Hi Euan, great work as always and I love the sweeping bends you have managed to get. Looks awesome with the modern trains going round. Superb modelling and great scenics.., all the best, Chris
Hi Chris - hope you're keeping well. Many thanks for your very kind comments - very much appreciated. I had the Pullman out for a spin earlier😊 cheers Euan
Hi Euan, fantastic job with the tunnel, it really does look the part! Enjoyed the running session, those large radius curves really do work well with the camera shots! Also great shot with the train with lights on coming out of the new tunnel was top draw shot! Cheers Gary
Hi Gary - many thanks. The bigger radius curves do make a difference like you say. I wa Ted the tunnel to be pitch black when you looked into it and I've managed to achieve that with curved box at the back end of the tunnel. The 66's look good coming out the tunnel with the marker lights😊. Hope you're enjoying the bigger gauge. Cheers Euan
Great video Euan. The tunnel to the helix looks fantastic. I really love the super elevation shots in the running sesh. What a superb layout. Really looking forward to seeing the next update. Kind regards . Simon. 😀
Hi Simon - hope you're well. Many thanks for your kind comment re the tunnel - appreciated. The Pendolino it has to be said does look good leaning into the curve in some of the shots - so glad you enjoyed it. Cheers Euan
Great video, Euan! The tunnel for the Helix enter/exit is brilliant. I don't think I had seen that done before. Perfect. Nice update and the usual epic running session with that great collection of models!
Hi Anthony - glad you like the tunnel to disguise the start / end of the helix. Loved the chance to run a whole host of different bits of rolling stock. Hope both you and Joyce are keeping well.😊 cheers Euan
Hi - many thanks for your very kind comments. The rock face is definitely my best effort to date - that said I did make one error. I, for some unexplainable reason, decided to seal the plaster with PVA - so when I came to paint, the plaster wouldn't take the paint😅. Had to rub the PVA off before I could paint ! We live and learn 😊. Cheers Euan
@@breintonjunction791 Hi Al - many thanks for commenting - always good when your peers give positive feedback on the work done. Very much appreciated 😊 cheers Euan
Good evening Euan! You've done a great job with the approach to the helix, with the tunnel entrance and the plethora of excellent details you've added! I particularly like the rockwork! I like the idea of those plaster moulds, so will definitely be picking some up to play with eventually! They remind me of a product back in the day that I used to use to create buildings on my OO layout! I think it was called Link, or Linka, or something like that! The buildings used to look excellent once they'd been painted, but were a little brittle, and didn't like being dropped! Anyway, I enjoyed the running session too! Great job all round! All the best, Ian.
@@iansngauge Hello Ian. Glad you like the tunnel and rock face. The Hydrocol plaster sets in minutes - so you can get the rocks to use very quickly. Don't do what I did and seal the rock face with PVA - couldn't understand why the rock wouldn't soak up the paints 😅 luckily it rubbed off very easily - so no harm done. Have now added a removable back scene board which defines the area better when filming. Are you going to GETS on the 12th / 13th October. I've booked up today - down on Friday night and back up at 4pm on the Saturday. Cheers Euan

The tunnel mouth has worked very well Euan. The trains looked really good entering and leaving it. As ever the standard of the scenic work is high and very convincing. I thought during the running session it was just like sitting along the East Coast Mainline watching the trains go by. Stephen
Hi Stephen - glad you enjoyed sitting beside the East Coast Mainline 😅. I'm really quite pleased as to the way the tunnel has turned out. Just need to work my way back across the tracks to the industrial buildings and put in some believable scenery. Cheers Euan

Great scenic work Euan, I think one of the most rewarding things about our hobby is when you add the detail - just seems to finish it off. 😁Nice running session too...... Chris
Hi Chris - thank you very much. The detail is what makes any layout stand out - takes ages to bring together but end result is well worth it. Glad you enjoyed the running session 😊 cheers Euan
I totally agree. I enjoy the planning, research and laying track but for me the best part is the detailing. Adding little cameos is fun. If only someone would wire it up for me! 😅
@@thegrowler-blackwoodngauge I've got to leave my layout twice to go into and out of the fiddle yard. I'm going to bring the backscene round and go through it. That is something I will hide away down a cutting and tunnel mouth and trees. Very similar to what you have done. Cheers

@@thegrowler-blackwoodngauge Well good morning Euan, currently en route to the Maldives in search of this thing called ‘summer’ because it missed Ireland completely this year. My baseboards are in the final stages of construction - track is down and wired, point motors in and wired, Absolute Aspects signals are mounted (just waiting on the signal controllers from MegaPoints) and then the control panel should be completed. Once all that’s done then I hope to take delivery around the end of September. In the meantime I need to finish painting all my platform walls and construct a station waiting room. Other than that I think I have all of my scenic materials ready for the project. I did an inventory of my loco and rolling stock last week to update the insurance - oh my… The hobby has gone very expensive, I’m not quite sure how a youngster starts out these days. Hope that all is well with you, so impressed with the progress you’re making on Blackwood. D
@@highlandersixtysixMorning Donald - the Maldives are certainly a better bet than relying on anything resembling summer in these parts ! That said, yesterday here in the West of Scotland was a glorious sunny and warm day. You are certainly busy with work on your layout and I'm sure everything will be to a high standard. Re signals - CR signals are back in production. The gentleman owner had some health issues and had stopped building signals.
