  • Boss DC-2 Dimension C which was modelled on the Roland Dimension D SDD-320 studio rack unit. Powered via a standard 9 volt DC pin negative, and the DC-2 sports the usual buffered bypass. This review and demonstration is presented by Dale Harris, guitar. The guitar used in this video is a Fender Telecaster USA.
The Boss Dimension C is legendary and its Three Dimensional stereo width of sound takes the chorus effect to uncharted depths. Since being sold from 1985 and then discontinued in 1989, it’s become a highly collectable compact effects pedal from Roland-Boss.
The Dimension C is an all-analog Chorus pedal, though its functionality and sound set it apart from the crowd. It used a BBD (Bucket Brigade Device) circuit, a type of circuit that delays signals by routine periods of time. It also uniquely uses two modulated delayed signals alongside a dry signal. These delayed signals are out of phase with each other to spare you the motion sickness. This circuitry gave the Dimension chorus effect a more subtle, ‘motionless’ tone.
There are four modes, each gaining in intensity and thickness.

This is just a chorus pedal with 4 static switch modes instead of rotary knobs you can continually adjust.

Hi, Well, it's a tri-chorus so it is much more than a Boss CE-2 or CE-3 for instance. I used it for years as a mock Leslie, using settings 1 and 4. Settings 2 and 3 are like a more traditional chorus at different speed and depth rate. These are for the musician who needs a quick sound shaping solution. It's horses for courses. My preferred chorus is a Sony M7 and the Neunaber Inspire Chorus, of which the latter isn't easy to switch sound types unless you know the pedal really well, and after a year's worth of use I still can't dial it in to different sounds and I leave it on a single setting in a live situation. The Boss DC-2 I had 4 settings that I knew and can get to them instantly.
      Best regards, Dale Harris
