Northug delivers! And not talking to press after breaking a pole at Vancouver does not change a thing. Quite the opposite. Its the skiing that counts. Cheers from Finland!
The one who says "massive attack" sounds like the same voice who commentates ski jumping. I like his comments, best one I`ve heard was how the Polish ski jumping coach Tajner "showed disbelief" when Malysz had an unbelievable jump. Couldn`t put it better myself.
"Here goes Northug, putting the power on sprint speed there. Look at that! Massive attack! Massive attack from Petter Northug! I've gone for gold. He is going for gold - I don't think he is touchable - that is the decisive move - they were all dead - they were all stumbling at the top of the rise".
And I say they´re great! Your opinion is exactly that, just an opinion. It´s not a fact. I don´t care if they mistake an athlete for being tired or not, like I said they are mostly right in their assesments. I´ve seen several races with the same commentators and they´ve never said Northug´s only good as mass starts -.on the contrary they constantly stress how versitile he is and how he masters all kinds or races.
leander75 singled out norwegians (very much like swedes genetically). It would be better to say scandinavians are known for their endurance. What makes Northug special: 1. Very good skiing technique, excellent shape 2. Extremely good at man v man 3. Very strong tactician, he is able to hang and retain enough power for a powerful final sprint. The true test of endurance is Vasaloppet (90 km classic), few norwegians have won that over the years, though many have tried.
he did the same thing yesterday he was 4th but right before finish he went like a torpedo and got silver, and he even started around 30 seconds after the others!
@karstenbagger :P that's my dad! haha is it the commentry you dislike or the experience of the commentators?? if it is the experience he competed in 6 olympics.
Um yeah - I have. I see most of the races on NRK. And the Eurosport commentators seem to know plenty about the skiers, and how they react and feel throughout a race. I think it´s very interesting. They way they predicted the outcome of the pursuit in Kuusamo last season was really great and interesting. I bet I watch just as much XC skiing as you, so I guess we have to agree to disagree. And FYI from what I´ve seen of the Swedish commentators I´m under average impressed by them.
He started 37,5 seconds after 1-3 place. Skied in 37,5 seconds but burned too much to catch the Swede which was fresh and burned off when Nordthug was closing in. Nordthug won Norway a silver medal. No one else in the world could've saved Norway a medal coming from behind almost 40 seconds. Swede deserved the win though. They had the better team overall and that's what relay is all about even though Nordthug almost won it by himself.
@karstenbagger You really think so? I´ve watched plenty of races with the same commentators and I think they´re great. 9 times out of 10 they are spot-on when predicting the development of the reace and who will be on the podium.
The NRK commentators are the best ones in my opinion. Of course I´m slightly biased there.... but I don´t think ski waxing is the only thing that matters when watching a race, so...
@piirkam Ja, helt enig der. Jeg skulle gjerne ha sett Hellner i en spurt mot Northug igår, da skulle han svensken som sa at Hellner hadde tatt Petter i en spurt fått se hvem som er sjefen. :)
@DJBBQ "norwegians for their endurance" Lol. Northug is the only one with such a strong final sprint The other norwegians are nowhere near him. Also Petter is much better in mass start than in individual start. The thing is mass start is more about competitive spirit which is what Northug does best (incredible final sprint). Individual start is different, basically youre alone in the woods and it's much harder to hang- which is why individual start demands more endurance.
@Boss7ification I wouldn't say Norwegians dominate this sport; Northug dominates the sport, the other Norwegians are nowhere near him. Sweden won the relay in the olympics...
Of course it's an opinion, just like yours. But in general they don't know much about the skiers and about different types of ski waxes. The same can be said about tactics and strategy. I've seen several races where they´ve said that Northug is only good at mass starts. Lately though that has started to change.
stop being so butthurt! We all know norwegians owns this game and they still do! Both the olympic team spring for men and women in south korea. Thats the ones that count!
No, they are not great. For instance during the Davos 30 km 2011 they thought that Petter Northug was tired on the uphill, when in fact he skiied very fast on the way down to the stadium (it was his plan to do so). They also tend to say that Northug is only good at mass start and other such nonsense. In this race (30 km Liberec) they thought that Northug was tired and that Södergren would lose him. Not a great pair of commentators at all.
I think so too. At least they are way better than that Canadian commentator during the Vancouver Olympics :D She must´ve been the worst commentator ever. They even had to do the commentary again because it was so awful. She had no insight whatsoever into skiing and could say such stupid things as "Oh, Northug looks so strong from the get-go", when commenting on a 50 km race.
Fastest sprinter? Sure. But I'm not impressed by his tactics, waits for the last 200-300 meters to the finish and then attack, not really fair. Why doesn't he lead like Vittoz, Sodergren, Piller Cottrer and just about all of the other guys? I'd like to see someone kick his ass in the near future, maybe Alex Harvey?
this guy is a legend!
I love watching skiing with comentators from other countries than Norway :D
What a last, long sprint from Petter...I wish I could see more of them.
Northug delivers! And not talking to press after breaking a pole at Vancouver does not change a thing. Quite the opposite. Its the skiing that counts. Cheers from Finland!

Northug is a beast:D! He took another 50km gold in Vancouver yesterday! OMFG, we love him so much!
Thanks for the upload :) Petter is big in Norway now.
That acceleration is just amazing:D
"Here goes Northug, putting the power on sprint speed there. Look at that! Massive attack! Massive attack from Petter Northug! I've gone for gold. He is going for gold - I don't think he is touchable - that is the decisive move - they were all dead - they were all stumbling at the top of the rise".
How fun it was being Norwegian that day :D But Petter is wild. No doubt about it >.> We hope he'll be able to do something about Cologna today! ;)
he's really so good in his job, when he's in his shape and healthy, then NO ONE WILL BEAT HIM. :D:D
And I say they´re great! Your opinion is exactly that, just an opinion. It´s not a fact.

thanks for uploading this one :-)
What amazing acceleration from Northug.
Gotta feel for Legkov here. In a chance for silver and he just can't hold on at the worst moment.
Petter is the best man in the world!!
@Tiriltoget Eldar Rønning did win a sprint vs Northug in Tour de Ski I think.
he did the same thing yesterday he was 4th but right before finish he went like a torpedo and got silver, and he even started around 30 seconds after the others!
There goes Northug... MASSIVE ATTACK!
Where does he get the energy from? He is the most fit athlete of course!
@karstenbagger
:P that's my dad! haha is it the commentry you dislike or the experience of the commentators?? if it is the experience he competed in 6 olympics.

Northug for president!

dang son straight beasting it.
Northugs the man!
Where does he get the energy from? He's from Mosvik, duh! :p
Undrar vad Södergren tänkte? "Inte nu igen" kanske haha med tanke på Sapporo 2007.
Vikings. We're just that strong. :D
Black people known for the running, asian for their reactions, norwegians for their endurance..
I feel so bad for the guy who fell :( But I'm proud of Northug :)
This is Trøndelag!
The NRK commentators are the best ones in my opinion. Of course I´m slightly biased there.... but I don´t think ski waxing is the only thing that matters when watching a race, so...
That's some Northug-style! See how he almost falls in 1:49 :DD
massive atack

Proud to be norwegian:)
@TheGrindsprint er ikke alle Nordmenn som forstår Skåne dialekt heller
@Boss7ification I wouldn't say Norwegians dominate this sport; Northug dominates the sport, the other Norwegians are nowhere near him. Sweden won the relay in the olympics...
at least he got the language right
Good english commentators, sincerely a Norwegian.
Hoisann! Her var det mange kommentarer som kunne dratt god nytte av en norsk-engelsk ordbok.
Worlds best, yes worlds best :)
This is my dad commentating.
he's like a black basketball player in asia
Norwegian: Northug er den beste sprinteren noensinne!
English: Northug is the best sprinter ever!
@TheGrindsprint Neh, men så är du ju svensk också då
omg gull now we got a gold just now!
I guess you haven´t seen cross country skiing on Swedish or Norwegian TV.
i guess you can say he got legKOED
Nice

@heathey2 no, Mike Dixon
Have anyone ever defeated Northug in a sprint?
@Skuttinen Sweden won what?
@marlngomz It's a stupid comment by leander75, no point in discussing with him.
lol nice skiing :)
whooh!
Norge
At finishing sprints......
stop being so butthurt! We all know norwegians owns this game and they still do! Both the olympic team spring for men and women in south korea. Thats the ones that count!

@Boss7ification Actually I think India invented snus :p It taste like crap though.. thanks Sweden for sweet sweetness
@eivher2009 Where is sommerfelt? hes better then Teichman
@GetViewed
Legkov har fem "brukere"!
Petter is nuber 1
@Ponka00
jeg tror at bauer dopa seg lol
barneskirænn
Legkov the best!!
Jag skrattar alltid när Legkov ramlar :D Han har ingen bra teknik.
Yeah, the swedish commentators could be better. But the guys on Eurosport know next to nothing about ski waxes.
But what a shame to have such amateurs of commentators. All cross country/langrenn commentators should be scandinavians.
SYKT spent på hvordan det går i ol, Bauer blir skummel :S
hehe yea;D
LoL He's Norwegian...
4 swedish pepole :)
Легков - настоящий русский мужик!
ikke si sånt..blir litt flau.
