hot take: i honestly wish that ivy had been the main historical character from the 70s and julie had been her best friend. don’t get me wrong, i like julie and her collection but having ivy be the 70s girl instead would’ve provided some of the asian representation we’ve been asking for for years!! plus ivy is just adorable 🥰
It is only for Asian representation reasons that she should have been the main character. I don't think her character was very interesting tbh.

I think the Twins that represent the New Millennium that were released this year should have just been an Asian doll.
Caroline should be back! Brigerton is hugely popular and is of the same timeframe. Diversity matters so MG and Ceci need to come back, same with Ivy! I would love the best friends dolls to return and I think original GOTYs should come back like a nostalgia 2000s thing, plus it is 20 years since Lindsay came out!

I have Caroline and I got her just a year before she retired. I only have the doll and her purple gown and gloves The only down side is that her hair is a little tiny bit less curly and little bushy

I know! I loved Marie-Grace and Cecile, Ivy, and Ruthie! And I was disappointed when they brought back Samantha that they didn't bring back Nellie as well. Ivy is important because she was the very first Chinese American Girl character. I had a friend who got one of the first Chinese My American Girl dolls because she couldn't find a Chinese doll cause she was Chinese. Her mom was the one who introduced my mom to American Girl.
I have Marie Grace, Cecile, Ivy, Ruthie, Nellie, Caroline, Kanani, Lindsey, Grace, Tenney, and JLY#4. Very happy to have these dolls in my collection. I always try my best to get the retired ones.
If I see a cheap retired doll I try to get them
they should bring back the best friends for a limited rerelease. i miss ivy, ruthie, emily, cecile, and marie grace so much.
Ok buuutt I just feeel bad for the people who already bought them overpriced because of them being gone and now they came back for probably $150 good for me iguess but .....not for the collectors who spent a lot of money on the dolls
Cécile and Marie-Grace are not part of the best friends line. They were released as a duo, and are both the main character.
Ivy and Ruthie deserved better
I’d love it if AG would bring back some of there old historical characters and maybe make more dolls from the 1800s and maybe the 1700s since I love those time periods and the clothing from those times especially the 1830s when they had the big puffy sleeves are so cute.
Also AG said the reason they retired all the best friend dolls was so the girls could be the dolls friend which really doesn’t make a lot of sense but whatever. Personally I think they should bring back the line and make new friends for there newer historical dolls.
They made Logan Tenney’s best friend, the world by us dolls are friends

@AllycatlovesAG Logan was definitely a best friend doll, but while the World by Us dolls are all friends, I wouldn't consider any of them "best friend dolls" as their all treated as equal, where as in a BFF duo like Samantha and Nelly, it's clear Samantha is the main character and Nelly is the best friend.
i only know what the war of 1812 is because of caroline- i love this video and agree with almost* all of it
Cecile is one of my all time favorite dolls in my collection!! I’ve been on the lookout for a cheap Marie-grace that’s in nice condition and I hope I can get one soon! Caroline is another one of my all time favorites and she needs to return as well! Nellie is also another one of my absolute dream dolls. I love my Kanani but I don’t like the changes they made to her skin tone/mold in recent years at the doll hospital because mine looks so different!! And of course I need the number 4 mold to return!

I agree with all of these! Tenney, too. The only thing that wasn't the most unique about her was her appearance, her collection is great. I wish I'd gotten something from it. I really wish AG had more music-themed dolls that weren't dancers, like band, choir, or orchestra (theatre/ musical theatre too). I think there are only one or two that have that.

I’ve had a Marie-Grace doll since I was 6, the year she came out. I hate the aspect of retiring dolls because of the resellers online making it almost impossible to collect dolls because of horrible pricing. I’ve seen Marie-Grace in worse condition then my well played with doll sold for over 200 dollars.
I really want Cecile to go with her but at these prices there’s no way
Ivy has been a doll I’ve wanted for awhile, and I was just just able to find her for a reasonable price on Mercari! I’m so excited.
I am not very interested in owning Tenny, but I think more southern dolls would be nice. Especially as a southerner

Julie is one of the best selling Ag dolls so it makes sense that they made Ivy
I love Ruthie! I'm trying to get my hands on one. Although, I got my Kit doll in 2002 and her skin, stringing, and hair are SUPER aged after years of rough play, so even if my Ruthie is fairly used, they're going to be an interesting looking pair 😆
i clicked on this video because i really like collecting dolls ! and now me realizing that i have a very well taken care of caroline with her meet outfit and accessories with no stains or missing items i consider myself very lucky
not that there isn't much asian representation in the historical line, there's literally none right now 😭
When filming I wasn’t sure if Nanea was part Japanese or not, I confused her with Kanani. I looked it up while editing so I cut out part of it
They should bring out an Asian girl for the 1870'es. That was when soany came to North America and built railroads. A very sad part of North American history although it was good they were built. It was at the cost of many Asian lives.

I actually have the mint green dress of Emily’s and it’s not quite as minty but more turquoise. It’s definitely one of my favorite outfits and I would recommend if you can find it for a normal price

Hi, I would love to have Sonali, Nellie and Cecil back out for sale. They are so beautiful and I love their outfits too.
The war of 1812 in North America was when the U.S. attacked Canada but had to retreat and therefore lost. That is not clear from the Caroline books since it has a more flattering view of the American retreat.
As a Canadian, you may have heard of Laura Secord. Look her up. She is a Canadian heroine who did her part in saving Canada.
The Canadians set fire to the White House in that war. All in all, the Americans completely underestimated the resistance they would meet, and their ultimate capitulation.
Caroline should have stayed for much longer and should still be available at AG

Take this with a grain of salt but a day I was doing some research on Wikipedia and I read something about how American girl was planning on doing a musical style movie for Julie and one could guess that that was to go inside with the Ivy doll but I guess since the best friend dolls didn’t make it much money as they thought it would they pulled the plug on Joey‘s musical movie I don’t know if they ever did make a movie for Julie but I know that they did like a short series with Netflix at one point that primarily focused on ivy
Since AG has create your own they should make it so we could order dolls that have been discontinued.
I’m thankful I have Caroline in my collection though
They should not have discontinued #58 an shouldn’t have cubed Addy, although I know they’ve recently done the relaunch.
I'd love to get eitther Felicity or Elizabeth. I love their rococo style dresses.

Ivy actually got her own movie kinda… the Ivy and Julie movie on Amazon prime talks more about Ivy rather than Julie (since Julie like only shows up for 5 mins) which imo is like amazing because we get to learn more about an Asian-American’s life in the 70’s which as a Filipino I love the Asian representation

It depends on your collection and what you feel like you're missing. Do you have a doll with green eyes? A Jess mold etc

What do decal eyes and not decal eyes mean? What does that relate to?
Decal eyes I believe are more like a sticker with a design on them, compared to pinwheel eyes which have small lines

IVY YES. We need her and it's a damn shame about their lack of diversity. I kid you not, they retired truly me #28. Very important doll to me because it was the only doll that I saw myself in. I used to own it as a kid and gave it away to my cousin 5 years ago. Now I was trying to rebuy her and she's retired. I resorted to buy one off of eBay. I'm biracial and sad that there isn't many dolls that resemble biracial kids/ppl.

I think there was a single day in hs where we did but I think it's v minor compared to other wars we were taught abt that usually take a few months to teach
