connection.

I tuned in into twitch that saturday, not even knowing about gamers outreach coming. I saw Scar streaming, and was setting up my own minecraft game and was all happy caus' yeah, building with one of you guys on stream is like, not feeling alone and it's just nice, right? And then... he's, you know, talking, I'm not even really registering and his stream turns around.... And I'm all like : Is that PEARL??? and then my brain is clicking and I'm seeing all those faces.... Let's be honest, I didn't get ANY building done whatsoever. But I had an immense amount of fun, loads of laughs and the feels for days (and a good screenshot of a friend's name on that monolith too, on your stream Impulse). Thank you all for that, thanks to gamers outreach, and to all the people who made all of that possible. I'm happy for you all : you had fun, it seems, and I really hope there's gonna be even more moments like this in your future.

I loved watching the charity stream! It was great to see some of you together IRL. I wanted to thank you for doing the podcast. I try to catch it, but I don't always. However, my dog has seen every episode. We play it for my dog when we are gone and it calms her down (we have all the episodes on a playlist). Now she recognizes your voices and perks up when we are watching Hermitcraft.
