    Love watching you finagle pieces of hardware together into flying machines.:) What I would like to see you tackle is a turbine powered helicopter! Flying model helis is not as frightening as it used to be because flight controllers with 3 gyros, 3 accellerometers, barrometeric altimeter, and even GPS are now common . You can program whole flights that just require hitting a start button. The hardware is still like a spinning puzzle box ,though. hehe

      Thanks Joseph! I did recently pick up a Goblin Heli! Not turbine of course but it's been about 10 ish years since ive flown a heli. Just sorting out the controller and batteries and I'll probably video some of the process.

    Looking forward to the next video to see how you engineered the fix for the horizontal stab movement. I think I know what your going to do but you always find a way to get'er done. Great job!

    Excellent video as always. Lots of things to think about ahead of building like making the tail cones removable will require a connector in the afterburner lights or you will have to pull the whole harness out each time.

      Hey Rick. Yea the initial plan is to never have to remove them. If they do need to be cut off, wire can be cut and simple servo connector can be added or similar.

    So the bearing mount is what holds the elevator to the fuse. A lot of grinding ahead to fix the play of the mount to the fuse. Great progress

      Yea she is so big. Other planes I currently have in the garage are the same length but it's the width of the thing which is shocking!

    I don't do planes just cars for now but I found this very interesting anyway...good job. Do you build these planes for a living or a side gig?

    That carbon fiber isn’t gonna get damaged from the turbine heat? Aren’t the pipes typically all metal?

    • @superskullmaster
      @superskullmaster 3 роки тому

      @Captain Smith I’m speaking on the adhesive part of the composite not so much the fiber.

    • @thelightersideofrc
      @thelightersideofrc  3 роки тому +1

      No it should be a non issue. We did run into an issue with the carbon getting too hot on the L-39 but that was because the engine physical size was too big and close to the carbon bell mouths. Didn't cause any permanent damage but it got hot and discoloured.
      Once the engine is running there is so much air moving that it helps with temp control as well.

    Nice job! Where do you source the 1/2" plywood?

    • @thelightersideofrc
      @thelightersideofrc  3 роки тому +1

      Most of our LHS carry it here. Can also get 2 pieces of good 1/4" and laminate it together to make the 1/2"

      @@thelightersideofrc I live in a pretty rural area with the closest hobby shop being around 200 miles away. If I need anything from them, it's obtained when I make a trip out there several times a year. Otherwise, it's internet based shopping. Shame too, because when I was a kid, we had several well-stocked shops locally. Thanks for the reply, and keep up the great work with the videos!

    Jonathan what is the Different between the F14 vs F15 ? Will this jet have the AIR BRAKE like in Top Gun? can we see more FLYING?

    • @thelightersideofrc
      @thelightersideofrc  3 роки тому

      Hey Gregory! The one big difference between the two is F14 has a changeable wing! Yea this F15 has an air brake on the top hatch.
