I have a chubby sheep and we found her on her back, legs pointing to the sky lol we assume she had slipped down the dam embankment ( she couldn’t get herself up 😐) Just to clarify she’s fine ..
Grass fermenting in a sheep’s stomach produces gas, and if the sheep is on its back the gas can't escape. As the gas builds up in the sheep's stomach it causes pressure on the lungs, eventually preventing it from breathing.

What's also ironic is that the giant wool coat probably helped him survive just as much as it burdened him, as it would be a portable winter shelter and the local predators would be unable to actually hurt him. Of course, this likely also came at the price of being tortuously heavy to move around in, dangerously hot during summer, and unable to see anything that isn't directly below him.

@@DeanK1905 Did you watch the video? In the very beginning of this video, they stated this sheep had gotten lost in the forest for about 5 years so this little guy (not so little by the time he had been found) had been wandering around & probably had some horrific experiences having been lost for so long. I understand your point about animals being bred for human beings' personal gain, but let's face it; sheep are a natural part of the animal kingdom & have been for centuries & unless you'd prefer they go extinct, I'm actually glad they found him & shaved the massive growth of wool after he'd been lost for so long. Another thing that was said is that this sheep was in a lot of pain by the time they found him, so yeah, I think this is a sweet & feel good story because he'd been found & was taken care of so he wouldn't have to be so miserable being covered to the point where the overgrowth was causing such pain. You may have a different perspective & that is certainly your right, but mine is this is a feel good story & you can tell that by the end of this video he was feeling a heck of a lot better than when they first found him.

Found one like this myself back in the 90’s when I was a forester. It was in a pine tree plantation, & had been there 7 years, when the farmer leasing the area to graze his sheep, de-stocked & obviously missed / lost this one.
When I saw it, out the corner of my eye off the edge of the track, it was upside down with its legs up in the air. At first I thought it was a dead / bloated sheep, but as I looked I saw it’s leg move!
It had got rained on and was so heavy / wet, that it couldn’t regain its feet.
It was literally “on its last legs” but we managed to roll it back over and two of us lift in into the back of the tray back ute & take it back to the farmers property where it was sheared of its fleece. The wool staple was over 12 inches long.
Local craft ladies cleaned and hand spun the wool & knitted “greasy wool” jumpers out of it.

    • @globalincident694

Sheep are not what you'd think of as traditionally intelligent I'd say - they're not as creative or as observant as many wild animals - but they are very intelligent when it comes to dealing with humans. That sheep could tell from their body language, their tone of voice when they talked to him, and from past experience, that the humans weren't planning to hurt him and he shouldn't resist being sheared, and that's something many species would have struggled with.
