TTMIK is amazing. I have maybe one Korean person in my hometown who I rarely have the opportunity to speak to, but when I go out of town and speak to Koreans they say I speak very well and know a lot. It's all thanks to TTMIK.
One thing that confused me when I first started hearing 그냥 in the wild is that people were using it in situations where you would say things that would illicit a response like "Oh, just because", and instead in Korean you can just say 그냥. Probably one more small thing to add to this great video =D. Like, "Why did you do that?" and then get 그냥 as a response.
i guess it would be like how here 그냥 means "only" which depending on the context could also mean "just" so how like in english we sometimes say 'just because' so it's probably a phase similar to that in korean if that makes sense
I've been listening to ur lessons this pass month and it was posted on 2010. And I thought "Wow this is so long ago." So I was amazed u're still working TTMIK till now. I really like your teaching btw 💛
Romain V I like kpop but I totally agree with you. This video is about korean, not about someone who happened to say something in korean, since they're korean. I find that annoying too.
The part about "shyness as a personality trait" got me thinking: Curious if anyone else has experienced a phenomenon where.... when you're the most fluent person in a small group, you unnofficially become group leader, and your confidence soars! People look to you for answers. And suddenly you speak with ease. Or maybe that's more of a personality trait? or a social dynamic where one can overcome shyness? I'm thinking: if you could hang out with newer newbie Korean learners, would you enjoy the social dynamic perks of being leader/guide/looked to for answers? Seems like a trick to get in more practice.
the editing of this video is amazing ... I like the editing & explaining with a lot of written with ditlfferent color when it'll be more clear for me ... Thank you ☺💜
This was a really interesting video! I recently started studying Korean studies and your videos have been such a good supplement to my language classes :) Thank you so much, TTMIK!
In linguistics terms, 끝나다 is the regular verb 'to end', which is intransitive, while 끝내다 is the causative form with this root, which makes the latter verb transitive (i.e., able to take a patient/"object" argument). Historically, the latter verb comes from 끝+나+이(+다) 'end(n)+ELLATIVE ('go out from inside')+CAUSATIVE (+INDICATIVE) -> 끝내다 (as 아 + 이 = 애 historically).
Excellent as usual , thank you so much for those explanations. Now, could you explain please the numerous use of 좀 "jom" that appear in many conversations ? Thank
There is so many vedios here in this amazing channel. I wanan know if there is vedio for alphabets and grammer and this stuff here?? We dont have places to learn korean here
I love these videos so much! I really do learn a lot! I like the feeling that there is always something new for me to learn..that's why korean is so fascinating to me..I started following you with podcast lessons on my Microsoft device 3 years and half ago and....I'm never tired of you guys^^ Bravi!!! grazie^^
there's nothing wrong with being reminded of a song you heard where this word was used, like "serendipity". But going "JIMIIIIIIIIIIIIN!! OMG BTS!!!" is annoying. It's just a word. it literally has nothing to do with him and ironically it just means "just". this is a channel that helps you learn korean, 99% of the videos have nothin to do with kpop
HyunWoo-ssi, thank you for the video. You explained everything very clearly. Also I hope in the next Q&A video you'd explain the difference between "geu nyang" and "ja kku". Thanks again.
Wow ARMYs chill fam. I mean I'm guessing the question came from an army considering the persons name was Chim Chim but that's not what the video is about ???? I get y'all are hyped for the album (I am too dw) but don't go annoying people pls you're making ARMYs look bad
I think you can learn more about meaning korean words when you hear them while watching korean drama and you see facial expression of actors simultaneously.
Hyunwoo, to err is human =P ~The edition was very funny LOL Unfortunately I just started my studies with you guys hehe~ but I can imagine the sentence in Korean... I like the fact that I can understand the meanings of words just for the way Hyunwoo express them, beyond the 'logical-practical' explanation. So thanks ^^
Can I buy you’re books and E books in any book store ?, or only buy online ?, also are they available in Nova Scotia Canada?, I hope the books are available in book stores Also these videos are really good and helpful I hope one day you will make dvd lessons with these videos that can be also in book stores If they are not already
I’m really interested to learn Korean, and I'm not learning it through K-pop influence at all, I'm just passioned about the Korean culture and language itself.
Ur teaching methods are sooo good

SmartYouTubification yes!

A video just about 그냥 would be really helpful! It's such a common word in Korean.
i see 그냥, i click
lmao-
Funny Chimchim asked about 그냥. 😁 Love these lessons! You make it so much easier to understand.
I've been listening to ur lessons this pass month and it was posted on 2010. And I thought "Wow this is so long ago." So I was amazed u're still working TTMIK till now. I really like your teaching btw 💛
Thank you ^_^ Stay with us for a long time!
When you are not interested in K-Pop and you have to scroll all the way down to find an interesting comment..
Romain V I like kpop but I totally agree with you. This video is about korean, not about someone who happened to say something in korean, since they're korean. I find that annoying too.
Anke Pepershtein Such a nice reply to a good comment that I must agree with both Anke and Romain V ! 😁
I AM interested in Kpop but it's not necessary to mention it every time I breathe. That just annoys people, needlessly.
even as a kpop fan it’s still pretty annoying to only see comments about kpop. like we’re learning a language here it’s not a concert or a meet-up
Comic Ender I hate y'all because everyone thinks I've learned for kpop. But actually I've learned to communicate with a game's community
I really love this channel because I always learn a new thing ^^ thank you and keep up the good work. From Paris :)
I always thought 그냥 was like "meh."
*Jimin voice* "그냥 그냥"
Just Yasha 그냥 그냥 나의 느낌으로
Just Yasha THOUGHT THE SAME THING
i think the one who asked thought that too because the user was "chim chim"
Just Yasha breh same
literally the reason I clicked on this video cuz I was curious if Hyunwoo would bring that up XD)

그냥 is one of the most versatile (and confusing) vocab in Korean.
Thanks for free korean lessons! Seriously, you guys are awesome. There is a special place in heaven for you
Your lessons are the best, thanks! TTMIK helps me a lot, because is not easy to find teachers of korean language in Argentina. 👍

the editing of this video is amazing ...
I like the editing & explaining with a lot of written with ditlfferent color when it'll be more clear for me ... Thank you ☺💜
I thought of Park Shin Hye's 그냥요 in Doctor Crush lol that was very iconic ~
me too 😍
감사합니다, 좋아요
Its so exciting to finally be able to understand a larger portion of your videos after just starting
This was a really interesting video! I recently started studying Korean studies and your videos have been such a good supplement to my language classes :) Thank you so much, TTMIK!

와 설명 잘하시네요! 나한테 뿐,만,그냥 차이 설명해보라고 하면 못 할듯ㅠㅠ
그냥!! 물 주세요랑 그냥 물!! 주세요 되게 자연스럽게 써왔던 것들인데 한국어 배우는 사람들한테는 이것도 헷갈릴 수 있겠다 싶었어요..ㅎㅎ
Wow your explaination is so amazing!!👍👍
The usage of '그냥' is very interesting.
Wow ARMYs chill fam. I mean I'm guessing the question came from an army considering the persons name was Chim Chim but that's not what the video is about ???? I get y'all are hyped for the album (I am too dw) but don't go annoying people pls you're making ARMYs look bad

Is there a video on 그냥 yet?
i always get confuse between 하고 , 랑, and 하고. Thank you for explanation 😊
I think you can learn more about meaning korean words when you hear them while watching korean drama and you see facial expression of actors simultaneously.
Holy crap super early here lol. Thanks for the info!!
선생님, 이 비디오를 너무 정보기 만원 있어요! 감사합니다! How do you spell your name? My auto check keeps changing what I write.😳
2:36 너와 나 reminded me of vmin's friends' last verse...."instead of being thankful/saying thank you"(I don't exactly remember)....that stanza😊
Hyunwoo, to err is human =P ~The edition was very funny LOL
Unfortunately I just started my studies with you guys hehe~ but I can imagine the sentence in Korean...

저는 기억했어요, 그거는 세렌디파이티라는 비디오한테서 왔어요(방탄소년단 지민 그거를 노래했요) 언제 저는 읽었어요 ,전 그거를 알았어요 어디에서 난 전에 들었어요 ㅋㅋㅋ (저도 그거를 노래하고있었어요 😂😂😂)

What is the difference between Hajima and Gumanae (idk if i spelled it right)
Hajima하지마- Dont!
Gumanhae그만해- that's enough!
그만해 explicitly indicates the action is already happening.
