Preservation of Neighbouring Historic Warships: A Comparative Study of HMS Victory and the Mary Rose.
Fang-Yi discussed her resarch - to understand the degradation and preservation state of oak timbers in HMS Victory and the Mary Rose by using various techniques. This aims to provide information for the development of better strategies to protect these important ships from further damage. The project also includes visualising the timbers’ current preservation state using 3D imaging to explain the condition differences of wood structure and highlight degradation effects. With the hope to increase public awareness and appreciation of the conservation efforts by showcasing these visualisations.
