- Over a thousand trekking enthusiasts had gathered at the starting point of Kumara Parvatha, the fourth highest peak in Karnataka on January 26, Republic Day. Similarly, in the third weekend of June, over 5,000 people reportedly visited Etthina Bhuja and Mullayyanagiri in Chikkamagaluru district.
According to the data provided by the Karnataka Ecotourism Board, more than 1.1 lakh people visited the 19 trails which fall under it, between April and December of 2023. These numbers were significantly higher when compared with over 96,000 visitors in the financial year 2022 - 23.
Apart from the Eco-Tourism Board, there are also many trekking trails which fall under the forest department and a few like Nandi Hills which are maintained by the Horticulture Department.
While online booking system already exists for the trails which fall under Eco-Tourism Board, Forest and Ecology Minister Eeshwar Khandre recently announced that online booking system will also be introduced for all the trails which fall under the Forest Department.
For Kuduremukh and Netravati peaks in Kuduremukh National Park, online booking will soon begin, and all the other peaks will also get online ticketing system soon.
The Forest Department decided to introduce this system after environmentalists and regular trekkers expressed serious concerns about littering and ecological damage on the peaks.

Good Move. Hope there will be no black ticket sales here.
So called cultured corporate people throw plastic waste in forest roads 😂😂
I don't understand why some people and the reporter is calling it 'Kuduremukh' instead of 'Kuduremukha'. The name Kuduremukha literally means "horse-faced" in Kannada and refers to a particular picturesque view of a side of the mountain that resembles a horse's face. Pronounce it properly and repect the language.
In addition to visiting these places, these tourists are throwing plastic stuff on beautiful nature
There’s dengue everywhere, especially in DK and Madikeri and CKM
PLEASE DONT BRING INFECTIONS HERE OR CARRY INFECTION FROM HERE TO CITY, stay indoors please
These Bengaluru people already destroyed Bengaluru, now coming to destroy other places of Karnataka. Tourist places are becoming garbage good example is Nandi Hills
True brother , sulemaklu hudgir karkond bandu yella peace nu halmaadi hogtare
Instagram effect
❤❤
I went kumaraparvatha on jan 14th 900 people were their. Similar situation in check point.
Ban entering KP and surrounding area for 10 months , enough harm has been already made. Places which i visited during my college days is not same anymore coz of very high visitors.
Seriously need no child policy in India. Population is unsustainable.
😂
This is why
Guess this is the generation of trekkers who just want to go places for instagram.
Bosudike northi PPL litter our state
Trek to enjoy the nature
but not to destroy it
There is no proper waste management system in place, so anywhere more people more garbage. It's better to clean up the litter through out.
THEY NEVER LERN.
Tourism department failed to provide proper infrastructure and latest technology to manage traffic in these region, but they just want money from parking and public toilet users 😢
Then leave Karnataka
Online booking is very good initiative but The numbers of visitors should be controlled in batches …remember we are geeti getting into animals world and we are intruding their privacy ..in my opinion BAN this before rapid commercialisation
corporates 😒
tourism is looting.. wts the purpose of just collecting money without providing a toilet infrastructure and facility.. i didnot see tickets money going to forest welfare
they just want to make money . have zero regard to waste management . there should be one Forest ranger per 20 people hiking minimum .
