Yep, this made the already pretty difficult UD campaign feel even tougher for first-timers like me at the time. You also lost divine shield and the armor aura, so mistakes were punished much harder.

Can someone explain what happened to Lordaeron City after this scene? Did it fall to the scourge immediately or capitulate later? How exactly did the Scourge conquer the most powerful city in Lordaeron? All of this info is glossed over in game materials and the wiki.
DJ-DeklineOFFICIAL my guess was lordareon was severly weakned though not controlled by the scourge yet(Sylvanas did that) which what the Lich king wanted(to kill off any Major threats to the legion so he can complete his ultimte plan againts the legion)
Arthas raised the royal guards in the room as deathknigths, they killed and raised all the civilians as undead, meanwhile, all the troops that arthas commanded in northren were waiting outside to strike with a shit ton of ghouls, they got crushed and only a few paladins escaped with King Terenas' body
not exactly death knights, but probably just undead legionaires; to be a death knight, you must first be a former paladin whose body is immune to plague and undeath (i.e.: forsaken-ization)
If you some gem of true sight, you could see some ghosts/shades of Lordaeron citizens wandering in the Undercity/Lordaeron City. That heavily implies Arthas massacred everyone inside the capital city.
As iconic as this scene is, you have wonder how ridiculous it ultimately is. Arthas was likely MIA for a decent chunk of time after the king's orders came through for a retreat. His troops we're also likely killed off. Then he walks his way to his father, the king, with a drawn runeblade pointed at him, manages to drive him to his knees and skewers him with said blade and no one, king's guard, soldiers, anyone even attemps to stop him on his tracks? And they say WoW had some bad story telling moments.
Its easy to spot some1 who never read a story and now its commenting on internet saying story was bad.Its also prob you started playing wow recently cuz you 100% dont know story about Arthas.Im pretty sure you never played nothing earlier then pandaria crap and thats why you never heard of Marwyn and Falric the 2 generals of Arthas. They are in this video very easy to spot as you can see them guarding Arthas while he walks to the Lordaeron and at the end the hall where his father is holding the crown.Even tho not shown in cinematic while Arthas was killing his father both generals of Arthas already made the plan of "cleansing" Lordaeron from the living and making them scourge soldiers.SO yea Arthas planed everthing ahead of his Father.Pls dont comment and say the story is "bad" if you dont know full story it makes you look stupid. Also any1 who tryed to stop Arthas was cut down instantly cuz they never stand a chance against Frostmourne.
King Teranas loved his probably more then hes kingdoom maybe he heard from some troops that came back before and said that he slayed the Dreadlord so when Arthas came back he wanted to see him immediately so he knew he was okay and maybe they tough staying in the cold for a long time could make you look like him also they were his 2 captains that he killed then raised from the dead that kept the guards from interrupting Arthas in his ugly deed
and right after this cinematic ur suddenly a shitty level 1 death knight running from guards on a stealth mission
Don't forget. You also need a horse for a stealth mission. Because guards cannot hear horse steps either.
He also lost his chaos dmg and got normal dmg insted

@@HiddenWen i solved this game pretty easy, even vs archimonde last mission without any password
frostmourne ate away his powers and sanity. and since his wish has been fulfilled, it no longer needed to provide the power of chaos to him...
Welcome back my son! That's an interesting piece of armor you're wearing...with all those skulls and death...and that sword...
Yea King Terenas was dumb lol.

Warcraft 3 had some really "dark" moments. Miss it in WoW.
Arthas goes into the king, too close for comfort with sword in hand.

One of my favorite cinematics...

Question why did arphas kill his own father
+Tevya Smolka yep
xLetalis :)
+Tevya Smolka Because he was about to assault the kingdom so he might as well have started by killing the king.
*Arthas comes home looking all edgy, evil and shit accompanied by 2 necromancers

Technically, it was two other death knights. Tomato tomahto, though.

Arthas' entrance reminds me of Anakin climbing up the stairs of the Jedi temple with the 501st.

Funny, I recall seeing marching in w/ two of his bodyguards. Perhaps they were holding off the king's guards/soldiers while this was going on.
How would you know they were Arthas' bodyguards and not the king's? That's the issue; the story in this cinematic is very flawed.
adalvarthepeaceful those two deathknights that follow arthas are called falric and marwyn. They are the captains that followed arthas to northrend
