- This is the engine that came out of the 63 Chevy Impala that I had found that had sat in the woods for 32 yrs. I gave it to my good friend Fred and this is what he himself did to it. It is going in his Suzuki Samurai Street Rod. Now that will be a handfull.
That's a good motor , ! My hats off to the guy who rebuilt it . He knows his stuff
Very nice. Love them small blocks especially 327.
There is nothing like a great Chevy 327!
Two guys having a best time in their life that some sort of fun I do the same thing myself me and my buddy we have a good time
That's the sweetest sound I've heard today! I have a 62 with an Edelbrock set-up.
awesome. loving the stand - great skills/creativity
Sounds great takes me back to my younger days.
Man that's a beauty, sounds great, looks great, can't wait to see it all complete I'm the car
Awsome cam sounds good! Sounds like the 327 in my 67 impala! Good job fellas!
Man I miss mine. I had an AMC 327 in my 67 Jeep Wagoneer. Absolute torque monsters. My buddy hade a 67 Camaro with a 327 and the wheel hoops in that thing where violent, of course that was 30+ years ago. Nice vid!
Damn. Really nice and runs great.
Sounds real good. If I didn't know it was a small block I would think it was a big block by the sound.
Good job. Sounds nice !
wow that's sweet well done
A Freakin Home Run! Nice!
Now that is one sweet engine.
Well done.
love the sound of a 327 nice work
Thank you James Williams.
a thing of beauty!
Gentlemen, WELL DONE!!! the motor and the video!!!
Thank you Brett.
oh how i would love to have this in my 72 camino
I like your engine stand
Good lord thats a beauty!
Sounds like a good boat motor
Running a flex plate will make a stock engine sound hi-performance. Without a flywheel, the engine will lope nicely. With a mild cam it'll idle like a hot rod and rev up and back down really quickly. Love it!
Solid lifters rev up and down quickly too
I've always loved the short stroke motors. 327 Chevy and 302 Ford. Great engines
302 chevy is good too!
@@justinriley8651 , Chevy made a 262,265,283,302,307,327 in the 50s and 60s
The 307 is a 283 block with a 327 crank
And
The 302 is 327 block with a 283 crank
@@jimthomas7251 ya I know it's a 4inch bore with a 3 inch stroke. I build chevy engines I know quite a bit about em.
that thing sounds insane
nice sounding cam
Ooooo that sounds nice
I just love those thumper cam series had a couple of em in my motors and i am just so happy to see someone bring this back to life from the death that it was for so long! awesome Build
Fantastic.
Damm thats nice !
Sounds amazing! My brother would love to do this to his samurai. I got some 202 heads off a 327, and im using them on a turbocharged 350 for my mud bogger.
Thank you.
That is awesome
Awesome
Thanks y'all very nice
I would Love to put a 327 Chevy engine in my 1978 Camaro. That is a really nice engine!!
sounds so nice :)
Go Fred!!!!!
Nice motor
Man that thing is nice. I got to build myself a stand, still got a Pontiac 400 I haven't broken in yet.
I love Pontiacs. Thanks.
I would love that in my truck
Lol great plow truck motor
sounds sweet
My brother found a 327 in a combine. A combine is a huge piece of farm equipment for harvesting grain for those that didn't know.
Makes me wanna throw that 307 crank I've had laying around for years in the 350!
We used to put 283 cranks in them.
mark card destokeing it should make it around a 302 cubic inch motor that what they put in the first gen Z- 28 cars if it had the small block in it I remember back in the day you could order it with a cross ram intake with two four barrel carbs that they would installat the dealership where you bought the car from putting out over 500 ponies back then !!!
Just build a 305, you can get them used cheap, and they have 350 rods/crank, just a smaller piston.
Don Rutter the 305 is what you call a thin wall block it's junk as far as making H.P. it's a good motor as far as being stock you would be better off building a 350 or a 327 as far as making horse power !!!
Take that 307 crank shaft and throw it on the trash. If!?! this is a 327, back in the day, it would rev faster than a 350. But with modern cylinder heads that flow WAY WAY more air than any production heads could. You would be better off building a bigger cubic inch engine. Besides the stock block will split in two at over 500 h.p.
I love it. Makes the hair on my arm stand up. I wand a big mutha thumpr in my big block. I been lookin at em. Another great video by hotrod
Thank you Patrick.
Always my brother. I need your expertise on which can I should get. Call me when you get a chance
Patrick Hunt yes I love the thumper cams .I have a 383 stroker motor .
I had a 68 IMPALA with STOCK 327 4 BARREL.
Amazing what sound a "mutha thumpa" comp cam can do to a stock motor. Glad to see it has the hump heads on:)
Criss Malevolent Yes, it should be quite the MONSTER in the Suzuki. Thanks, Me and #CoupeZilla
Criss Malevolent. aluminum heads ? where did you see the humps like on a cast iron head the 202 / 160 corvette heads I'm trying to learn
Glenn Manchester pause the vid at 0:44 and look at the front of the head you will see the humps.
I swear I smelled the paint warming up. lol
Was that an acorn fly out the carb. in the last rev. ? Really looks great . when you showed the engine with all the crap inside it
from acorns to rat nests one wouldn't believe it's the same engine. Fantastic job..
Nice
Sounds fucking awesome....
Pretty cool Hot Rod Ronnie #43!...#9...
Amazing difference, isn't that the motor that was filled with dirt & nutz??...Sounds perfect!
No Junior, this one wasn't quite that bad. Thanks.
That's the coolest shit I've ever seen can you help me with my truck
Nice stand only thing I would have a sealed fuel source a bit of fumes finding the header flame not good
Unreal
You can tell it's a 327 look at that steel canister that holds a long ass oil filter in it it is a drop in oil filter canister type !!!
sounds good
So, it's not a barn find startup. It's a fresh motor.
It’s an engine found buried Check out his other videos
What are the cam specs?
I like
I had a 1969 Camaro with 327 V-8... I wish I still had it.
+JohnnyJTav
btw It cost me $3000 in 1969 new
that is crazy! sure would be nice to have something like that these days!
ive had 2 68 impalas with 327s ,a 55 chevy with a 265,4 camaros,my current 1986 trans am and a 72 chevelle
That's awesome! Love the lope of the thumper cam! Those are the double hump 2.02 fuely heads?
Yes, and thanks for the comment.
any time! She sounded great and the throttle response was right there! She is gonna be a screamer!
Hi Ronnie - Randy from Kansas here. Love your videos...I tell my wife that coupezilla is the greatest hot rod to ever roll on the face of this planet, and she's starting to tolerate my need for a daily coupezilla fix. Anyway, I had seen the video of this motor with the rusted oil pan, crankcase and heads full of dirt and acorns...but now i cannot find it anywhere now. I remember it said (jokingly) something about 1500 hp..and I have searched and searched for it but can't find it. Could you please post a link or tell me the title so I can see it again? Thank you hot rod Ronnie. Have a great day! Oh, Merry Christmas too! :)
Just watched it and came here via the related videos, here it is:
ua-cam.com/video/mACuFTQpHkc/v-deo.html
Sounds like my allis chalmer
Pegged out over 10k rpm. Which came first valve float or B.S.?
Daniel Scott neither, the engine is fine just the rpm meter is off. SBC’s have a Rev limit of about 8500RPM~ there abouts or a little more
Gotta throw the Bullshit card here
Foxmakes model you re an IDIOT
Mmmmmmm
same 202 question and was this what might have been considered a "vette" motor (300hp version)?
Brett, I think this one is just
under the 'Vette moto with 250 to 275 hp. Thanks.
Won't the cold water crack the block like that
Is it for sale
Nasty! I like it! It's goin' in a Chevette, right?
No, but something about the size of a Chevette....a Suzuki Samurai Street Rod
freakineagle Lol. That's something on the to-do list
How is this a barn find worth mentioning if you totally rebuilt it?
10,000 rpm.....yeah right😂😂🤣🤣
Should have no trouble pushing a Suzuki around.
This thing doesnt sound like its running right!!
surf403 It's got a cam
surf403 idling high too, just needs some tuning. Sounds good when he hits the gas!
It lopes because of the over size cam shaft!I had a mustang and it was built my neighbor said it's missing and I had to explain to him about the over size cam shaft!
Wow, I can't hardly believe that's the same engine from the other video. I figured there would be no usable parts. Sounds and looks good. Way better looking than those ugly ass LS engines.
Doosterfy It's come a long ways
Let's see at least 7 grand get with it already show me
Did he say "I had it up past ten" with the rpm's??!! No,,no he didn't!
The TACH setting...
Nice Engine man, and nice set of camel humps on there what are they 194's? they don't look like 202's, because they don't have the angle plugs.
+Chevy King
I have 2.02 heads and they are straight plug. I built the engine in the early 70's. It still sits in a flat fendered Jeep.
Nice I bet that's a bad ass Jeep with a 327 in it.
Chevy King I thought they were aluminum heads but I guess not.. painted silver I thought all the humper heads were 202/ 160 ?? Idk are they ?
I have a set of 462 camel humps that are 2.02. Straight plugs. I picked them up at Radar speed shop for the price of the machine work because the guy couldnt afford to pay after they were done. Ported to as far as you can get them.
how much did you spend on rebuilding this motor?
michael evans I think he spent about $1800 on it. Did all the work himself. Thanks
+freakineagle hey have u ever hear of a dodge sxt or whatever having 3 timing chains in em whoooooo i worked on 1 of em they are a pain in the ass
+freakineagle rebuilding 1 em then the party told me when after i helped em it broke apart i did johnny cash song i hung my head and cried plus fainted
+john wells FUNNY
spent 6 hrs rebuilding and replacing the steel rods at the same time using special tools to hold down the spring for the cam( rocker arms the rods ) needed replaced for the dodge sxt if i member right it had 3 timing chains in it 6 pm til 12 am whew
Anybody ever heard of a road draft plug one this motor?
Patrick Brown It's called an engine. There's no such thing as a "motor". lol
***** engine than! !! Road draft plug was the subject though
Bump
+Patrick Brown the road draft is visible at 0:16 it is plugged, and pcv can be seen in place at 1:04. hope this helps.
+19Luke89 motor-engine= apple-orange lol
Will this fit in my.pinto?
Where is the Big Mutha Thumper cam? Still in the box. Thsts a stock engine with crappy shorty headers
thats the same engine with all the dirt packed in it?!!! hahahaha noooooo wow
No, this is the one that came out of my 63 Impala that sat in the woods for 32 yrs on the ground. Thanks.
Sounds like its running on 7 cylinders
grngs1 Why do you say that?
As John E said at the beginning, it doesn't thump much, its not going rumpita rumpita, its going BA BA BA BA. like its got a dead cylinder, or a cylinder that's not contributing to power. Other "good ears" have mentioned it also. Nice looking engine tho!
Lol wrong.
So you honestly turned it 10,000 rpm? Humm you weren't drinking alot at that time by chance lol
No. He was talking about the gauges and saying the shift light on the tach was set at 10k, and that Ronnie set it so 3k.
Running cold ass water through a hot engine. Bad idea.
No cam
Is ur name Charlie
NO
aluminum block ?? you didn't really find that ? no way ..
its paint.
Glenn Manchester I noticed the aluminum block and heads too lol B/s about it found in a field lol
nick king have you really never heard of silver paint either??? God people are dumbasses.
Por-15 paint. Brush on. You can paint aluminum manifolds with it and they look brand new. I bought a pint and barely used any.
The lower bracket it was copied from somebody else's design cuz I made one too but like I said you copied somebody else's design like me
Scott H ...So what is your point. My point is that I have a very good friend that makes a lot of his brackets etc., and mine for me, by hand so we don't have to buy them. Thank you, Me and #CoupeZilla
Thank you for this insight, it's really a fantastic addition to the conversation. Seriously, thanks a million for this coherent thought.
The only drawback to these engine is heat, they can't take much overheating,of course no engine can take much of that, but the 327 seems can't hardly talk any!!!!!!!!!!!!!
click bait.just a total rebuilt motor starting up.
SHOULD HAVE LEFT IT THERE
it's a f****** junk it's a Chevrolet
Funny how one guy can't just enjoy the sound of a old American V8 without making some stupid ass comment that no one else agrees with. If Chevrolet was such a piece of shit no one would buy one and you wouldn't be here making that comment. That piece of shit was put into production in 1954 when Ford was still making flatheads. It continued in production until 2003, that's 49 years. In total GM produced over 100 million of these so called pieces of shit and in 2011 won the award of best V8 engine of the 20th century. I'd say that isn't bad for an engine designed on paper with a slide rule. But hay that's just my opinion.
It's always the guy that drives a Prius or a Ford focus that talks shit about chevys...
+TreasureSweeper Chevys are French man's dream bow ties went out in the thirties Ford first on race day fast on race day ferocious on race day no damn junk Chevrolet
Joseph Taverna lol.. okie dokie Mr Prius.. lmfao.. oh and by the way, Ford stands for "fuckin old rebuilt Dodge" and "found on road dead" ...
+TreasureSweeper I'm going to stop this conversation and it strikes because I feel like it it's been death threats and everything under the sun over machinery I could be smart and hit you in it that bang joke I'm not even going to go there tonight simply because it's been a long day but I will tell you is this Wise Old Man told me this many many years ago and that is they're all good as long as they're running you have a good night take care
Nice
