  • This 230 kilometre hike goes through many First Nations Australian Sacred Sites of the Arrernte people, who have kindly permitted hikers to visit! The Arrernte people have moved around this area for 20 thousand years. From an early age the Arrernte children learn the maps, songs and Dreaming to navigate this ancient landscape! The West Mac Donnell ranges is home to one of the oldest river systems in the world! This is a truly amazing hike and we were privileged enough to receive a talk from a park ranger at Simpsons Gap who was an Australian First Nations Elder. These talks were occurring every Monday and were a highlight of our hike.
