I only recently found this video. I was there….15 years old….parents let us skip school to go watch grandpa’s horse race in The Jug. Destination First…..owned by my grandfather. Man, does this bring back some memories.
Thanks for sharing that. Destination was a stellar horse. But when you’re up against hall of famers like this field it’s tough. Broadway, Pershing .. those were elite horses. What a finish! What did Destination earn lifetime?
Great crowd 10 deep.. they came out to see a great horse and a fantastic field. Sadly Falcon Seelster there wasn't in this race,he was in a later one.. it's hard to say if he would have won the Jug.. but I think on this day he would have..
Actually, Falcon Seelster was in an Open right before the first heat of The Jug, cause we had Destination First, and I thought ,” Jesus, they’re gonna go in 49.. but Seelster stole the show this day.!
