Rush of Dread in limited looks like a strong A to me - I am expecting typical "tons of creatures are looking at each other", while a few evasive are going to attack. So in situation 5 vs 5 to kill THREE creatures for 4 mana is absolutely unbelievable
lively dirge is total mana value 4, so it can get two 2 mana creatures, or a 1 and 3 (or a 1 and a 2), or one 4 drop. But it can't reanimate two 4 mana creatures
"Whenever you cast a spell or activate an ability that targets an opponent, or their stuff (spells, permanents, hand, library or graveyard) you are 'committing a crime'." Therefore Rush of Dread is only ever one crime, regardless of how many modes you choose
23:01 if this is a B+, Consuming Ashes 4 mana to exile should at least be a B- 5:42 I think you overlooked the fact consuming ashes does not require the creature you exile to be less than 3 CMC. it's ANY CREATURE
@@soprettymuchthatsthewayitis This is true but also the double black on murder def makes it feel extra expensive regardless of cost, ive had lots of turns where all I could do is cast murder so the 1 extra mana here isn't as much more than murder as it appears. Also disguise and all the indestructable and death prevemtion we see hurts non exile spells. Ur right tho 100%
Neutralize the Guards might play better than you think. It being an instant will make for some very favorable combat situations. Surveil 2 is nice as well.
I think I disagree with Rush of Dread, mainly because it's rounded up. If someone has 3 creatures and has to sac 2 of them, that's a real win for 4 mana. I think its best use is to play at 6 mana to halve their creatures and life, than swing in and finish the game. I'm not saying it's insane, but I think it's better than a D.
Surprised you only gave servant of the stinger a C, it's basically fynn the fangbeaerer with upside and that card was fantastic even though the additional upside didn't really do anything whereas this has an ability that's actually really relevant/ 2 mana 1/3 deathtouch is a very strong statline. Also I think B is a bit high for shoot the sheriff, in some matchups especially it's just gonna feel too narrow.
I heard from Gavin's video that overzealous muscle (creature that becomes indestructible when you commit a crime) was too obnoxious to attack into since you never knew whether it was worth attacking even if you had a 4+ power creature. That's why they made it only work on your turn.
The one thing i think the gigapede has going for it that boosts it above a d+ is that it's one of the only ways to commit a crime on an opponent's turn while adding to the board. Plus, there are a lot of pretty relevant 1/1 tokens running around in this set too. It really depends on if the black decks see a lot of value in those factors, but i could definitely see it being more like a C- or a C, where having the first copy is nice in all but the fastest decks

@@glmcg132 that's recency bias, going back from MID black was rarely the worst colour MID it was 2nd best VOW it was fine NEO it was the best SNC it was weird because it was situationally good, but better than green and red DMU it was fine BRO it was fine, but probably the worst colour ONE it was fine if you were orzhov, but bad otherwise MOM we already know it was really good WOE it was also really good LCI it was the worst MKM it was the worst I had more written up but I accidentally deleted it all :(

Did you incorrectly review the card Lively Dirge? It says TOTAL mana value of 4.
He read it out right, but then got confused in his analysis.

Yeah I'd guess that with the guaranteed mana deficit, dirge goes down to at least a D. NicolaiBolas listed it as a trap to be avoided.

Yeah consuming ashes seems pretty damn good, 4 mana exile with upside was literally a rare called vraskas contempt

I think you're underrating how big of a deal it is to add to the board while removing something

I can’t stand black anymore… especially on Arena. I played 25 games yesterday and I kid you not 23 out of those 25 played black. It’s getting boring.
