You made all your audience feel normal if Laura lives with messes in her spaces we are not too far off. Winter is the time we all check our seed starting areas not matter how small or large. I giggled today yay you are like your audience. Whooo I feel normal lol
Hi! The leggy plant is a rhaphidophora tetrasperma, no relation to monsteras. For some reason a bunch of companies label them as “mini monstera” which just confuses people. The other two look like they are monstera borsigiana which is basically the sibling of monstera deliciosa. They do the same thing and have the same growth habit as deliciosa but the leaves tend to stay smaller. Monstera and philodendron are two different genus. Lots of times monstera get labeled as philodendrons, but they are completely different geniuses.
Get the table top carpenter to come back and build a small table at end of big table for the catch-all items, but build it lower so that trash can just slides underneath. Use a big basket on the top to make tidying up easier to carry around and put away the accumulated items.
If a plant could speak, they would feel like me (age 63) being told to stretch every morning. It’s uncomfortable but is paying off. You inspire me. I am going to rearrange my plants too. I need to get them away from the windows before that crazy cold air puts frost on them. Stay safe and warm these next few days.
New life goal: a heated plant space where I can putter to my hearts content. The studio is such a nice space to get work done! Feels like a home, not like a greenhouse, yet still so comfy. Sadly, I have a dining room table and people that expect the soil to be removed before they eat there. (the nerve!) LOL
First thing in the morning, I look for your video. My grandchildren spends hours looking forward too seeing you all. We thank you for motivating, empowering, and educating my children, grandchildren, and now my g. grands. We are having so much fun with gardening and purchasing lots of seeds. Blessings for 2024 and Thanks Again.
Have you considered rearranging the room, so that the pretty painting and gray console were on the back wall by the back door (under the mini-split)? That would be so attractive to be the first thing to see when you walked into the studio. You could also move your long potting table to that end of the room (so that we would see the pretty painting and console behind you when you’re filming). The standing lights, camera tripod, etc., could be stored over in the back right corner. It would really open the room, and Aaron’s desk could be kept on its same wall, just slid further toward the front door.
Isn’t playing with houseplants the best!! I love my houseplants during wintertime when I’m missing being outside in the garden. They get over-loved during the winter, and under-watered during the summer😂😂😂 My husband got concerned regarding the abundance of houseplant purchases last winter, convinced they would die of neglect during the summer. I’m happy to report most are still alive, and the ones that did die must have been bad plants😂😂😂
Nice to have things cleaned up! Whenever I see the studio, I want to move all the wooden shelving onto the same wall for a more uniform look. Then I would put all the white shelving together as well. And I want to move those big, round baskets to the top of the black shelving. It’s easier to organize someone else’s space, then tackle your own! 😁
Love the studio, love the space! Can you please get Aaron to do a one off in-depth video for us geeks on the tech you guys use, software everything that has made this our fave gardening channel? Would love to know more of what you use to do what you do as it really is up there in terms of quality! ❤
Laura those plants look so much better on those poles.. I’ve never been a fan of those because they always look so messy. They do not look messy with how you put them in the pots with poles. January is a cleaning and recharging month!! 🎉
Those monsteras would look fabulous on the top of your plant stands that you use as a backdrop for your weekly recaps. If the ceiling had some lights installed, specifically for the top shelf, they would really round off that back wall. I love monsteras 😊
Laura, this vid is a great example of how you show many of us what's possible when we think it's impossible. I'm sure a lot of people would've tossed those plants that broke or did not know what to do with the main plants that needed to be repotted.
Laura, watch video of you repotting in your studio and I had a thought. Have you considered putting the Garden Answer Logo on the empty space on the wall above your grow lights shelving. Would be a great space for free advertising for newcomers and help fill in blank space. Love your videos, been watching for years. ❤️
Monsteras need a free draining soil of broken up coir brick, succulent mix, pumice or perlite, and some potting mix, well mixed. Usually i put a good amount of scoria at the bottom of the pot. If you only use potting mix they tend to get root rot. The reason the leaves are so straggly is due to lack of light. Aroids and most tropicals are not like ordinary house plants.
What a great project. Any plant lover has had overgrown stems AND has broken stems while working with them. Your solutions and training tips were really helpful. Also, watching you organize and clean really inspires me! Don’t know why, but it often motivates me. 😂
This repotting of the Monster was just in time for me as I have a very oversized plant that needed staking. I didn’t know about these staking poles. Thank you!
I Love reorganizing videos. It gets me in the mood to clean myself! It’s amazing how seed starting shelves get filled with random stuff. I’ve never seen those poles. Thanks for sharing. What are the white fluffy plants on the first shelf closest to the door?
DH loved the chicken with lemon a dill recipe yesterday. He wants it added to the keep list. Now off to go get my space clean, well, more organized. Lol
The Plant Shelving Units Of Varying Types, Gives Off An Unkept Appearance When Grouped Together, Though You've Just Organized And Cleaned. Consider Purchasing Yet Another Large Black Shelving Unit To Match The Others, Rather Than That Space Being Left In A 'Hodgepodge' State. ~ Happy New Year !
❤ as always I am inspired to repot some of my plants that are pleading for greener pastures ❇️😻🌿❇️ thank you Laura and Aaron you're always helpful in many ways 🫶🏻
Thanks for reporting those plants in a video. I was beginning to think I was the only one that broke plant stems when trying to train them on a pole. I need to get a couple of those sphagnum poles.
As a child my mother had a philodendron in our "parlor" similar to the 2nd one that climbed a 4 foot bird cage (no birds as we like the look of cages but don't like birds caged) and up to the ceiling and then circled the room twice. I don't know what she did other than that room had very tall windows, but I do recall her getting a couple of us to help her tack more jute rope and carefully hold it while she adjusted and retacked it to another length. Thanks for bringing back that memory from the mid 1960's! 🥰🪴
My growing shelves are such a mess and it made me feel much better to see someone else in similar situations in winter, and Alaska has long winters, we can't plant much until June 😮, so January I chill until February, my only blooming things are Amaryllis, which are great to give me some winter happiness when they bloom, staggered ❤, love them and I like your cleaning jb😊
Now that you are done organizing your space, please come do mine too! So annoying not to be able to stand up long enough to get things done and walk around to be able to put things away. It looks so much better Laura! Awesome job 👏 Have a blessed day 🙏❤️
The Studio looks much better...as well as the three plants. That was tricky, as the stems break easily, but what a difference! The plants will be happy. 🪴🪴🪴😁
Something so satisfying to organize and straighten up the catch all spaces. I have a new shelf unit to put together and adjust a few bins and mark them. Now it's my turn! LOL! Later!
I am so glad I watched your videos because we got some snow this week, heavy snow, and if I hadn't seen you mention it in your video about shaking off the snow, I could have lost some evergreen trees or they would have been very misshaped. Got the ice and snow knocked off and they look great. Thanks for the information that you give us!!
Totally agree! I left my plants in pretty good shape in the garage before goung to Texas for two weeks. When I came back they were in bad shape. I decided to plant this spring everything i can and not to over winter in my garage my roses etc. If they make it then yea! So next I will work with my roses and pine in the garage and start seeds under grow lights.
Ooh eee girl, you go! I am a "tidy Heidi" also. I just cleaned my grow room and repotted 10 houseplants. All to prepare for an organized and tidy seed starting space. We are on the same "wave length". Everything looks ready to go! The repotted monsters look happy. You inspirer me every time😊
I’ve never seen those moss filled poles before, but I’m not a huge houseplant person. I love how they look in my house but then get tired of taking care of them. Very satisfying watching you organize. 😊
ahhh, a clean space.. helps my mind to have things organized so i can get everything all messy again, hahaha.. IDEA FOR THE GARBAGE CAN: i bet builder-magician Paul could fashion an easy table top on long legs to fit over that trash can... leaving at least the area by you open (you might want to hide the front for camera appeal), put the garbage can on a large plant caddy, then just wheel it out from the table to throw trash in it - you have your table top for convenience and the g. can is still available to use... of course, i'm no builder, but it sounds like a top, a front, maybe 1 other side to hide the can, the open area for the can, and legs tall enough to fit next to the work table... i'm just the idea man, my hubby is the builder-magician here, hahaha... anyway, studio looks good, plants look so much better, and ready for seed starting.. ps.. it's nice to know even the experts can snap a plant like that, lol... whew, it happens to me more than i care to think.. OOPS! 🙃 looks like a great day!! 🥰❤ thanks for the video!! 🥰❤
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I did not know about planting poles and what to do with my straggling, leggy monsteras. I now have my work cut out for me!
You still sound congested! Take good care of yourself. Love the projects. As always, I find inspiration in your videos. Even when you should be resting. 🙂
Beware of chicken poop. The new acreage is going to add so much freedom to do more. It will be great! I know that you have had chickens and a chicken coop for many years. When I heard you say that the old coop on the new property MAY become a play area for the kids I became alarmed. When my dad was in the navy he was sent to dig up an area that used to house chickens. Disturbing those buried droppings caused him to contact a lung disease which led to his having to have his lung collapsed. Just a suggestion based on my family experience that you put that on your list of things to look into. Your videos and family are terrific!!
The rhaphidophora (Tetrasperma) is so incredibly easy to root!! Just chop and prop! Stick it in water and then replant all of them together and it’ll be a stunning show. They grow so fast. Mine in western Washington like medium light and to totally dry out before waterings. Took me forever to finally find one now they are everywhere.
Thanks Laura, that was so cool to watch ie repotting. I appreciate you so much, I see your mother teaching you, and you teaching us. It’s beautiful! And so enjoyable.
Yay! I loved watching you vacuum with your Dyson! I love mine and get such satisfaction out of dumping all the dirt and seeing what there was! lol! Great job of organizing!
Laura, one of those handy woodworking people you know could put an extension on that table that folds down, but would still allow you space to put the trash can underneath. I had no idea that hose sphagnum moss stakes were even available.
I understand how you feel this time every year I have to straighten up my pantry as well as my craft room. I own a store in the arts and craft, Camary and Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and at the end of the year everything gets thrown all over the place, trying to find stuff put things back. I understand I’ve been working on the two rooms the last three days they’re almost done. Good luck with yours.🌺🌸🌼
I just returned from Miami, where I saw ginormous monstera growing up trees. If you ever are in Coral Gables, take the time to drive nice neighborhoods. I kept taking pictures thinking, that's about $10,000 worth of variegated Monstera! They really do love to scramble up vertically.
This was right on time lol!! I've been cleaning my plant room and moving things around, repotting a few things. I also placed a order with Mountain Crest succulents. Can't wait for them to come in. I need to get some of those plants stakes too. Thanks for sharing your normal plant room with us. Good to know we're not alone in our " messes" 🤣❤️😄.
I follow another UA-camr who has tons of house plants, when she is working on training a monstera onto poles she wraps spots where roots will grow in plastic wrap to keep the humidity and moister up until the roots grow and take hold, might be a good thing to try for yours :)
This is the chore I loathe the most, however, so very glad in the end I did it! I starting trying to rid the house of "stuff" for donation every Jan/Feb. It just feels good, clean. And then I'm ready for spring/summer to play in the garden ;)
You made all your audience feel normal if Laura lives with messes in her spaces we are not too far off. Winter is the time we all check our seed starting areas not matter how small or large. I giggled today yay you are like your audience. Whooo I feel normal lol
Was anyone else holding their breath during the re-potting??!!😅 Can't wait to see the progress! Looks nice and tidy 😊

I alse have an ick when people mix up genuses.
Douglas is a lovable kitty. He just tries to grab you because as far as he is concerned he is not finished with his petting session. Love your channel
I love how the studio has morphed over the years. It’s being used so well for a home business with kids!
Looks organized and cozy now.
You and Aaron made the studio look so fresh and tidy. Nice job on replanting your plants. Everything looks great! 😃
Get the table top carpenter to come back and build a small table at end of big table for the catch-all items, but build it lower so that trash can just slides underneath. Use a big basket on the top to make tidying up easier to carry around and put away the accumulated items.
I just love how real and honest you are. It is so empowering as a young Gardner, thank you
“Like a lasso” LOVE IT! And YOU , Laura!

Thank you for showing what you did with the broken branches. They turned out really nice 👍🏼 awesome team work on the studio 👏👏👏

Sadly, I have a dining room table and people that expect the soil to be removed before they eat there. (the nerve!) LOL
😂 I have an extra table I could use, but I always seem to end up in the kitchen near the sink. My dear husband frowns on the mess it makes. Poor guy.
You have a magic green thumb touch your repotted house plants will be beautiful in a month!!! 🙌🏻✨💚
First thing in the morning, I look for your video. My grandchildren spends hours looking forward too seeing you all. We thank you for motivating, empowering, and educating my children, grandchildren, and now my g. grands. We are having so much fun with gardening and purchasing lots of seeds. Glad to see that youtube has organized all the comments together again, instead of members and non-members.👌
LOVE THE PLANTS AND THE SUPPORTS THAT ARE HOLDING THE PLANTS UP RIGHT ARE SO NEET LOOKING, NEVER SEEN SUCH A THING BEFORE
I just always love how kind you guys are to each other! And I’m cracking up watching you organize while my house needs ME to organize it!
Hi Laura and Aaron! The studio looks so good, and the plants look much better on the poles. Thank you so much for sharing!

“I don’t really care for the mopping or the dusting”. lol. Same Aaron. Same.
Looks great Laura! I’m amazed what you did with those three plants!
I tell my husband all the time that tackling projects like this is enormously easier when there are two people doing it!! Looks wonderful!!! ❤️💫❤️
Laura those plants look so much better on those poles.. I’ve never been a fan of those because they always look so messy. They do not look messy with how you put them in the pots with poles.
January is a cleaning and recharging month!! 🎉
Good morning, Laura ☕️. Looks clean and fresh! Those Monsteras are so pretty! Well done, Laura. Have a Blessed Day 😊🐈🐈🐈
Love these combo videos. Learned a lot by watching you repot monstera’s with poles to climb. Thank you Laura and whoever edited!! 😊😊😊
Those monsteras would look fabulous on the top of your plant stands that you use as a backdrop for your weekly recaps. If the ceiling had some lights installed, specifically for the top shelf, they would really round off that back wall. I love monsteras 😊

Agree!
How timely! I'm planning to repot my mini monstera soon and found some great ideas online for making my own climbing stake for it.
Laura, watch video of you repotting in your studio and I had a thought. Have you considered putting the Garden Answer Logo on the empty space on the wall above your grow lights shelving. Soaking the moss poles in fertiliser water is genius. Thanks for that tip Laura!
I had no idea but I have monsteras that definitely need poles to climb. Thank you!
Those monsteras are going to love their name home!
Hey Laura It's always good to have organization And a day to do deal with chaos.
Morning, All ☕️❣️Laura, thanks for a great monstera training tutorial👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
What a great project. Any plant lover has had overgrown stems AND has broken stems while working with them. Your solutions and training tips were really helpful. Also, watching you organize and clean really inspires me! Don’t know why, but it often motivates me. 😂
This was the boost of encouragement I needs to repot my poor monstera who has been weighing down and looks unhappy.🙁
How is it that this video makes me feel so good! The plants look so happy.
You should install kitchen base cabinets in the area next to the door where you have white wire racks. And then add open shelving on top.
Mess loves company! We all need a good straightening up once in a while. And those plants look great now-will look forward to an update on them😊
I'm glad you are taking care of your houseplants, they deserve it! You sound a little sick, I hope you are okay!
What a difference with both projects! You are very patient, Laura.🌷🌷
Thanks for all your videos. I enjoy seeing how very supportive you and Aaron are of each other. Aaron is so agreeable. I love it.

Organizing is great winter therapy! As for the plants, I'm sure I would have broken more of those stems. 😮
Laura looks clean and fresh!!❤
I would realy like to see a Garden Answer calendar with views of the garden and a map thankyou
DH loved the chicken with lemon a dill recipe yesterday. He wants it added to the keep list. Now off to go get my space clean, well, more organized. Lol
I am the same. Any flat surface becomes a place to stack things. Good work clearing stuff out. Thanks for the inspiration.
Best garden videos on UA-cam🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤🎉🎉
This is what everyone needs to confirm, this is normal! Thank you Laura and Aaron for sharing a piece of your world with us.
For some reason it feels good to see someone else organize their space 😅 the plants look great 👍👍

Good morning all have a safe and blessed day ❤️
I have a monstera that I need to train. Thank you for the video. You made it look so doable.

I just enjoy watching you bring order to your work area and then you rescued those beautiful plants. Have a Blessed day. Happy Birthday to Benjamin🎂🎉
The Philodendrons say thank you so much Laura. Please let us see the progress.
Outstanding! I will take loose stems from Pothos and Philodendron plants, stick them in my fish aquarium, and Submerging only the roots. 🌱💚🙏
I have been searching for pins for my Philodendron Florida Ghost plant and I couldn't find the right one. Thank you for showing the Greening pins. 💜
I've never heard of those kind of poles. Interesting!
ahhh, a clean space.. helps my mind to have things organized so i can get everything all messy again, hahaha.. I used bolt cutters to shorten the wire base of those poles. Made them a LOT more steady in the soil.
Laura I have to say when you clean you really clean
If plants are sentient beings; they absolutely adore you!
Thanks Laura for doing the repotting of these plants. I have been agonizing about how to repot them, now thanks to you I can get the job done.
I could watch you pot and repot houseplants all day long! Do you recall where you got that adorable Nutcracker fairy garden set?
The rhaphidophora (Tetrasperma) is so incredibly easy to root!! Just chop and prop! Stick it in water and then replant all of them together and it’ll be a stunning show. They grow so fast. Thanks for showing us that repotting, I never knew about this pole. Will he fining one this month for a few of my plants and other family members
Yay! I loved watching you vacuum with your Dyson! I love mine and get such satisfaction out of dumping all the dirt and seeing what there was! lol! Great job of organizing!
This is the best time to get it done.
I look forward to seeing those Monstera minimas respond to their new pots, a feed + supplemental light! Every body could use THAT lol.😊
Laura, one of those handy woodworking people you know could put an extension on that table that folds down, but would still allow you space to put the trash can underneath. I had no idea that hose sphagnum moss stakes were even available.

Good job on the Monstera plants. We have two massive plants and my husband has them well supported and looking good. 🪴
