  • Thank you for joining me in my review of Ker Nethalas, the excellent Dark Fantasy Solo TTRPG by Alex T. of Blackoath Entertainment. I've greatly enjoyed my time with the game to this point and look forward to many more hours! I highly recommend the game, so please stay to find out why!
    Ker Nethalas can be purchased on DriveThruRPG and Amazon and it worth every penny!

    Thank you so much for your kind words and for this fantastic review! I'm definitely aware of the couple of issues the game has, so even though I can't now go and re-arrange the layout (it would be too disruptive), I'm certainly trying to do better in the future. Same with the wording, I'm trying hard to be more precise with my explanations, instead of assuming people will understand. I'll get there!

      Are you going to update the PDF anymore? Not rearrange everything, but fix, reword and explain rules better that people are having the most trouble with?
      I appreciate you so much! Not only for a great game, but being willing to personally deal with players and their questions. Amazing! I am so glad Ker Nethalas was the first solo-RPG I came across.

      @@JRF2k I'm doing what I can, but the problem is that I'm confined to the existing layout. So I can't really change that much because that would mean redoing a section, which would mean redoing the next one, and so on. It's a real domino effect. I keep tweaking with I can, and I've resized some images or moved things around within a page, but the second something requires more than that it's simply not possible. I have version 1.5 in the works, with more tweaks and fixes, but as usual, all minor stuff. Thanks so much for playing my game!

    Thank you for the review! Could you please share you thoughts about your game experience? Do you find this game easy or hard in terms of character survival. Does characters die often? How do you feel about pacing and tempo of the game? Is it slow in terms of character and exploration progress? How many hours it usually takes to complete a domain and to level up?

      Thanks for watching! I would say it’s a bit on the challenging side, but not too crazy once you get used to the mechanics. Death can come swiftly if you aren’t careful with managing resources and conditions. Pacing is excellent and things move along fairly quickly, both exploration and progression. Sometimes fights can get a bit long, but I’ve yet to have anything that was extreme. Mostly only overseers will give you a drawn-out fight which is be expected with how powerful they are!

      You should check out Geek Gamers or the Dungeon Dive channels' reviews, they go into a lot more detail on stuff like that!

    So bummed that I didn't know about the hardcover edition until watching this video, well after they're all sold out. Even more bummed that they're not doing another print run of it. 😭😭😭

      Very nearly missed it myself as I found out about the game after the Kickstarter was over. It wasn't cheap, tho 😢😅

      Great to hear! The Ker Nethalas Survivors Guild on Facebook, and the Blackoath Discord are very helpful if you have any rules questions or anything. Thanks for watching.

    Thanks! How’s the replayability in your opinion? Is it a game I can play 10,100 or 1000 times?

    • @SeekersHollow
      @SeekersHollow  Місяць тому +1

      @@DanBP21 It’s very good, especially if you have both zines and a third zine is planned already. Additionally, a spin-off game in the KN world, Carnage & Aether is coming around September and it will expand the world and gameplay systems. I just finished my final playthrough session with my character Jedd and I’m already thinking about what character I want to build next for some casual off-camera fun. Hope that helps!

      @@SeekersHollow Thanks!! May I ask one more question? I’m deciding between buying the physical book vs PDF. Would you have an opinion about this ? I bought the physical book of Starforged, because the book is beautiful. Thanks again !

    • @SeekersHollow
      @SeekersHollow  Місяць тому +1

      @@DanBP21 I always prefer a physical book for anything except a small zine (50 pages or less) I use my Amazon copy for when I’m actually playing. It’s very functional and cheap and the quality is acceptable for the price. The book in this review is the Kickstarter offset edition which is no longer available.

    I don't understand the game - you start off with being executed...then you find yourself somewhere else? Is that correct? is there any hint as to waht is going on? Are you in purgatory?

      @@misomiso8228 The execution was botched, so you find yourself in a corpse pile, but you are still alive. The corpse pile is in an under city necropolis full of horrors!
