I never fail to weep throughout performances of the War Requiem. I think it's one of the finest things he wrote. I don't think I can put myself through another performance ever.

That canon isn't wicked fast, but the performance sure is :(

Non uno dei grandi compositori del Novecento ma IL PIU' GRANDE insieme a Stravinsky!

Yes, I fully agree. The thing I most admire about Stravinsky, Britten (and Debussy) is their extraordinary skill at orchestration, which is integral to their musical conceptions.

In my opinion, Britten is overrated. Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Rachmaninoff and even Copland were all much greater composers.

No, no, David Owen Norris. “Albinoni’s” Adagio was composed and published in 1958 by Remo Giozotto. It had zero influence on Britten’s childhood compositions of 1925.

Calling a spade a spade, Britten was a pedophile right? His music is beloved but it's really grim to think we still praise him when even his friends knew he was abusing children

Am I missing something? Where does it mention abuse? Sure, these days a close-knit friendship with children is seen as odd, but then I don't think it necessarily was.
