Honestly, Taylor Swift is the Shakespeare of Music. Her songwriting capability is so captivating, powerful it literally lets the listener live her perspective through her music/song. Hats off to TAYLOR SWIFT.
Just realized a little detail incredible that Taylor might put in this song, when she sings "and so the battle ships will sink beneath the waves" when she hits the word "beneath" the music and the instrumental comes back out loud exactly like the ships would sink into waters, it's like the music comes to cover up the lyric as the waters comes to cover up the ships sinking underneath the waters. GETTING RID OF HER THINGS WITHIN 4 DAYS & LEFT ME WITH LIKELY NOTHING SHE WANTED ME TO HAVE BECAUSE OF THE JEALOUSY OF HOW MUCH WE STUCK TOGETHER. KARMA IS REAL & I CAN'T WAIT!!!
What’s crazy is I’m a Chiefs fan first and I didn’t like that because of Taylor suddenly people are fans. I took the time to listen tonight. Wow ! Her music speaks 💯. I think I’ll give her some grace ❤️💯
Hey thank you for taking the time to post this afterwards and actually be honest in how you felt about her prior to taking your time to actually listen to her music. This needs to be seen by so many other people who felt how you initially did. Love and prayers 🙏🏼 🏈 🎵
I've heard a lot of people say this song is about "Marriage Story" or from the perspective of Este or a ghost, but one other possible meaning that I think is really cool is the interpretation of the lyrics as being about Taylor's problems with her record label. It's all a metaphor. "You wear the same jewels that I gave you as you bury me" it's like they're hating on her while making money off her songs. "My stolen lullabies" because they effectively stole her music.
Yeah definitely it can be interpreted in different ways I just interpret it that way because I thought it was most obvious, my apologies if I offended you.
Hi! While I do respect your opinion and your interpretation of this song, I am also one of the person's who saw the semblance of Marriage Story in this song. You see, why do people who saw Marriage Story instinctively knew that it's partly inspired is becasue of the words. And Taylor said in an interview, "It was partly inspired by Marriage Story". While the first verse really relates to the film, the second verse also has some "undertones" (POTENTIAL SPOILER BELOW) re: > Ghost - Charlie dressed up as a ghost by the next Halloween on the film, and it's kinda funny, ironic and sad at the same way. > "Gather stones" might be their ring, since their rings do have stones in there (yep it's really small, to the point that you can't see it XD one of the very -very- small detail that I appreciated on Noah's direction) > i guess "Same jewels" also means that Nicole's necklace is somehow connected to the line. I have this HC that Charlie gave it to her before. and it stays right there until the end of the film. i'd also like to think that the first verse is on Nicole's perspective, and the second one's Charlie's. since the words resonates on their characterizaton and their development throughout the film. So yeah. I just really have to "slightly" disagree on your interpretaton, but it's okay, we all have our different opinions. Have a nice day :)
The sound quality is breathtaking. Sounds like they are playing in your house. Nice editing. The church choir intro was lovely. The song is haunting. An album full of a narrative. Stories of relationships. Nice. Thank you.
Played this song on repeat over 60x on the first day I downloaded it.... Each time I felt it even more in my soul. The most beautiful lyrics. I always say this, but I think this is her best hit yet.
"I can go anywhere I want, anywhere I want, just not home" Yeah, that really broke me, 'cause I feel like that when I come back to my house at the end of the day...
@@estelle_1989 folklore made me a fan, I discovered her with folklore, hit me like a truck with how celestial she sounds, and has heart-wrenching lyrics with soft and calm sounds. Midnights are amazing but to me, folklore is like the end of the heavens.
folklore is the only album i can say I've listened to more than 5 months straight and not get tired of it, every song hits the same. and that's the album of the year for u 😌
the media: criticizes Taylor for her recent music not being as lyrically beautiful as Red or past albums Taylor: hold my wine *drops THIS lyrical masterpiece of an album*
ujjwal thakur lover was also an amazing album and her lyrics are definitely consistently well done, but she still got snubbed from the Grammy’s for her recent albums (although awards are not everything)
I think she writes in a beautiful, ambiguous way that we can all find a situation in our lives to relate to what she is saying. It doesn't have to be about ONLY a bad/corrupt label or a bad relationship. She pulls from so many aspects of her life to write a BEAUTIFUL, heart wrenching song that we can all relate to in some way. THAT is her genius: pulling bits and pieces from everything she has experienced into a collage EVERYONE can relate to. THAT is why she is one of the greatest songwriters of all times. Love her or hate her...either way, it's because you FEEL her.
expressing pain that is not coming from a romantic place (or from a romantic relationship) is underrated, and i dare say, sometimes its even more painful, like in taylor's case with her label/manager. these are people she worked with for a very long time, and i believed she put so much trust to these people yet they were still able to hurt her.
true and that’s why i personally consider my tears ricochet as her best written song and also track 5 in her entire discography. it’s so vague but something that we all can relate to on an emotional level
It's funny how this was the only song Taylor wrote by herself, and it's the best song in the album. I'm twelve years old, and I'm suffering with depression. I've been listening to this album on repeat, and it has actually helped me get through my mild depression. Thank you, Taylor. You're my hero. Edit: can I just tell everyone how grateful I am for all of you? You all support me, try and get me through this instead of feeding my depression and calling me anorexic (even though I'm not) and I'm so, so happy. Thank you for all the support you've all given me. And I pray that the other teens/pre-teens going through depression get better. Love you all.
@@giovannacruz8601 im sorry to hear that you're suffering, too. And yes, I agree with you. Some songs are so relatable that you feel she's writing about you.
I don't know why, but that Winnie the Pooh cartoon was deep. Me on Sunday morning watching cartoons and then The New adventures of Winnie The Pooh come one and I'm having an existential crisis. She has a unique talent for describing her experiences in such a captivating way that you feel like you're living through it yourself. Her lyrics are so powerful that they make you feel every emotion, every pain, and every joy that she is singing about.

Our Taylor ❤️
Aesthetic is not a word that means what you think it means. Both Dark and Rainbow are both different aesthetics.
My tears ricochet getting the recognition it deserves
Unpopular opinion : this is the most beautifully written song on Folklore.
I totally agree
@@p4nd0rinha87 yass PERIODT 🤍🤍
And she wrote it entirely herself
Agree but all of the songs on folklore are literal masterpieces.
It's the best song in her discography. Better than All Too Well.
I'm on a Folklore marathon and THIS song just broke me into tears.
Love this so beautiful

'i can go anywhere i want, just not home'
hits different when you live in a dysfunctional family environment counting days till you can move away and live your life which was stolen at the hands of abusive narcissists :')
go girl
Yes yes yes yes yes
OMG I'M IN THAT SAME SITUATION. I LOST MY SISTER TO CANCER IN JULY & MY RELATIVES, UNSPEAKABLE, CRUEL, NARCASISTIC MONSTERS. I TOO AM WAITING TO PICK UP & RUN FAR AWAY FROM THE TOXIC BLAME. I GAVE MY SISTER ALL I COULD IN HER LAST 3MO ESPECIALLY & WOULD CARE FOR HER ALL OVER AGAIN. WHAT WAS DONE AFTER SHE WAS GONE, DESPICABLE. GETTING RID OF HER THINGS WITHIN 4 DAYS & LEFT ME WITH LIKELY NOTHING SHE WANTED ME TO HAVE BECAUSE OF THE JEALOUSY OF HOW MUCH WE STUCK TOGETHER. KARMA IS REAL & I CAN'T WAIT!!!
@@dianesamp9102 I'm so sorry for your loss and I genuinely wish you the best.. you and your sister deserved so much better ♥️
@@gaurikakhosla5011 THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR KIND WORDS. I WISH THINGS COULD HAVE GONE SO DIFFERENTLY I'D HAVE GIVEN ANYTHING.
Yes, but imo it can interpreted in different ways🤷♀️
Yeah definitely it can be interpreted in different ways I just interpret it that way because I thought it was most obvious, my apologies if I offended you.
@@Miya-dw8be oh no you did not offend me at all! everyone's opinion is valid💕💫
While the first verse really relates to the film, the second verse also has some "undertones"
(POTENTIAL SPOILER BELOW)
re:
> Ghost - Charlie dressed up as a ghost by the next Halloween on the film, and it's kinda funny, ironic and sad at the same way.
> "Gather stones" might be their ring, since their rings do have stones in there (yep it's really small, to the point that you can't see it XD one of the very -very- small detail that I appreciated on Noah's direction)
> i guess "Same jewels" also means that Nicole's necklace is somehow connected to the line.
Usually songwriters have different meanings in one song. It’s about her own story as well as the story she’s been making up in folklore and evermore.
Unpopular opinion: Taylor's songs she wrote herself alone are her BEST ones
Very true
the entirety of speak now tho-
yes and speak now is the witness

The sound quality is breathtaking. Sounds like they are playing in your house. Nice editing. The church choir intro was lovely. The song is haunting. An album full of a narrative. Stories of relationships. Nice. Thank you.

The most beautiful lyrics. I always say this, but I think this is her best hit yet.
"I can go anywhere I want, anywhere I want, just not home"
Yeah, that really broke me, 'cause I feel like that when I come back to my house at the end of the day...
It’s my favorite line for sure
When the school bus turns into ur neighborhood
I didnt like my home that much when I was in it. Now I'm not allowed to go back an I want to. Grass isnt always greener.
It means she can go to any music label she wants to, but she can’t go back to big machine and Scott who has her stolen lullabies.
This is heartbreaking. Give her her damn songs back. She works so hard, she's incredible.
I feel like folklore will always be my favourite album

@@estelle_1989 midnights is an amazing album but folklore is still the best imo 😅

i feel like her lyrics have rlly stayed so consistently great it’s just applied to a pop genre so people just ignore it
I get your point but I think lover also had more lyrics than Justin Bieber's Career Lmao
ujjwal thakur lover was also an amazing album and her lyrics are definitely consistently well done, but she still got snubbed from the Grammy’s for her recent albums (although awards are not everything)
@@angelanguyen1739 The Fact that Reputation didn't win a Grammy , still haunts me to sleep lmao
We just wanted a selfie or something like that and she gave us a whole damn album we-

expressing pain that is not coming from a romantic place (or from a romantic relationship) is underrated, and i dare say, sometimes its even more painful, like in taylor's case with her label/manager. these are people she worked with for a very long time, and i believed she put so much trust to these people yet they were still able to hurt her.
true and that’s why i personally consider my tears ricochet as her best written song and also track 5 in her entire discography. it’s so vague but something that we all can relate to on an emotional level

This song is perfect for It Ends With Us. Beautiful!
@Sarah Moore thank you very much. I appreciate the support. 😊
I’m totally on that mood too. I’ve been listening non stop this album for the last three months and looks like TS just wrote about me.

I don't know why, but that Winnie the Pooh cartoon was deep. Me on Sunday morning watching cartoons and then The New adventures of Winnie The Pooh come one and I'm having an existential crisis. As for this song and new album I feel like Taylor has some stuff to work through with her past relationships.
Sad but true😭
Why i feel like the six "ooh" before the lyrics symbolizes her first 6 albums. She seems like crying for those six masterpiece of her. I love you Taylor and i'm a forever Swiftie. ♥️♥️♥️

"You wear the same jewels that I gave you as you bury me" Taylor gave one of her rings to Harry, a ring that Harry still wears till this day.

YES I'm thinking maybe a few of these are about him, and she's just at a secure enough place in her relationship with Joe to write about it. OR maybe...william Bowery is harry???
@@oliviam4383 Exactly what I have been thinking! Why do some of these sound like they are about Harry? After all these years? When she is in a secured relationship with Joe? What is happening? Or are we just over thinking it?
@@jeelmajithia378 so I just had this thought -what if each of the songs is a sequel to one of her old songs? And that's why they all sound like her old relationships??

I respect Taylor so much for her exceptional talent. Her ability to write songs about anything in her life is truly remarkable. She has a unique talent for describing her experiences in such a captivating way that you feel like you're living through it yourself. Her lyrics are so powerful that they make you feel every emotion, every pain, and every joy that she is singing about.
