  • Buying a used bicycle can be a great way to save money on a new bike. However, it is important to inspect the bike carefully before buying it to ensure it is in good condition. Here are some tips for buying a used bicycle: • What will it cost YOU?...
✅ Look for a bike that is in good condition. The bike should be clean and free of rust or damage. The tires should be inflated and in good condition.
✅The brakes should work properly. The gears should shift smoothly.
✅Ask the seller about the bike's history. How old is the bike? How often has it been ridden? Has it been in any accidents?
✅Take the bike for a test ride. This will give you a chance to see how the bike feels and to make sure that it fits you properly.
✅Negotiate the price. The seller may be willing to lower the price if you are willing to pay cash.
Once you have bought your used bicycle, it is a good idea to have it tuned up by a qualified mechanic. This will help to ensure that the bike is safe to ride and that it will last for many years.
Here are some of the things that a bike mechanic will do during a tune-up:
✅ Inspect the bike for any damage.
    ✅Clean and lubricate the bike.
    ✅Adjust the gears and brakes.
    ✅Inflate the tires.
    ✅Make any necessary repairs.
A tune-up is a relatively inexpensive way to keep your bike in good condition. It is a good investment that will help you enjoy your bike for many years.
Here are some additional tips for buying a used bicycle:
✅Buy from a reputable seller. This could be a local bike shop, a pawn shop, or a classified ad.
✅Be prepared to negotiate. The seller may be willing to lower the price if you are willing to pay cash and if issues are pointed out.
With a little bit of research and preparation, you can find a great used bicycle that will meet your needs and budget.
This bike is needed. Chain, cables/housing, bar tape, and a few other little items. Also, a major tune-up. All of this would cost you $1399 at a bike shop to have done.

My passion for bikes started when my parents opened a shop in the 1980s called Parker Bikes (we were located in Parker, Colorado). My love for cycling has continued since then, in my work and with my hobbies of road cycling and mountain biking. After my parents’ shop closed, I worked for other bike shops (including Lee’s Cyclery in Fort Collins), where I built and sold bikes, fixed and tuned up bikes, and managed inventory.
I love working on bikes and want to share my passion for cycling with others. So, next time you’re talking cycling with someone and wondering how to get started or where to go from here, you can think, “I know a guy!”

In buying a used bike, my general rule is to buy in one of two categories: 1) perfectly rideable as is and well priced, or 2) not currently rideable and priced accordingly but easy to get there for only a little bit of cash and effort. That doesn't mean I _won't_ spend a lot on the bike, but it means I don't have to.

Just bought an older blue (02-04) 55cm all Ti Victoire. Have been looking for that size and model for a couple years. And yeah it was a little over 1k by the time it arrived. And like you mentioned it will be a couple hundred to get in a place I'm comfortable doing a long ride. Thanks for the video.

If you like Ti and Carbon bikes, this is a crazy cool frame with LeMond geometry. Trek didn't make very many of them, and if you like the ride of steel, it's a must-try. That's if you can find one. Dean and Serotta made similar frames.
