Your descriptions offer such incentive and a game plan- it makes sense of many things. Years can go by and a person can realize that you rarely really get out of the front gates, till it all starts clicking. A talk like this can be a game changer..I can’t say I have experiences, but I do happen upon a deep love that is all consuming.. however I have learned by trial and error so many times, not to attach to it in any fashion, or any form that may have been associated with it at first. It is like the pure love of a child.. and then progresses even from there to be just an all pervading deep longing . I can find this quite often now, and I can linger there. This is what has been changing me the most. It is kind of an intensly calm inner endurance; by far the most powerful force I've ever been associated with. I am thinking this may help me in later stages, as I can't imagine unsatisfied desires having any sway over me in the grip of such love... I am truly grateful for all you are sharing with us
You can't know for sure and you shouldnt mind whether it is a real dream or an unreal dream. Just stay with the self. For yogic samadhi obviously the mantra should be chanted inside. In samadhi there is no more outside :-)
how do I know the difference between if I'm having a past life memory or just a random dream? also should mantra be chanted out load or internally? thanks! ^^
I attained Samadhi through Self-Enquiry but it doesn't last long, but effortlessly it comes and goes, any advice? Is any extra effort needed to weaken the vasanas? Thanks for the video. Very Helpful!
Sahed Cohen It is the dept of the samadhi which determines the duration of it. It may be advisable to resist samadhi at first, keep the meditation process going for a longer time before jumping into samadhi. For that purpose, mantra meditation may be more practical than vichara. In any case, it is the process of repeated samadhi that is the most effective in weakening the vasanas.
I don't have a meditation process, my mind spontaneously gets absorbed and results in Samadhi, I don't have much control over this process, it's as though thoughts themselves are withdrawn back into the Self and the 4th state is experienced. I am only concerned because I don't see any progress in the weakening of vasanas( The desires are as strong as ever) Thank you for the response.
Sahed Cohen Also I wanted to ask isn't the state of pure witnessing same as Samadhi? Also I am completely able to function with the normal activities of life while I am in that state.
Sahed Cohen Obviously nobody can say much about what another experiences in meditation. And words only hold the meaning that we give to them. However, as definitions go, samadhi is very different from pure thoughtless witnessing. Pure thoughtless witnessing is called Dharana, the onepointedness that is required for uninterrupted meditation (Dhyana) which eventually leads to Samadhi (absorption). In samadhi there is no experience of the outside world at all, which is what absorption means.
Oh ok thank you so much for letting me know I thought the thought free witnessing is same as samadhi. Guess I have not attained Samadhi yet. So does this mean, I have to also take some kind of form meditation along with Dharana to attain samadhi or will remaining in dharana itself enough? I can't thank you enough I really am trying to find out from so long!

Very useful information.
In siddha's there are five phases.
First the thathwa laya
Second sarguna
Thirdly Nirgun
Sanchar
Finally aruda

Om Namah Shivay
is there a difference between samadhi and lucid dreaming?
yes yogic samadhi is very different from any other more active trance...
this is surrendering to the beast by searching for it..
what about those of us who werent searching?
with every gift, came a curse..
