And one quick thing to note: in the config files some creatures have feathered and unfeathered designs that can be toggled on and off depending on your taste. Animals like the Dryosaurus won’t be feathered unless you have that enabled.

Personally I leave it at it's default settings as most of the feathered (raptors, therizinosaurus, etc.) and unfeathered (t.rexes, dilophosaurus, etc.) choices feel pretty accurate, but it's appreciated that you're allowed to have different projections of how the dinos look.

A warning for those thinking "oh man cool dinosaur mod that I can make an army with!"
This mod is heavily grounded in reality. Some things, such as dinosaur disease, won't be added, however they intend to keep most of it grounded in reality except for the things that the devs came up with, such as Anu and the magical scarab gems, and the intended to be added Atlantis structures. It's meant to be informative as well as being something like Jurassic World Evolution, a park Sim-like mod rather than a combat oriented mod.
yup, though you could use raptors and terror birds to fight things with, and if you have patience, you can set a trap and block the enemy then release something like a megalania on them
It's kinda more like Prehistoric Kingdom than JWE, seeing as prehistoric mammals are in the mod instead of exclusively Mesozoic creatures

I like how the paleontologists in this Minecraft mod are designed to resemble Alan Grant from Jurassic Park.

This mod really resurfaced some really old memories of going to a weekly thing where 20 people went into a room filled with computers and played minecraft mods for 4 hours this was 6 years ago and I remember something like this being a mod we played

I loved this mod since I played the original in the 1.6.4 , some times I miss this mod and anothers like Orespawn, I hope Fossils and Archeology can stay for a long time in the community, their ideas are amazing.
Orespawn sadly(or not really) is dead,the owner(a 56 year old man) made a kickstarter for a 1.12 port,and it made ALOT of money

iirc its 200 years?
Modern archeology is supposed to work closely with the communities that they are trying to study to gain their consent to carry out the research, it's not a set expiration date after which researchers can just come and plunder ancestaral tombs.
In the past archeological research has been less... respectful, but we are luckily mostly past that.
Depend if the people who own the area consent or not
As someone who studied archaeology, the actual answer is 100 years! But also that's only if someone doesn't own that property or if they relinquish the rights to it... so yes most of the artifacts from native tribes is 100% grave robbery and there's been a lot of recent pushback regarding such exhibits
Respecting someone that is already dead is bullshit. If they are dead then they don't care if their grave gets robbed

This mod or rather its predecessor brought me introduced me to minecraft. I loved the old let's plays of this mod, especially poet plays. This mod (the fossils and archeology mod) was my childhood, and I love the revival version even more. Thank you for showcasing this.
I used to watch poet and another UA-camr named Megneous play this mod unfortunately megneous stopped uploading but poet recently made it to episode 600 iirc

They said archeology will be added some time in next year( 2022)
Since 1.18 ( cave and cliffs part 2) is supposed to be released in holiday season this year we most likely won't see archeology in 1.18

Just noticed you can make your own Ice Age movies with this mod. You got the dinosaurs from the 3rd movie, some of the other animals featured in the 1st and 2nd films, and ofc, you got Manny, Diego, and *SID.* With that aside, good mod showcase. As someone who's into paleontology (specifically dinosaurs) ever since I was a young boy, I extremely like how many prehistoric creatures were shown off in this mod, especially with seeing my favorite dinosaur, the spinosaurus being in this mod. If I ever did get into playing minecraft, I'm sure to give this a mod a try. Good stuff as always, Text. Can't wait see what mod is up next. :)

I'm so glad that this mod still is remembered even to this day, I remember when I first found it about 4 years ago. I never forgot that it existed and I'm glad that the rest of the internet didn't forget either :] I never realized that it had been updated further

This is a good example of someone who realized that just because the old mod reviews are gone doesn’t mean they stopped being entertaining
I remember playing this mod with a bunch of people on a server back in the day. We made a huge jurassic park-styled base and assigned one or two people each to look after a certain area. I looked after the Velociraptors and Deinonychus, which was a ton of fun

yeah but i feel like it would be way too hard, there would be piglins, pillagers all the other mobs, 1.12 is a safer version, also you can add more mods to it
I already love your channel so seeing my favorite mod of all time being covered on here IS WONDERFUL. If you like this mod one of the creators on it also worked on alex's mobs which doesn't add a lot of technical stuff but adds a lot of interesting mobs with unique behaviors and items! I love your channel and i hope it grows more :)
