I’ve made EXACTLY the same margarita as Leo for years. Just slowly gravitated to it thru dozens of small tweaks. Including pinch of salt and the dump - Margarita loves it rough - never strain. On a hot summer day to lower the alcohol and up the liquid I may also add 2 oz of fresh grapefruit juice. Kind of a Paloma tweak.
@Aj66602 I thought about that. Maybe 3/4 lime, 1/2 GM, 1/2 agave nectar and 2oz tequila? I'll have to run that past my palate. Thanks for the suggestion.
2 oz Silver tequila 1-1/2 oz Fresh lime juice 1/2 oz dry curaçao Splash of orange juice Shake, strain, enjoy. The splash of OJ adds enough sweetness to replace any syrup or agave without risking cloyingness.
Never been to Mexico...."Mouth on floor!" I live in Canada, and I can't get enough of this country, best food, best drinks, best beach feel. I completely agree your version is the way to go!

Margaritas are my absolute favorite. Also, I turn 21 in less than 2 weeks! Finally going to be able to try some cocktails from this channel I’ve been watching for 2 years 😉
I’d liked to try your preferred version. Sounds good. Never had it with Dry curaçao instead of Orange Cointreau. Going to make it for 5 de Mayo. If you haven’t been to Rosarito , your not missing out on anything. Our beaches are just as nice here in L.A. 😁 All 3 versions look great though!👍 Cool video 😎
I've been getting into cocktail making over the last few months, and tried all sorts of margarita recipes before settling with a 2:1:1 ratio for both the classic and Tommy's margaritas. I eventually decided to create my own and changed the Cointreau or agave nectar part to a 50/50 mix of both. I was surprised and impressed to see that not only is that how you like to make them, but according to the comments is most people's preferred variation 🎉
La Gloria is roughly 15 minutes from Tijuana. I went down to TJ solo two years ago looking for some adventure. I ran into the same guys two nights in a row partying on Avenida Revolución. They were super cool and happened to be from La Gloria. They took me out to places I would have never dreamed about going alone. Debauchery ensued. After nearly several brawls and entirely too much tequila and Indio beer, they invited me back to their place. We continued to drink tequila in their front yard, until an intensely red and orange sunrise took over the sky. After a sleepless morning, the guy who owned the home told me he had to go downtown to drop off a cell phone to girl who had left it at his place. I asked to go with him. A garbage truck happened to be driving by. He ran out front with the bottle of tequila and let them swig off of it. He later explained this ensured his garbage would be picked up weekly. We started to walk into downtown. A short while later the garbage truck came down the street we were on. He lets me know we were going to ride on the truck into downtown. To my surprise, with bottle of tequila still in hand, instead of getting in the cab he hopped onto the side of the truck and stuck his hand out for me to get on. I jumped up and held on with one hand while swigging tequila with the other. We were both laughing the whole way. While we bumped along the deeply rutted dirt roads lined with dilapidated houses and barking stray dogs, he turned around and yelled back to me "You wanted an authentic Mexican experience??!! Well this is it!!" This memory will live with me until the day I die. This video knowledged me to the fact that La Gloria and tequila have had a long history together. Thank you

I like the second Tommy’ Margarita. Your face is so funny when you shake the shaker which make me laugh. I just started learning making cocktails. Your channel gives me a huge inspiration. Thank you!
Your method is also my preferred version, including the 'shake & dump' technique, with only variation being the use of Reposado and Grand Marnier in place of Blanco and Dry Curacao.
Did you tried doing the margarita with blanco and Reposado or you just always did it with Reposado? I only have Reposado Tequilla and i wunder if I should buy Blanco to try it.
I'm no bartender but I choose to make the margarita my "signature cocktail" mostly because I don't like the taste of alcohol, lol. Anyway, I make this exact drink using Grand Marnier. NOW after watching this video I know I make a banging drink. Thanks for the inspiration to add another drink to the menu by tackling the old fashioned and then onto a rum based tiki drink. I think 3 cocktails is a good start to my home bar
Made a few of these for my wife and I this weekend. The BEST home made margarita by far. Nailed it! (to be clear which one I made, it was the 3rd version)
My preferred Margarita is very similar to yours, except I do 2:1:.05:0.25 ratio. 2oz Tequila (Repo or Blanco) 1oz Lime Juice 0.5oz Curacao/Cointreau 0.25oz Agave Syrup
My take on the Margarita is 60ml blanco tequila, 30ml Cointreau, 15ml lime juice. I shake it with a bunch or regular sized ice cubes and open pour into a highball glass for a sort of semi-crushed ice Margarita.
My preference is Tommy’s because it really enhanced the Agave flavor of the Tequila. When I make a classic Marg I do 1 1/2oz Tequil, 1 oz Cointreau, 1/2 oz Lime juice. I think peoples palettes for Margs have changed so they expect an either sweeter or more balanced drink as apposed to dry
made your fav marg and must say it's my fav too now, not including the deviations where they use fruits, but the little hint of orange from the Cointreau makes it smoother and very dangerous during hot summer days
My margaritas recipe 2oz Repasado .75 oz Cointreau .75 oz lime juice .5 oz Agave Nectar .5 oz egg white (1/2 of a medium egg white) Dry shake 30 sec Shake with 1 large cube and some smaller pieces 10 sec Double strain into a rocks glass with a large cube. Rim or sprinkle with salt. Optional 1-2 dashes Angostura Highly recommend giving it a shot
I've made a lot of margs in my time behind the bar. I feel like all of these would be great for different occasions! My preferred actually uses 2oz repo tequila, 1 oz lime, 0.75oz coin, 0.5 agave. Repo and coin over rocks always tastes better to me, but of course it's personal preference. Also fun to float blood orange cordial.
Really great video, subscribed! My recipe after 1000's of homemade Margarita's is: 50ml Blanco (Typically use Espolon or El Jimador) 25ml Lime Juice 35ml Cointreau 10ml Agave
I searched for any Marg videos you had just last night so this is perfect! I've been making a 2:1:1 tequila:Cointreau:lime for longer than I've taken cocktail making serious(ly fun) and I realized I still just stir and not shake out of old habit. Going to need to correct and try the variations.
I love your videos so much because they have taught me a lot about making and perfecting drinks as I'm relatively new to this, but in all honesty my absolute favorite part is the cocktail shake. The sound is just so satisfying to me for some reason 👌
I won a comp with a marg using balsamic instead of citrus and creme de mure was the only modifier I could get to tame it satisfactorily. Absolute banger.
I enjoy all three of these I was unaware with the agave nectar it was called the Tommy Marg. I definitely usually drink the last one to give a little bit of everything. Cheers!
Just stumbled onto this video and decided to go to the store and make the third version. I'll never buy premade margarita mix again. This is so good. I did a small tweak, years ago we had margaritas made with a float of grand Marnier. So I tried adding it and it gives it a little more citrus kick!
Love the juicer! I'm buying that through your link. How convenient! Your preferred margarita is very close to my preferred margarita, except I use 1 ounce of Cointreau or Dry Curacao, 1/4 ounce of agave, and a pinch of salt in the shaker.
I learned how to make my margaritas from your channel a while back, and have been making them your "preferred way" ever since. Super delicious and balanced. I like to add the salt into the shaker. I love muddling some cucumber into the tin before shaking, too 😋
@@WatanabeNoTsuna. The measurements of ingredients are all the same, so yes, it is still his recipe. They're good proportions and have a great balance of flavor. Margaritas are a base; add what you want.
I like them all but my personal favorite is 2.0 oz Suerte Blanco 1.0 oz Fresh Lime 0.5 oz Organic Agave Nectar .25 oz Fresh OJ (tames acidity does not at flavor) Pinch Salt Shake No Garnish
We used agave nectar in the latest 80s/early 90s in Cabo. Topped it with a float of Damiana and called it the “dangerous don” after my dad. The last version you did is pretty much the dangerous don outside the damiana float
I know I'm a couple years late to this vid, but I've been going down the rabbit hole of margarita recipes recently and stumbled on what I think is a neat variation. It is very similar to the last recipe in this vid, but I use a good repo instead of a blanco and an orange liqueur called Naranja instead of Curacao or the usual trinity (Triple Sec, Cointreau or Grand Marnier). The combination of the repo with the Naranja gives the drink this really neat "smokiness" (best way I can describe it) that you don't get with other recipes. It's definitely a vibe that won't work for everyone but has become my favorite way to make a margarita.
Did you try it with gran Marnier instead of Cointreau or orange curaçao. I use that more coz it's what I have at home. But not sure how much difference it makes.
@@monoyamono We've tried 9 different orange liqueurs, including Grand Marnier. The GM is great but significantly different because of its brandy base. I've also come to the conclusion that there's no one "best" recipe but rather a lot of good ones for variety and for varying tastes.
My preferred recipe is a little bit more other stuff relative to the tequila. 1.5 oz blanco tequila 1 oz triple sec .75 oz lime juice .75 oz simple/agave
Here is Sydney Australia, we have an amazing little bar called Cantina OK. They do the absolutely best margi I’ve EVER had. They split the base 50/50 blanco and mezcal, use a load of lime and orange oil and serve over shaved ice. Amazinggg
Chili Margarita (best ever Margarita I have ever tried) - 85g tequila - 1 lime's juice - 20g Cointreau - 20g Agave Syrup (normal syrup will do) - 2 drops Tabasco sauce - Garnish with green chili slice on top
Try muddling a few slices of jalapeño in the bottom of your shaker tin before you add your ice and other ingredients. Gives a nice kick as long as you don't overly smash the pepper (then it gets a little too vegetable-y). I like to toss in a couple of blackberries, too. Definitely gonna try your hot sauce method next time
@@alejandrogonzales7022 I got the one I mention there from a fancy magazine and I tell you... my wife and I can´t have enough of them. The half green chili sliced transversally is really important as the aroma as it will add that extra kich and goes right to your nose when you sip it. Of course some sea salt on the top. I will try yours with the jalapeños!
It's wonderful to see how far your production has come after watching some of your earlier videos! Great margarita repetoire also, the combo AKA your favourite is a beautiful version! 11/10 would drink!
Your preferred marg recipe at the end didn't list the Curaco. Our family's preferred marg is similar, but we use a little Sprite instead of the agave syrup for the extra sweetness. Also adds a little volume, works great.
Literally just ordered this juicer, couldn't figure out what it was called. Also - love to see that your preferred is the same as mine, to the tee. I'll sometime switch out curacao for gran marnier to make it a bit sweeter.
My go to margarita is almost the same as yours. 3/4 oz lime 3/4 oz agave syrup 2 1/2 oz Reposdo tequila 1/2 oz Grand Marnier I call it The World's Best Margarita
I like the last one, the most- was that on an episode of "ARCHER"? The dirty dump is the MOVE!!! Dave Arnold was the first to REALLY illustrate why it's effective, to me.
Love your style man, generally go for a trad Margarita with Curacao myself in place of Tia Maria (although Grand Marnier is a real treat), with no Agave or syrup (like my cocktails tart rather than sweet) and usually drink up. However if you serving on Rocks I always shake and dump, same with a Daquiri, mainly because I only have limited room in my freezer for Ice but like the ice chips and higher level of dilution. I say up for a pre-dinner drink but on the rocks for an afternoon BBQ
My preferred margarita is almost identical to yours, though I use Triple Sec over curacao, b/c it's what I often have on hand. Freepour into the glass with salt in the tin. I've used repo tequila mostly b/c it's what's usually in the house, but I don't mind blanco either
Great and enjoyable video! I always loved to do kind of a mixture between a Tommy's and a regular Margarita, so great to see that this ist not an absurd idea but your favorite, too. 😃
I usually make my margaritas with 1/4 teaspoon of a 5% salt solution. It's just enough salt to bring out the flavors, and the little bit of saltiness that is left over really makes it feel more refreshing.
I like doing 2, 1, 1 for a Margarita...a top shelf Reposado, Grand Marnier, fresh lime juice, and bar spoon of agave nectar or simple syrup; salt only on half the rim.
The joy on your face when you shake a cocktail is the kind of energy I need to capture in my life. Keep kicking ass!

Looks delicious. Can you recommend a good vid on what a Broken Skull Margarita is? I need to see that.
It's wonderful to see how far your production has come after watching some of your earlier videos! Great margarita repetoire also, the combo AKA your favourite is a beautiful version! 11/10 would drink!
I agree Calum, it keeps getting better. Same goes for you also!
@@bostonshakerbarmooloolaba7591 Flattery will get you EVERYWHERE hahaha thanks Livi
Thanks, I'm making Fajitas and Margaritas for my wife and her friends for tomorrow. I used to bartend, but I was fuzzy on a good MG.
Love your back bar 😍 , and your channel of course !
was very surprised that Leandro's preferred margarita spec is the exact same one i made up at home for myself
Great minds my friend
I'm partial to the classic myself. Gotta love a good margarita!
3/4 oz lime
3/4 oz agave syrup
2 1/2 oz Reposdo tequila
1/2 oz Grand Marnier
I call it The World's Best Margarita
mine is similar, I'll have to try these specs next time I work!
I like the last one, the most- was that on an episode of "ARCHER"?
The dirty dump is the MOVE!!! Dave Arnold was the first to REALLY illustrate why it's effective, to me.
The Smile 😊….. Killer 👌
I enjoyed this. do you have name for your preferred Margarita?
My preferred margarita is almost identical to yours, though I use Triple Sec over curacao, b/c it's what I often have on hand. Freepour into the glass with salt in the tin. I've used repo tequila mostly b/c it's what's usually in the house, but I don't mind blanco either
Thank you- love the margaritas for senoritas lol
Awe man I feel the sourness in drink 1 when you drank it. No sugar content.
I think your preferred is now my preferred.🤙🏼
Rosarito was also my first time in Mexico. I prefer puerto Pensaco/rocky point for a close to the border vacation
Loving me that hand juicer! ❤️
The third Margarita you showed ... I also make a similar version, but instead of the 15ml of Dry Curaçao, I use 10ml of Blue Curaçao.
I'm usually 2oz tequila, 1oz lime, 3/4oz agave syrup (watered down nectar) and 1/4oz dry curaçao
