Always makes me happy to see some attention brought to what we’ve got here in the PNW haha. I’m local to the fair and I love the Classic Coaster the most. It really does come down to the rows you sit in though because the back row is AMAZING for that drop after the first turn around, but the front is a lot of fun during those last hills heading into the break run. Now, I will agree that Rainier Rush is a rough ride and my least favorite at the fair. However, last spring I had I chance to ride the coaster without the trim breaks before the tilted loop and my word did that change the ride! The loop felt forceful, the banked airtime hill actually provided some surprising airtime, and the final helix provided some fantastic lateral g’s due to the banking entering the helix haha. Definitely would repeat that ride if I could.
This is such a great review. And I really do agree with all of your points about these coasters. The Rainier Rush coaster is very painful and uncomfortable and i'll never ride it again. The Wildcat is extremely fun, but for someone that goes to the fair solo, it sucks that you have to have a ride partner, so I can't ride it often. So therefore my favorite is the classic coaster because they allow single riders on it. And being in the very back is extremely scary since the force of the 2 big downhills lifts us out of our seat.
@@JS-xx7cf - What??? Damn, I never got a chance to ride it. I went to Puyallup Fair last year, but Rainier Rush was closed, but I put it on my list for this year. Since this video, they finally got rid of Rainier Rush (pronounced “rain-neer” as in Mt Rainier). I’m not sure if it was scrapped or not. I had the fortunate opportunity to follow the 5 year rebuilt of Classic Coaster and interviewed the late John Hinde who was in charge of that. From 2009 to 2014, I visited the fairgrounds during the off season and was able to get up close and personal with this landmark coaster. John did a lot of amazing work on that ride! Unfortunately, he passed away a little over a year ago. He was a kindred spirit and shared the love of the history of roller coasters. When I was the Northwest ACE Reg Rep, I had the honor of presenting the ACE Landmark plaque to the fair board, the construction crew, Funtastic Rides owner and founder, and a group of ACE members in front of the coaster. It was a very special event and the last time we were able to enjoy ERT on Classic Coaster. John would also sneak a few of us inside the fairgrounds during the Spring Fair in April and the fall fair in September during the renovation period to help break-in the ride in the morning before the midway opened. I lovingly referred to those times as our “sandbag ERT”. We haven’t visited the fair in 5 years due to health issues. I’m hoping we can possibly attend this year as I sorely miss my beloved Classic Coaster as well as the Schwarzkopf Wild Cat that was completely refurbished and relocated to a different site on the fairgrounds a year ago. Anyway, thanks in sharing your experience, it brought back some great memories, ones that I will always treasure.
I grew up just outside of Puyallup and I tend to agree with your assessment of the coasters. I personally prefer the Classic Coaster over Wildcat, but it is close for me. The reason the Classic Coaster is so smooth is several years ago they rebuilt it from the ground up, a quarter section a year, and you could tell which section was new and which was old by the roughness. Oh, and according to rcdb, Rainer Rush just had its last year at the fair, so hopefully they replace it with something better.
Let me tell you something about nostalgia!...In Seattle, back in the 1950s, there was an Amusement park, predictably called Playland. The jewel of the park rides was "The Dipper", a huge coaster, built by Carl Phare in 1930...over three thousand feet of track, and the first drop was 72 feet....Phare said that of the three coasters he built, the Dipper at Playland was his favorite...I rode that monster many times as a younger kid...the park closed down in 1961, and down came that fabulous coaster!...Such a shame...there is a public park of sorts at the old location of Playland...younger folks have no idea of the hallowed ground they are walking around on!
3:35 I have ridden a clone of this at *BASLER HERBSTMESSE 2017* and I loved it. In fact, the 1st drop is better than I expected. The 1st helix has one good forceful point and the last helix pulls some nice Gforces. The ride feeling was fun, you could really feel how the coasters wheels are running on the track. I don’t know if the clone at Washington State Fair feels exactly similar but from the clone that I rode. I rank it over euromir because it’s smoother. Lastly I wanna say CONGRATULATIONS TO 10k SUBSCRIBERS! Well deserved.
I actually live in Washington. The classic coaster was the first coaster I’ve ridden and it sits in my top three coasters which are space mountain at Disney land and the Thunderhawk at wild waves. (I haven’t ridden many coasters okay)
We used to have 2 mouse coaster's at the fair. Wish they had kept the bigger one. The wild cat is great and the classic is well classic (and a must ride if you "Do the Puyallup") and in recent years they added a photo which is fun. We used to have rides at Seattle Center and they had a pretty good little coaster there. Wild Waves has 2 pretty decent coasters and that is about all we have within 100 miles or more lol. Glad you made it out.
I just moved to the San Juan islands, looking foreward to going to the Spring Fair in April. This place is close enough to the ferry terminal in Anacortes that going here is something I can just do.
My wife is from there and used to always tell me I should go up there for the fair with her family, didn’t realize there were a couple legit coasters! Definitely will try and get there next year when we’re in town.
Ranier Rush feels like the roller coaster equivalent of a movie that comes out in January. It's a bad coaster that tries to hide its reputation by being at a park which is only open five weeks a years. It's the same idea as a bad movie that comes out in January since very few people who go to the movies in that month see anything besides Oscar contenders.
Puyallup is very underrated in terms of state fairs and coaster destinations. It's not exactly on par with Minnesota or Texas, but it can hold its own.
I want to but will have to find the time and funds to do so, I'll probably venture over there once I completely tap out the US and Canada parks in 2020
Rainier Rush, I walked away from that ride with a "headache from hell" and the way you called it "janky" I dead!!😂😂😂. But WildCat, and Classic Coaster are the reasons of why I go. It's really nothing to "write home about" they really are fun little coasters.
Great video about the fair, glad you made it up here and to the 2 other parks in the area. Silverwood is great, despite the dismal one-train ops on all coasters, and I really enjoyed PNE when I was there a few years ago. And the seat belt makes sense--a couple years ago they just didn't let anyone ride in the back seat, and now I know why. It really was unnerving without a seat belt, and smaller people could definitely be thrown out if they weren't holding on. only been there once back in 2019 in the hours in the middle row with no lap bar I thought I was going to fall out 😂 but luckily I made it in one piece on the classic coaster

Damn, I wonder when they renamed the coaster from. "Arrow coaster" to "classic coaster: Also wondering if you made it to wild waves and rode their woody
It's strange to me that a coaster hobbyist would go all the way to Washington and ride Classic Coaster twice. I ride as much as possible. I'm enjoying, studying, feeling & watching everything. The forces, track, structure, trains, seats, restraints, station, people, the view. My visit to WWF will be all-day, perhaps 50 to 100, or more rides on Classic Coaster, and a few on Wildcat and Zipper. Ranier Rush will likely be front seat, back, middle, and done. Any wood coaster is a destination for me. I spend an entire day at a park, minimum. Classic Coaster has exact replicas of Prior & Church's legendary trains. There're only two coasters left running these wonderful trains, Vancouver's Coaster & Classic Coaster. They're the greatest coaster trains ever designed, which is why GCI copied them (Milennium Flyers). I try to give all I've got to this hobby. Classic Coaster is a fun, gentle, historic John Miller ride that the whole family can enjoy. I can't wait to experience it for an entire day.
Stuart McPherran no my sister has though she said she hated it because she didn’t like the feeling of all your weight on the restraint and she said she waited a very long time.
Yeah I had the same problem as you when I wanted to visit. I really wanted to go (this was 2015) but we went to washington in the summer so just went to wings & waves water park which I highly recommend for you to try out. Also I asked this in the last video but are you going to announce your 2020 trip. I hear you are going to la ronde and I want to warn you... it's pretty bad.

I had a good day at Silverwood, the ops were atrocious but since there isnt a ton of rides there I was able to do everything I wanted minus one last ride on Tremors just because that line was too long at the end of the day.
Wild Waves in Federal Way has 3 adult credits, none of which are all that good. Portland has Oaks Park with Adrenaline Peak which is very good albeit short, and Enchanted forest is worth going to just to see and get the 2 credits. Its a weird place you wont find anywhere else
Why is it that you amaricans dont like flat rides they should get way more attention cause I feel like (as a European who has ridden a lot of boosters break dances and kmg afterburners) flat rides are way more fun than fair coasters.

Congratulations on 10k
Man I really liked wildcat, it felt like more then just a family coaster clone
Damn, I wonder when they renamed the coaster from. "Arrow coaster" to "classic coaster:
Also wondering if you made it to wild waves and rode their woody
He got to it, yeah. He mentioned it in a handful of videos
Good job on 10k
I live near the fair, usually go every year. Sadly haven't ridden any of the coasters. :/
Me too! You mean when the fair actually open since because I didn’t go till 2013 I think.
And I’ve ridden the wild cat there which is the only roller coaster I’ve been on at that fair!
And I don’t really go to the spring fair since the 2019 spring fair.
I’m surprised canadacoasterfan hasn’t made a comment hating on rainier rush 😂
Will a POV of deja vu at silverwood be up soon?
Grapefruit Coasters Actually it’s called Aftershock.
Stuart McPherran it will always be deja vu to me lol
@@jakethecake6952 Have you ridden it at Six Flags Great America before it moved to Silverwood?
Stuart McPherran no my sister has though she said she hated it because she didn’t like the feeling of all your weight on the restraint and she said she waited a very long time.
Deja Vu! I have been in this place before.
Rainer rush is no longer there
Thank god for that lol. It was painful.
Sad he didn't show the sling shot or extreme scream 😕
Yeah I had the same problem as you when I wanted to visit. I really wanted to go (this was 2015) but we went to washington in the summer so just went to wings & waves water park which I highly recommend for you to try out. Also I asked this in the last video but are you going to announce your 2020 trip. I hear you are going to la ronde and I want to warn you... it's pretty bad.
We got to Wild Waves before coming here, it wasnt that great. Klondike was closed too
@@AirtimeThrills That's cool I think you miss read it's called wings and waves water park in portland you ride a slide out of a boeing. Also are you going to make a 2020 theme park trip video
@@galil159 oh woops, I assumed you meant to say Wild Waves 😬
And as for 2020, i may do that later in the year when its more finalized. I have a good ide what i want to do though
he needs to go to fairs in europe
Reiner Rush and Magnum are tied for slowest lift hill of all time
There all good man
5 weeks lol mine goes for ten days!
My local state Fair. Yet Wild Waves, my local themepark is crap.
Evan Austin well I guess if you go there, you’re about to have a bad time.
Eh, I don’t think Wild Waves is that bad, I always enjoy myself every time I go
I also didnt have the best opinion of Wild Waves
Airtime Thrills did you manage to get on the ring of fire? It was built in the 70’s and is absolutely insane
@@SmileBullet i dont know if I saw that, though more than half their rides were closed the day I went
What do you MEAN there aren't many coaster enthusiasts in the Pacific Northwest? I'm here! That's... One person
What is the ride at 5:06 called? I know it's a very old one and I've always wished it was at my local fair.
I think you're referring to the Zipper which has been at every fair Ive ever seen
the one from diary of a wimpy kid
10K!
How was your day at Silverwood when you visited
I had a good day at Silverwood, the ops were atrocious but since there isnt a ton of rides there I was able to do everything I wanted minus one last ride on Tremors just because that line was too long at the end of the day.
@@AirtimeThrills I'm so sorry about the ops I dont work there I'm in the games area but I'm glad you had good day
I know that CanadaCoasterFan thinks that Ranier Rush is the worst coaster ever built XD
I wouldnt blame him for that, its sketchy and pointless
What other credits are worth getting in Washington State & Oregon?
Wild Waves in Federal Way has 3 adult credits, none of which are all that good. Portland has Oaks Park with Adrenaline Peak which is very good albeit short, and Enchanted forest is worth going to just to see and get the 2 credits. Its a weird place you wont find anywhere else
@@AirtimeThrills thanks!
What else did you do in Washington?
Just this and Wild Waves
@@AirtimeThrills whenever you come back, you should check out Wings over Washington.
1:35 I think wicker man uses this
This sucks im going to washington and there’s nothing to do
10k boi
Wow
Noice way to flex your 10k
Why is it that you amaricans dont like flat rides they should get way more attention cause I feel like (as a European who has ridden a lot of boosters break dances and kmg afterburners) flat rides are way more fun than fair coasters.
K k e e s o
Not worth my time, will go later
First
Oh wow i just realised i wasn’t subscribed sorry man!
