I love Blackpink, but I've found that I could never bring myself to call myself a Blink exactly for the reasons you listed. The lack of discography, the redundant sounds and themes in their songs, the toxicity of the fandom, and also the overhype around them have all made me want to keep a distance of sorts from the group. I personally do not think they deserve this much popularity when they have such a lack of activity. Let's face it, if BP didn't come from a Big 3 company, they would have been forgotten a long time ago regardless of how talented each member is.
as a dancer, i definitely agree their earlier choreos are way more challenging and interesting. now a big part of their choreos is just them walking around except for the choruses. really doesn't showcase the girls' skills.
I agree. I feel that apart of the problem is that the members have improved their skills at different rates. For example, Lisa is a very enthusiastic performer while Jennie is a very inconsistent performer so when you compare the two members the difference is very noticeable. The group hasn’t grown musically and have improved in their skills at such different rates that they at times become unsynchronized while preforming. Other groups have been able to grow together with their skills and music but BlackPink hasn’t been able to do that.
As another dancer, their new choreos are honestly really boring since they do tend to just walk around. I really miss their old choreos, they were more fun.
Money can change people. Yes these girlies might started out pursuing their dream but when they realized they can still make banks without any efforts and even their fans defending their every actions, they might just not care anymore. Why spend hours in improving your singing and dancing when you can just look pretty?
honestly its disheartening seeing these girls lose interest in their dreams and its even more disheartening seeing how popular they still are as idols. theres so many passionate and talented groups out there who wont ever get the attention blackpink gets, and its just sad for everyone
That's the music industry for you in today's era. They always start out humble and grateful for the opportunity. But then once the money comes in and endorsements and become sponsors and brand embassadors, they reach celebrity status and are labeled as celebrities instead on inspiring musicians or artists. This tour going on now from what I read is because it's part of the YG contract so it's possibly forced and they'll probably end up lacking energy or eagerness to want to be there as much almost like a " ughh " moment. Not just in K pop, you see it in standard pop too, these artists stamped their name into pop immortality that they see themselves as higher people than their fans or crew who does all the hard work
I really never understood why Blackpink was so hyped up. I mean this group is literally hyped up to the heavens by people and I just don’t under it. Their songs, their vocals, their raps, their choreography….I could never see what was so jaw dropping and awe inspiring. They aren’t horrible trash but they aren’t anywhere near spectacular. They were always just mid for me. I was completely turned off from then when I saw a performance of their on some American show and it looked like I was watching a car fire. It was bad but I couldn’t look away. It really made me realize how much all that fancy camera work they do in Korea carry their performances.
Same here. You can’t help but mention other groups that are totally underhyped and underrated yet every member is jack of all trades. Can do everything excellently, without excuses of “health issues” and whatnot. I guess it’s really a game of popularity, as well as for the endorsements. Even Jisoo’s new solo track, she’s really stiff no matter how hard she tries.
They just aren't spectacular in any particular area, and most of the time they don't even look like they want to be performing. im sure theyre great people but they lack the passion of being an idol and i wouldnt be surprised if they disband in the near future to pursue careers in acting or modeling
I remember their debut. The reason of their popularity is amazing timing. 2ne1 disbanded, CL has pretty good solo career, there no other new girl groups (only twice and their debut wasn’t bombastic at all, sadly). There was end of YG long story with Big Bang and 2ne1, their biggest groups, so everyone was waiting for their new group. And obviously YG was hyping up their debut. Black Pink had strong start, but after two albums they vanished. No one thought that new YG group is a money grabbing hybrid of a group. Like nobody in the building even care about music they produce. Melodies are so outdated is scary 💀
@@a_slug I'm not much of a kpop fan so I'm not really familiar with this group's music but I remember watching a reaction video for a rookie PPop group called G22 and the reactor said they're like Blackpink but better. And I was surprised by that because Blackpink is like one of the most famous girl group this generation. So they must really be just overhyped?
At this point it's funny to me when people say that they should be freed from yg because they're artists and want to pursue music....them being artists and passionate about music is nowhere seen, especially on the last tour. Let's be honest, if they wanted they would find a way to release more music , even for free. To contact their fans regularly too. Stop making excuses for them yall. They're bored with their music and they embarass themselves as performers. Just go back to being models and influencers, that's the path they enjoy the most either way.
I am blackjack, I can see sparks from 2ne1 members, even tough Dara haven't make new song yet, she still has the spark... and it showed in Coachella 2022. BP in another hand, some of members looks not excited with their things. I thought Lisa and Rose still have some power to continue, but the only one left just Lisa.
Ong. If they left yg they’d have to work more lmao. Yg doesn’t care anymore bc babymonster is the new blackpink and he is gonna push them more now that he knows blackpink doesn’t care abt their career and can easily go into other careers like acting and stuff.
one year on and you were literally right, they are really hyped for being models/ambassadors for big brands and social media influencers. On weverse, to give a short message or livestream to fans, every single one (apart from jisoo the 'off-screen social one' as this guy put it in the vid) is paid content. Who is going to pay for an 'annyeong paris blinks' on weverse after their super expensive tour shows Now they are MBEs, because of all the girl crush hype and 'trending' he blacklabel/blackpink image/LISA on tiktok/JENNIE's tv debut on an r-rated show. They have definitely steered away from the k-pop image, as Lisa hinted at at the end of their old Netflix doc, and have steered towards just pop artists. They are very independent young women (as they should be) now and just don't have that group synergy or deep connection to their fans since their recent lucky hype for the individual members, steered them away from the strategised control of their management. Their group doesn't have a deeper message behind it anymore - and to be honest - for them to aim venture away from the k-pop image and to just 'pop' as Lisa once conveyed - will not be good for them as a group, in terms of how their fans (not stans) will perceive them tbf, because they are wanting+promoting more things *individuall*y than together (the 2023 tour feels like their performances on 'loop mode' and there's this conviction of showing off their newer, westernised [no problem, go figure but-] discography). I love the girls but I don't know if I can listen to another radio show interview of the group to hear Lisa, who speaks English, go quiet - and Rose, the fluent one go all-out... with nothing of substance to say to fans or anything to say with passion. Everything feels very monotone with them. You're right they should lit just be models or idk, go on solo career-ventures
Blackpink has more control on their work then people think. They boast of it consistently. Consistently. If they do break from YG, then they better be dropping some major hits after they leave. Because if they’re that talented, it shouldn’t be a problem. Just because someone can write doesn’t equate to them being good at it.
@@farkhodovakamila7 Blackpink can literally just tell their company to release new music. 22 songs on their discography is literally a joke. There is no way they can't decide their schedules or at least make a statement about their schedule.
@@48hearts they can suggest more, they can ask for more, but ultimately its up to the company. there have been examples of kpop idols begging to let them release more music, and some idols leaving their companies, Jimin and Got7 of JYP for example
@@cobaltblu4196 Yep. It's sad that they are talented but can't show it. I'm not a blink (the fandom and the music need to get fixed in my opinion) but they really need better opportunities.
omg yes, that's what I'm saying! Lisa is like the only one who tries, and I have even thought of becoming a solo Lisa Stan just because she seems to be the only one who cares, and aways tries. I have never been a blink, I have no interest, but I could make an exception for Lisa.
in my opinion giving perfect performances should be awarded to rosie rather than lisa as rosie sings and dances at the same time unlike lisa who was performing great but holding mic in her hand as a showpiece i mean she is an outstanding idol but but after a performer she is a rapper/singer too jennie was great at performing specially her way of hyping up the crowd lets remove the inconsistancy thing ok then if we see she is also a very great performer same goes to jisoo
I saw a video of a creator long ago that explained it really well. It was called “Self-Insert” or something where she broke down the psychology of BP fans and why the group was so popular without really trying.
I think it lacked something or they should've gone full ballad / emotional since it's not the comeback. Because I really liked everything besides the chorus.
Like imagine Beyonce coming out with 2013 EDM, her career would flop 😂 The fact that Blackpink makes music 10 years behind and people ignore it and call it amazing is shocking.
I actually really dislike ready for love. It's their worst song ever imo 💀. I like the rest of them tho so it's all good, I just really don't like ready for love lol
When blackpink debuted in 2016, they were huge because everyone loved the idea of bad girl/girl crush concept. It was new at the time and everyone loved the drops and pattern in their music. I didn't like their songs at first but eventually grew to love them and became a stan months later. Then I lost interest after KTL because I felt it wasn't worth the long wait and expectations I had from them at the beginning. I'm disappointed because they never tried to grow past the initial hype they got at debut. They weren't shown to have an specialty besides being your regular kpop group, plus their comebacks are not consistent, even when the songs are mediocre at best. They lack alot lately and I'm just so sad because they had so much potential to be a solid group at the start. Now, even I've realized that the previous passion they had for being an idol, is gone.
what I remember, people excited because 2ne1 still a thing in 2016. being a sister group from a legendary group, surely brings out lots of opportunity, like their fans or maybe brand deals. but I am the blackjack who got hurt after their company decide to scrap 2ne1, so I never support BP after Whistle. the opportunities they have make them "lazy".
@@1991rendrawati You're right. That could also be one of the factors, since a lot of people expected much from them as 2ne1's sister group. But I remember at that time, people disliked blackpink because they thought YG disbanded 2ne1 because of them. But this dislike eventually faded out because of their concept. At the time, girl crush/badass concepts were dying. 4minute disbanded, 2ne1 disbanded and YG was using 2ne1's disbandment as a means to promote them.
@@meika_lee I wasn't until November 2016, when YG disbanded 2ne1 while Dara and CL were out from country. I've got hurt because the comments from Yang Hyun Suk about BP being the prettiest version of 2ne1. Gosh... Why don't make them actually sister than make them villain to each other?. If BP didn't have same concept as 2ne1, the story would be so different. Now, they only milked their fans out.
I think its because fans are hungry for the next 2ne1 after they disbanded them. I am a Blackjack myself and I feel bittersweet that time coz my fave gg disbanded but then YG brought out BP. I didn't blame them for 2ne1's disbandment though coz Idk the details behind the scenes for me to judge the situation that time. I listened to them until Playing with fire, watched all the music shows they've been on but it just eventually became repetitive for me every comeback after that. Also, I had this misconception that since they are from YG, that they would do hiphop like what 2ne1 did but I got disappointed because they are no different from other ggs. The only difference is they came from YG but its the same sexy stuff that other gg did. And I can't see them as badass or girlcrush but I see them as cute/sexy though and idk why. I don't want to drag any other gg here but If I would think of girlcrush nowadays, I think it would be XG. They really did girlcrush on their debut with Tippy Toes.
Girl crush was not new at the time, it was only refreshing because it was another YG girl group re-introducing the concept which originally 2NE1 founded and YG used as the blueprint for BP
Agree 100%. I went to their concert and I was mesmerized on how amazing and great they are! They sing/rap live from start to finish and you'd never see them give any half assed performances! ❤
The two big reasons why I stopped standing Blackpink are: - The toxicity of the fandom. Most of the fans are very young kids. That means, they don't really know what kpop is. They stan only Blackpink, say it's the best group and hate on other groups, because the fans prefer their group than Blackpink. This is not normal. - Lack of comeback. When a group does 1 comeback in a year and a half, especially in kpop, where the standards are a comeback every 6 months. This is YG's fault. Sadly Treasure also went through this. But still... 22 songs after 6 years... That's also not normal...
I left the fandom 3 yrs now, because the fandom have more solo stans than as a group and very agreesive, 2nd fuck yg one of the worst big company even knetz hate that company
Yes I agree with this!!!! Most of the toxic fans are kids they literally attacking every girl group without even knowing what is kpop. These fans didn't want any of idols singing and dancing...!!
That's the reason why I had to leave this Fandom first of all the toxicity of this Fandom and second that I don't really feel these girls like making music .
When I compare their music with Mamamoo, RedVelvet, Twice, Gidle, ect. I get confused on how they got big in the first place. A lot of their music is just bad EDM? Idk, it was impossible for me to get into them
Honestly, I loved Black Pink when they debuted in 2016 and I decided to stan them 'cause I believed YG will not mess things up this time, not as with 2NE1 (a.k.a my first ultimate group in k-pop, I wouldn't be there if it wasn't for them lmao). "Playing with fire" was one of my favorite songs that year, I couldn't choose a bias - it was all going well. But then the next few years happened. As much as I still wish them the best, I don't feel like Black Pink are a k-pop group anymore. Like you said, there are groups that debuted later than BP and already have more quality songs. BP hardly ever are given songs at this rate, and not only that, most of them sound very alike (at least in my opinion) - no offence to Teddy but I feel like he's not even trying to make something distinctive. I could literally make categories of "BP songs type" and put 3-4 songs in each category, including "Ready for Love" (which by the way is not bad but there's something icky about YG releasing a song long known from leaks after almost 2 years). YG is wasting the talent of four amazing girls. Lastly, the common argument used by Blinks (and not only) is that "western artists release albums once every few years". Yeah, but Black Pink are a k-pop group in the end. The girls debuted with the intention to make music, not take year long hiatuses every comeback. If another group from less popular company was in the same situation, they'd already be disbanded.
2ne1 is always soing hiphop concept but their songs is a bang and always different, but blackpink?? what happened?? is it because Yang Hyunsuk not their Main Producer anymore?? or because TOO MUCH WESTERN INFLUENCE?? when i read too many western name on their credit songs i lose hope 💀 and tehy concert is a mess
Western artists have like 13 to 17 songs in one album lmao. Them coming back after 3 years already gives them 30 to 40 songs. Something blackpink has done over 6 years. We're still lacking
BP have very similar songs and they ride on the whole “girl boss” “I’m on top” “I’m better” formula which doesn’t make sense. BP is a very mediocre group, and imo their company is only making money off the girls, that’s it. I watched a few concert clips and it isn’t what I would’ve expected after paying so much 💀😭
the songs didn't grow with me, as I am getting older, I want songs speaks for mental health or happiness, without bullying someone else's pocket like brands or something. honestly I really love Nxde by (G) Idle with good message on it.
Omg u are right. I listened to their songs but most of them about them being the top or the most baddass group or they are better than other group. I mean like, the hell are u guys talking about. They really look down to other groups though..
Agree i don't think there's a BP song with a meaning except for stay like they don't have songs like spring day / feel special /hellvator and alot more those songs are timeless + 0 songs for their fans + 0 content even 0 gratitude to their fans unlike other groups like BTS, Twice, SKZ, ITZY who literally don't miss a chance to thank their fans genuinely and interact with them .
That’s because they don’t write their music, they said it themselves when an interviewer asked them what the writing process was like. They said that they’re given the lyrics about 2 years ago but atst that might’ve changed now but the songs still are basically the same so I doubt they’re the ones writing their music
@@MostafaMahmoud-kh7hg Exactly, all their songs are just about how rich they are, and how they are the best and it's honestly funny. I don't understand why they are so famous when they release music like that. I personally love songs with deep meanings behind them, I mean its not the only thing I listen to, I like upbeat music, but I still prefer songs with a meaning behind them. That is one of the reason I Stan BTS; they have some of he most beautiful songs, and half their songs are beautiful and to their fans. BTS constantly interacts with their fans, and loves ARMYS more than anything, and they show it, like Jk having ARMY tattoos. Skz is the same, beautiful songs(some of them at least) and they love stays a lot. All my groups, I Stan over 20 groups groups, show how much they love us, and always interact with us, and have comebacks frequently. TWICE should be the biggest gg imo, not BP. Idk what happened with BP, they have potential, but they don't use it.
Yh that's why I'm glad she has her solo songs so I can still listen to gone , on the ground and hard to love I honestly hope if Blackpink do dispand in 2023 she goes on as a soloist
That was the exact same problem with me. But at some point I just unstanned them. But I still like Rosé tho. I think she'd be better of as a soloist rather than being a member of bp and not getting any attention at all. Like she could make so many beautiful songs if she went solo.
Same here she is also the one who is holding me back on stop standing the group Listing to jennie saying "than I wanted to become a singer, out of nowhere "😂 bruh, having money to afford an idols carrier iis fine and all. But without having any talents is just hilarious And even jisso her plans were of wanting to be an actress (wich suits her better in my opinion) but nah they made her join a kpop group ;like her being able to hit a few notes does mean nothing, if her passion for music is non existence 😢 And even ,Lisa good dancer and all.but like where is the voice, sorry but she sounds completely different on stage😂
The cost for a Born Pink concert ticket was over £400 or the equivalent of that, which is ridiculous. Concert tickets for many big western popstars is like £40-£60. I wanted to go to a Blackpink concert, simply to see them in real life, (I love them as people) and to watch their powerful performances (dancing, stage presence etc) and witness the amazing talent of Lisa. But with that price I couldn't just couldn't. At this point I'am certain that Blackpink is YG's cash cow.
The whole reason they’re not releasing more songs is to keep the views and streams of existing songs as high as possible. (I think Teddy said something akin to this in their docu) Which is a strategy that basically says ‘we’ll milk you guys until you are dry’ both to the girls and to the fans. YG did the same exact thing to 2NE1. They just had two albums their entire career. (Which is same with BP now) It is just so frustrating to see that their talent got wasted like that. Yeah they attained huge success but they could have done so much more. I wish they had chosen to be more hands on with their art and songs a long time ago.
as for blackjack like myself, 2ne1 songs still worth to play because their messages and controls for every songs. for example, if I felt down I can use I don't care or I am the Best. or if you just got a messy break up, Go Away and I don't care are a perfect match.
@@1991rendrawati I agree, 2NE1 had the og girl crush concept but they also explored different themes which is why their music is still relatable imo. Also their comebacks have always sounded different sonically which always felt fresh & new.
@@lu9175 yeah! even for just collecting their albums. their first album and second album is very different and that's totally good. like reggae version for Coming Home, who knows you can do that without ruin the reggae and the song? holy molly...
Well I hope Lisa’s ok after collapsing, but some of the effort they put in has been embarrassing. They look bored with their own music. A real mess for sure.
@@tonyghee0124 Exactly. And these idiots are judging the tour performances on the basis of some random clips🙄 people who r going are saying one thing repeatedly " We wanna go again!"
Another thing I don't really appreciate from BP members itself, and this has nothing to do with YG actually, it's their lack of commitment/passion to give their all out on the stage. They have presented some if not many of sloppy perfomances. Is that how they repay all the supports fans have given them? Jennie has been known as a lazy performer, she dances like she has no energy at times, and their choreos are not even that difficult, yet they cannot manage to slay many of their perfomances, and their synchronization sometimes falls apart. There are only 4 members, I am sure it is not that difficult to get everyone in sync, but they occasionally show like they don't care and not even trying to. I swear if Seventeen that has 13 members can keep their synchronization in place even with such difficult choreos, why can't they? If SVT ever gives out this type of lazy performaces on stage, I would never hesitate to criticize them, as a Carat. The Blink fandom is so toxic that they cannot even see there are something wrong and that many more groups out there that are way better than BP, the overhype surround BP is just way too much. Plus their musics ever since they finished their rookie era are not that great either. I am not saying the girls are not talented, but if there is one thing that they should do right is to at least trying to live up to their fame and be a great artist. I feel BP in their rookie days was much better that the current BP. It's sad that the girls do not seem to care how to improve themselves, musically and performance wise, it seemslike they have gotten lost, the passion isn't there anymore. Each come back has been nothing but worse each time. I don't care if blinks gonna attack me, but what I said is nothing but facts. I wish I could see BP improve in the future. As a 6 year old artist in kpop industry, it's time for them to get up and prove themselves. I ain't listen to BP songs anymore, Pink Venom really hurt my ears, I cannot stand listening to the song at one go, I had to keep pausing it. I give my criticism not because I hate them, but I really expect to see them improving themselves.
@@Ha-young_is_Just_Too_Fine I am not. While it is inexcusable for their poor performance, I am more concerned on the weight of these diets on their well-being. Jennie may have not been ready for such, which again is inexcusable
You brought up a lot of really good facts that I tend to agree with. I was actually surprised by some of what you said because I tend to see nothing but never ending praise for them. I personally don't understand how people say they are one of the greatest Kpop groups of all time with only 22 songs in 6 years, no matter how good. they are. Of course I see the amazing talent they have and I agree it's been wasted so far. Personally am not a fan of their songs but that has nothing to do with their talent, it has more to do with my personal taste in music.
I don't like their style, dance music isn't for me but I could get behind most tracks. But what really shocked me was that they didn't have a comeback as a whole group in like 2 years? And also I still can't believe their discography is so tiny. Sure, quality over quantity is a thing kpop could learn in general but we're talking about the biggest gg of this generation (if you look at numbers and popularity). Heck, a playlist for my ult group's b-sides would be longer than every single one of their songs combined. I'm just sorry for blinks bc I'd be bored asf.
@@moongirl8807 those numbers are crazily inflated by obsessively coordinated blinks. They put every other fandom to shame for the efforts they go through to give BP outrageous numbers.
@@BrentARJ the numbers is another thing...I mean I'd be proud too but if every argument fails they just end the discussion with "this song has a trillion streams and just won this random fan voted award so all your arguments are invalid"
For me, bp lost that uniqueness they had in the beginning, nowadays they're a watered down version of a western artist. Is honestly sad. They were so good, idk how to explain what made them so interesting in the beginning, but that sparkle is no longer here. Just like you said, I believe that they have NAME but nothing to back that up. BP have no competition and that made them comfortable to be mediocre. The last good thing they did was Coachella, and the only reason was good is bc the crowd was full of those white celebs and they didn't want to look like fools. Miss rookie days bp.
It always annoys me when people try to use “they promote like a western artists” because even ignoring the quality of their music they fundamentally don’t. Western artists don’t just put out mini’s/singles promote for like a month and then start on the next project. Albums have months of singles releases promoting the album, usually (though it’s becoming more rare) release a couple more singles after the album releases for radio play, and tour that shit for at least a year. It’s not just about quality but that they release so little when they come back. They can call it “The Album” all they want but for a Western release 8 songs that don’t even equal a 30 minute runtime would have just been called “The EP”. For some points of comparison if we consider The Way by Ariana Grande her debut by the 6th year in her career she’s starting promotions for Thank You, Next her 5th full album. If we consider Cannonball Little Mixes debut then they’re in the middle of touring Glory Days their 4th full album. Hell even someone who takes breaks like Adele would have admittedly only released her first two albums but you know how many songs are on those first two album? 23 not counting any bonus tracks. And no shade towards BlackPink but you can’t tell me there’s any reason BlackPink would take as big of breaks as Adele.
I'm sorry to say this but I truly want only the best for the members of BP which I think they are doing great as individials but do they deserve to be this famous? No, the answer will always be just no. There has been so many girl groups that have come and gone that were more dedicated to the fans, to their personas and to story/depth/choreo of their songs. And some are still making content today. Does BP out perform all of them? The answer is no. Hype and popularity rarely loses to quality and compasion. I belive we just got lucky with Twice having all 4.
Just because Blackpink may not have the catalog nor quality of TWICE doesn't mean they don't deserve their fame. These girls still worked hard to debut. Jennie had to wait 5 years and Lisa spent most of her training days in the basement. Hate on BP all you want but saying that the girls don't deserve their fame is a bit of a reach. I love both Blackpink and TWICE and both groups deserve their recognition. BP was my favorite group till I started listening to TWICE but I will always have a soft spot for them.
blackpink is the best example of what money and the media bought with it can do, which has been telling everyone for years that apart from bp there are no other kpop groups worth paying attention to. This is especially true of Twice, about which the media in the United States have been silent for years, and when they mention something, it is only in the negative. Also famous are specific 'farms' whose task was to increase views on youtube.
I watched them debut after 2ne1 disbanded. I watched their teaser dance videos and thought wow this group has potential. Boombaya was a great debut and I loved Whistle. But after awhile I started forgetting them. I would be surprised a new song dropped because I forgot about the group. So sad and so much wasted potential. I agree with everything.
They were both meant to be 2NE1's songs for their unreleased comeback album. As If It's Your Last was a 2NE1 song that got scrapped because 2NE1 already had enough good songs for their Crush album.
@@djvillan that’s really interesting to know. I was never a blackjack. I was actually a 4nia. So I never kept up with all their background stuff. But it is cool to learn something new. I’m now curious how the songs would have sounded if 2ne1 actually used them.
Whistle, Playing with Fire and AIIYL were my faves. I feel it all went downhill from here. The fandom also were problematic, giving me grief as a multistan, so I left.
I don't think they sit down and do nothing, they're clearly models at this point. Marketing machines... As a matter of fact i think music is there to support their modelling careers. As for them losing their passion, of course! Why would they want to go on a months long extremely tiring tour, when instead, they can go sit on chairs, get their make up done, pose for pictures or be flown to events to "represent" a fashion brand, with free luxury clothes and be paid as much as touring LOL
You have a very respectable take on this tragedy called Blackpink. Like you, I was introduced to Kpop stanning through them, and could not have imagined not caring about them anymore. Not the girls' fault, but the management's. What even more weird, I am loving SNSD's pending comeback more than I ever would with BP. Kind of sad.
Blackpink really lost their fire for me and it really shows in their born pink concerts, everything is messy, their lip syncing or not even trying to lip sync or dancing in sync, it’s not the type of performance you would pay to see, and you’d think they’d comeback even harder after two years out but that’s really not the case
Im also losing the feelings i got when i heard blackpink. I thought they were so cool, i always felt happy about them. All of their songs were on my playlists, but nowadays their content (concerts) is just twerking here and there. I havent gotten the opportunity to meet them, but judging from the clips that have gone viral, i feel like im OK not going anyway. And also their inactiveness is too much. Ik they are busy now, but what about the past years? Their weverse is dead, their music is mid. I never thought blackpink was overhyped, but it definitely feels like it now.
Ikr . Im literally tired of blinks saying they're the best i mean their performance is so boring like nothing special. Have you seen lisa money Coachella like what im not paying my money just to see them twerking and then people calling them best dancers for making thos sexual moves
Blackpink = OVERRATED. They have maybe 3-4 songs that I could actually listen to repeatedly, otherwise I'm usually skipping their songs when it comes up on the playlist. The songs are boring, they have ZERO performance/dance to go along with their songs giving me less and less reasons to actually try to listen to their songs again....I am genuinely confused how they are more popular than Twice and Mamamoo
Lets be honest, Blackpink's "talent" is truly their aesthetic. Without being too disrespectful to other K-Pop girl groups, what makes Blackpink stand out is that all 4 members are considered beautiful both objectively and subjectively. Theres a reason why all 4 members are endorsed by some of the biggest fashion brands in the world. Jennie and Jisoo in particular are highly praised in the fashion industry. Lisa is the most followed individual KPop artist on Instagram. They've already transcended the music scene to the point that they can probably retire from it altogether very comfortably.
LIIISTEEENNN!!! upto this far I’m giving Blackpink the benefit of the doubt when it comes to them not having creative control over their music and YG never actually giving them comebacks and them not having any say in any of their artist management at all. BUUUUTTT as soon as that contract is over in August and they decide to sign with YG it means one thing and one thing only That they have no problem with the way YG is managing them.
The fandom is absolutely toxic, they show terrible performance & stage presence. And everytime me and a fandom celebrate an AMAZING achievement they have to bring blackpink into the convo. And if I’m being honest it’s the fans that made me leave and the lack of performance 😭
This next comeback needs to be the best thing anyone has ever seen or I’m just not sure what’s going to happen with them. Even a lot of their really dedicated fans are getting tired of waiting years to get one or two songs. I’m a little bit attached to them because they’re the first group I heard, but that’s really the only thing keeping me from completely forgetting about them half the time. I really hope they can come back with something great, but I’m afraid they won’t And oh my gosh thank you, Ice Cream is so bad. I’m half convinced an anti snuck into the studio to make that as a form of sabotage
Yea they were the first group I saw. When I saw them on my fyp when I was 12-13. I'm now almost 16. This is my last straw and I'm really done with bp. But yea I really doubt they gonna come back with something not repulsive.
I 100% agree. I'm such a huge stan, but I'm not delusional nor stupid to no see the lack of passion and effort our girls have put into their careers this last few years. I's sad but many new groups in the new generation have more albums and songs that the whole discography of Blackpink combined.
They are not cut out for music anymore. They can do so much better outside of blackpink. Models, actress, starting a business anything. They just dont try anymore. Its time to give a new group a chance because im sorry they dont deserve it anymore but no they dont put in the effort because they dont need to and make alot of money so they cant just quit. I do hope they disband. Not for hate but so they can move on And to me most their music sounds the same so I never bothered And the fandom is a nightmare
I’m sick of blinks. They always think the world revolves around Blackpink and they fuss when someone even talks about Blackpink badly. I’m sorry but Blackpink is overrated
I'm a loyal blink since 2016, but you're right. blackpink is getting too comfortable being too revealing and not really giving their best in performance lately. Sadly, I miss their old selves. Their energy and passion has clearly lost in their eyes. Especially, jennie. All of them probably thinks they aren't gonna be forever, so I guess they give the new K-pop groups to shine rn.
@@Sereneheart12 Yeah! Like sometimes it feels like they are using the fact that they have so many fans as an advantage to not use much energy just because they know all there fans are gonna stand up for them
Your point about toxic blinks is true, I was watching 2nd generation mv and there was a n unnecessary comparison between them in the comments.Blinks really need to stop bringing BP everywhere.
Imo fandom really does play a rule in supporting a group. I used to be a huge blink but the toxicity started to come at me since I was just 14 and still growing mentally. Time by time I was becoming toxic myself it made me negative as a person and as soon as I realized what kind of person I was becoming I had to stop myself. Alot of people say you are there for the music and members not the fandom but a good fandom really is a treasure and if you are surrounded with negative energy you slowly start to embrace it as well especially when you are still in your teens.
When I first started stanning bp, I honestly loved so much about them: 1) their visuals 2) their history (the amount of training they’ve done) 3) the long way they came (from starting off like ordinary people just like us) 4) the “international-ness” (how rosé and jennie grew up in other countries and Lisa being thai) 5) their documentary 6) their debut song SLAPPED Buuut… after seeing the slow deterioration of effort and stage presence really worries me. If i’m being completely honest, I’m genuinely disappointed by their comeback because although I don’t necessarily think they’re bad, I think the live dancing and performances were just… lazy and so messy. I know some salty blinks will be like “oh why don’t you try then?”.. I mean I haven’t spent my whole childhood training vocals and dancing skills so ofc I wouldn’t be able to but wouldn’t they have to? It’s their literal job yet slowly, they’re losing that spark they had when they were rookies. Moreover, I actually really enjoyed a lot of their old songs where they were just purely *good* instead of trying so hard to expand or appear to the public.
I don’t think Lisa or Jennie was that ordinary before becoming a trainee. Most of the members were likely already well off enough to be sent abroad to train
All you said is totally true , it's really annoying to see those blinks who attack every single group and say bp is the biggest gg , BP are just to lazy to make songs or whatever kind of those . Imagine 6 years with only 2 albums.!? The new groups have more than that. Most of blink care for views and they think views make someone the most successful group.they r too loyal to a group of 4 girl that aren't even a group just 4 soloist or Instagram models .they need to understand but they just ignore facts that bp using their fans for money . They careless about their fans .sometimes they even forget to thank them .and what upsets me that there are many gg working hard and deserve more than the fame they have such as twice / aespa / itzy etc...bp are so overrated .
So you want media to give groups that have 27m stream in a week biggest girlgroup ahead of the one that have 170m streams. Tell me any girlgroup that can pull blackpink number, you people should be grateful these girls don't drop regularly. If they do so they would have done what bts did to boygroup to the rest of the girlgroup.
What I’ve noticed over the 16 years of being a K-pop fan is when the people who put the groups together look for certain qualities. YG knew Rose, Jennie and Jisoo are good dancers but not powerful. And Lisa is a powerful dancer. Is she the best no. But she will always be considered the best when she’s next to the other three members. If she was in dance based group she would blend in really well. But because the other 3 don’t dance like her she stands out
Huh really they don't have much of model features I am sorry but definitely not runway for commercials u guess depends on the company but still they look pretty average
@@ilsagita5257I wasn't referring to that.I was referring to the fact they have more model/brand promotions than the total amount songs in their discography
Chungha’s querencia (good ass album btw) has 21 songs! 21 SONGS in one album that’s bps discography but anyways Im still going to the concert. Take my money
I saw BP and it was so hyped up so I decided to stan them but the fans are crazy they think that BP will be the only good girl group ever when there's tons of amazing girl groups that aren't really noticed or don't have much streams or listeners. Really the comebacks suck now the lack of engry on stage is just boring to see I wanted to buy a ticket. I don"t regret not buying one now. Also their dances they look horrible and they are usually just praised for their views and looks and their collabs with "fancy brands". It just is annoying that people like an idol who doesn't really care about their singing and dancing when they know that their looks will get them the money they want. PS its just sad that some Kpop girl groups have a huge dream of becoming a great girl group and having great singing but they are usually ignored.
It’s never been about the music, or the talent. It’s about the image. They’re a product and their fans eat it up. They want to be the popular rich beautiful mean girls. It’s why their only ability to criticize the “haters” is to say we’re jealous.
Its so bittersweet that BP is an introduction group to kpop for people. I'm happy that people can further check out other groups but its like Not "putting your best foot forward" as the saying goes.
This is partially why I'm not a Blink anymore. I just don't they worked enough to have the fame that they do. I'd rather see that go groups like Twice or Gidle. Groups who work nonstop and improve.
What’s funny is this worked for 2ne1 before, but those girls ways gave 100% when they come back. BP cannot say fuck quantity, we got quality! Bro, they got no right.
BP got those big name collabs on mediaplayed reputation alone and I stand by it. If it was that they're so talented and successful, then these collabs wouldn't have done so poorly, ESPECIALLY since they had such big names to back them up. Instead, these collabs fall as a somewhat of a black stain on the career of the artists they collabbed with. When you think great Lady Gaga/Cardi B/Selena collabs, BP ain't the name that pops up. I get what you tried to do with the comparison with BTS+Halsey, but it kinda landed flatly as BTS and BP's situation is completely different under every aspect, including how they get collabs and how they choose them. For starters, BTS never went about their collabs chasing clout, but wanted to collab with artists they genuinely admired or who they were really interested in at the time - and an actual friendship was born from that collaboration with Halsey, which was an actual collaboration to begin with, as in they met with her, actively worked together, and perofrmed with her and together they broke records too, as a nice bonus. BP never had that with any artist. Hell, they kinda never had that among the 4 of them, too.
It took me a while to warm up to Blackpink, not through any fault of theirs but mostly because of how YG pushed aside 2NE1 to make room for them. I like them, but it's sad to see them dungeoned by YG for no particular reason. It's like they're getting the same treatment as 2NE1 without even another group coming in to replace them. Seems like YG is the common factor here. In the meantime, while you were watching this video Twice probably released another mini album 🤣
I relate to warming up to them for that same reason. I really wanted to like them but it was hard cause i was still sad about 2ne1 and now im trying to like them but their music is so damn boring.
Typa girl, shut down, hard to love? You mean the songs where they again milk the “im rich youre not, im pretty youre not, im hot as fuck everyone knows me” scenario? Wait, thats already 80% of their discography
@@Raybeamgobrrr lmao you felt attacked cuz of those songs? Well it might be cuz ur a hater and those lyrics are pointed at those who criticize them lol But these songs are peak, unless u lack confidence and feel attacked lol
They really don’t live up to the title of the “best gg” that they claim they are. I’m surprised their fans defend that title when it’s very unfitting in terms of their skills and overall artist experience
honestly they are more of models than musicians .....i wondered how long it would take people to see that....lovesick girls was one of the song you could say that is an example of good music apart from the badbitch vibe....comebacks after two years is a marketing strategy to make fans thirst for their music and have the sales blow up ....lets not mention that the bp concert we attended didnt match our moneys value like why would they perform like they never practiced.....why? some of us flew accross the world for it....sad
The thing is that this wasn’t an accident or a mistake. YG knows exactly what they’re doing and they have known since the beginning of Blackpink’s career. All they have to support them is hype and fan wars, no actual passion, very little actual talent.
What I don't understand is that blinks say that supposedly yg isn't letting BP make decisions in the studio or anywhere else in their career, but that same company seems to be aok letting them twerk/be risqué with little clothes on. I just don't understand why yg would restrict them from doing what they were literally signed to do but then let them do whatever anywhere else. And when something positive happens, they want BP to take all the credit, and suddenly, big bad yge is nowhere to be found🥲
Now they are global ambassador and model than a k-pop idols. I was a huge ass blink I was so obsessed with them but now even if I want to stand them I can't. I had lots of hope in their comeback but that didn't work instead it even make things worse.
I don't think they would be massively popular in America if it ain't for yg yg's marketing has got bp 80 or even % of their succes i personally dont like yg as a company but their marketing made bp at top bp wouldn't even be half as popular now if it was not the marketing
Hate me if you want, BP would not have been more famous than they are now under another company. What pulled in people? - Expectations as 2NE1’s hoobaes + predebut promo - YG throwing *so* much production value at their debut videos and even now (video, clothes, stages) - Artificial supply and demand + not like other girls- I mean idols Many groups are all pretty and talented, the same group without YG money/influence and Teddy’s hype bait music would probably be in one of those “underrated groups” videos.
I don't know why I didn't love them from the start maybe my gut feeling even their performance I didn't like them I used to think I am jealous but my gut feeling is right.
Bp was made popular by YG and 2NE1. Yes they did work very hard and trained but let's not just brush over the fact that most of their early fame was from the hype that a new 2NE1 like group was gonna debut. In my opinion, bp's music is getting stale with the same concept every time. From their debut until now, only 3 - 4 songs have differentiate from that path. The girls have basically no excuse for the mistake they had at the start of the tour. They had 2 whole years to train and practice choreo and still made mistakes. It would've been different if it was at the end where they were tired but no. The girls should be putting their idol careers on top and actually perform and sing instead of twerking. They can enjoy themselves and twerk but when the performances are so lazily I'd just go on the internet if I wanted to see women twerk.
"blackpink should disband for their artist not bc we hate them" EXACTLY i'm slowly stopping stanning them, i AM going to the concert though and can't wait, but i think after that it's over for me. everyone is hating on their performance and that they looked so bored but i think they looked more tired, like they want it to be over, jennie talked numerous times (i think i'm not sure anymore) about how she wanted to be normal again and doesn't want to be an idol anymore which is understandable ofc looking at her situation. i want them to enjoy their life tot he fullest, be happy, but their career is an huge obstivle to their deserved peaceful live. also the fandom is so toxic for no reason, and most fans are young blinks because the group is so popular. these young kids stan them because everyone does. i think the girls will be much happier as a normal person rather then an idol, and they're not the only ones. I hope that in the future more people will understand that keeping the girls isn't going to fix their reputations or make them happier. (sorry for the errors it was a bunch of text oke😭 i will prob fix them later on) please support our girls till the end
BlackPink discography before Ddu Du Ddu Du is really good in my opinion That is when the group Discography is truly Quality over Quantity Boombayah has got to be one of the best debut in girl group history Whistle is really elegant, chic with an anti drop chorus way ahead of its time Playing with Fire is such and ear worm and together with Stay they create a deep meaning story that are horrifyingly rare in BlackPink discography And As If It’s Your Last should be nominated for the best song of 2017, sorry not sorry But Ddu Du Ddu Du blew up so Teddy thought that he could just recycled the song over and over again, and this world is so stupid that what he thought was right
Twice outperforms them in every single aspect, I cannot understand how they got so popular and passed twice. Twice girls can sing, they’re awesome dancers and they have amazing stage presence
You are right I am not a kpop fan I watch their Coachella 2023 and dude their fandom call this a best Coachella performance ever like wtf they are not singing at all and they call this a stage presence and they praised lisa for her performance where she is just cursing and twerking and not even singing I can say other groups are much better than bp . And if we say something about bp their fandom will just give you hate like you are jealous of our Queens (I would be jealous if they have something to be jealous about) and will give you excuses for their bad performance and blame yg for everything they don't know bp is because of yg ,bp is just overhyped.
There are just so many more amazing groups that deserve the spotlight that BP clearly dont want. Dreamcatchers discography is MASSIVE and all bangers yet they are not as popular as a group that can barely fill a full album and have the easiest choreos in the scene. BP got me into kpop but I just cant waster time or energy on that shit anymore.
They barely make music, albums, literally everything... I barely even heard of their last tour, that's why I don't get their success, all the other successful groups work so hard, they are always everywhere, always giving their 1000% on stage, and I never see that with Blackpink, always so lazy, doing any other projects or promoting brands, anything else besides investing on the group, Blinks love to hate on Twice's success for example(I'm just comparing them because they on the other side do deserve their title), but they just released today their 13th mini album, are still on their world tour and even came to my country 🇧🇷 for the 1st time the beginning of this month, are always doing something, they never stop, but I could say that also about Aespa, G-Idle, Le Sserafim... but I don't even remember the last song that BP released or the last time that they released a song that didn't sound like all the other ones or that they didn't "need it" to collaborate with someone to make it bigger, like Dua Lipa, Selena Gomez...and the worst part, it's that they are considered unreachable/untouchable for literally doing nothing and just giving the message to those young fans of looking down on other groups and singing exactly what their toxic fandom say...
My unpopular opinion: BlackPinky's resounding success is due to YG's management! The elephant in the room that no one wants to admit exists is: Blinks are superficial! That's why BP is superficial! What attracted and still attracts fans to the group is the image of a strong , badass and model-beautiful girl on the outside but sweet, fragile and cute on the inside. In short "pick me up" girl! All of the group's songs are catch songs with no really interesting lyrics other than the good old: "I'm beautiful, I'm brave in chasing the boy I want, and I'm better than the others!" And I say good old style because that's what ALL the top female singers are talking about in their songs these days: from Dua Lipa to Nick Minaj, Passing by Ariana, CardiB and Stelion! That's not bad, they are successful because they always have been: sex sells!! It's not exclusive to a genre, but it tasted like something new in kpop because the last time it was successful was with CL and Hyuna. The image was recycled from the successful 2NE1, but without the more intimate and meaningful songs (I will never forget the YG statement: "BP is a prettier 2NE1!"/ But he forgot to say they wouldn't have the same interesting songs ). What hurts Blinks is that formula tires easily and the group doesn't do anything new or slightly different very often. What prevents them from effectively being the biggest girl group in kpop and world (they are the ONLY girl group to be successful in the west for now) just as One Direction was the most popular group in his time.Because yes, I am comparing them to them because they are of the same formula: groups made in reality shows, with an absurd debut, generic songs, a visual that attracts more than the meaning of the lyrics and the girl/boy crush concept! BP should do more shows and albums a year. The lyrics of the songs really aren't important for this kind of concept. Just the sound!
Great comments. I saw Blackpink In SK in 2017 at a free university concert. They only had 4 songs at the time (Boombayah, Whistle, Playing with Fire, and Stay). Everyone knew the words to the songs and sang along. I have also been distressed by how few songs they have produced since then. (I hated "Ice Cream" too!) But this seems to have been a deliberate marketing strategy by YG, to create demand through absence and scarcity of content. (The exact of opposite of Twice for instance) And while I agree with virtually all of your points from a fan's point of view, YG's strategy seems to have worked. Blackpink, not Twice, not Red Velvet is the most popular global Kpop girl group, the one whose comeback is featured in Rolling Stone. They have also been showing up on American late night TV since 2019. They are part of American popular music culture in a way that no other Kpop group besides BTS is. The big difference is that BTS did realize their potential, but we may never know Blackpink could have been.
True, but honestly I believe every other group that is up there is happier. Twice and BTS are still crazy successful, but they also get to be creative, feed their fandom and just be artists (I guess you said something similar I just wanted to add to it). Every time I see BP it's bc there's a new campaign or smth. They're just models at this point, the most influencal you can get in this world but that's it. I remember scrolling through their IGs a few months ago and all they posted were these "congrats, ice cream hit 20 trillion thousand views" things and then an ad for, I kid you not, credit cards with their faces on it. Did they look super cool? Yes. But is a kpop girl group on a credit card the most capitalist thing you can do? Also yes. I know other groups like BTS have an insane amount of merch too but at least it's not the only thing they do. Oh and the comeback? Let's also use that opportunity for a gigantic PUBG ad. Good for them I guess but at least split it off a bit so blinks have something to do in-between comebacks...
Tbf I feel like of these three groups they have the most western appealing sound/image/promotion. Concept wise they’re not that far removed from western groups with a badass/girl power concept hell Spice Girls was doing that shit back in the 90’s. The most unique thing about them is the integration of rap. While I can’t account for how they’re still so popular in the era of #sadpop music they’re EDM music is still pretty popular and was doing really good in 2016/2017. Twice’s bubblegum pop hasn’t been popular in years (which is why “The Feels” success is pretty incredible to me) and they’re cute/youth image wouldn’t get them far outside the Disney Channel. As for promotions it seems like JYP only recently has started really pushing Twice for a western audience. Finally Red Velvet probably could’ve really cultivated a western audience if they kept making Bad Boy over and over again but any hope of that was lost as soon as Power Up happened. Their Red concepts just aren’t the kind of things that appeal to Western audiences (though like with The Feels Id love to be surprised) and that’s always going to be a barrier when trying to push for a mainstream western audience. Considering how Western hungry SM has I’m actually kind of surprised they seem decently content with where Red Velvet is now.
I'm actually really glad that groups like Red Velvet don't have the popularity of BP. It's caused them and YG to be lazy, and their fandom is mostly made up of extremely immature TikTok children. At least groups like RV, GIDLE, aespa, Mamamoo etc aren't afraid to try new concepts and produce consistently amazing and unique music every comeback. And everyone knows that they're talented and are amazing singers/performers and they dont need thousands of teenagers rushing to the comments to defend their mediocre performances.
"Oh, the long hiatus is just emulating the Western style of making comebacks" My brother in Christ, Bruno Mars cooks banger after banger in between YEARS of his discography, can't say the same for BLACKPINK tho 💀💀 and his tours are far better tbh
One other reason i stopped being a blink is because i noticed how absolutely ungrateful they are to their fans. Seems like since they were famous from the start they are taking their fans for granted. They rarely thank the blinks for anything. Rarely do a vlive and even that is not a free one. In the few times they appear on a vlive they seem bored and barely says anything interesting or funny. All in all specially Rosé and Jennie come off as stuck up and entitled. Don't get me wrong Rosé used to be my bias for a while. I tried so hard to keep loving them but after their Pink Venom performance on MTV I was officially done with them. They seem to have no love for the fans that give so much to them and zero passion for their art. And honestly I can't believe they have no creative control over their music. Being the biggest girl group they must hold some kind of persuasive power in the company right? They're grown ass women. If they put some effort into learning to write songs, compose and produce YG would not have denied them the chance to make music. If they insisted YG would've allowed them to have better choreography. It's not the company. It's just them not wanting to make an effort. Other than Lisa, non of them are cut out to be artists.
ive been into kpop since april of 2023 and i can say that blackpink is what kept me AWAY from kpop for 4 years... i never understood why they were so hyped up because their music was always so terrible to me, and i got the impression that since they were the biggest girl group, most kpop songs would sound the same so i never bothered to actually try listening to other groups in the genre now that i'm a kpop stan i can fullheartedley say that they don't deserve the title of the biggest girl group, and i'll never understand why they are so hyped up. their music all sounds the same to me on the topic of the members, jennie is SO lazy onstage because she knows blinks will eat it up just because its her, and she uses having motion sickness or being sick as an excuse for her poor dancing... has she been sick every day for the past 6 years or something? you would've thought that after a couple of performances she would've improved and woke tf up but nope, she didnt it's just a massive slap in the face to those who have failed to become idols or those who work way harder than her to see her bare minimum dancing blowing up each time newjeans literally dances better than her and they're rookies, while bp has been in the industry for 6? 7? years? i would've literally sold my soul for other groups to have the fame that bp does, if they weren't from a big company they would've been forgotten ages ago and that's a fact many groups have had severe injuries and mishaps on stage (eg that one gfriend stage where the stage was slippery, yet they kept getting back up and singing) and STILL performed better than jennie she has no excuse
your opion but dont hate on jennie she gets more sick as well so like yh plus their music is like more tomboy then girly girl like the others that is why yg thought they wouldntt be a hit but here their are and i can basically say the same about army and maybe bts
I agree with this video, attended the houston concert last week and tbh I’m no more a blink after that. The girls were boring to watch and too much aegyo seemed cringe. Pink venom song sucked big time and their lyrics doesn’t make sense anymore. I’m really disappointed with their latest comeback. After two years they give us nothing, I really miss old blackpink.
Yess I agree
Yeah same reason
I agree, they are overrated
@@onlyjisoo6371 A what? They have been trainees for a long time, every idol deserves popularity
Toxic fandom? God, you listen to music, what does fandom have to do with it?
as a dancer, i definitely agree their earlier choreos are way more challenging and interesting. now a big part of their choreos is just them walking around except for the choruses. really doesn't showcase the girls' skills.
It's sad but true😭
Personally, I think Blackpink members are a good example of "quiet quitting."
@@vronji You'd wish these smaller companies had as much marketing influence as YG
I sweaaar. They are so overhyped. I don’t get it.
It's very much about looks for them no doubt, but you wouldn't convince any of their fans that 😂 they actually think bps music is "killing the game"
Who is going to pay for an 'annyeong paris blinks' on weverse after their super expensive tour shows
Now they are MBEs, because of all the girl crush hype and 'trending' he blacklabel/blackpink image/LISA on tiktok/JENNIE's tv debut on an r-rated show.

I really don't understand why people love BP so much. Their fandom is just plainly TOXIC💀
I saw a video of a creator long ago that explained it really well. It was called “Self-Insert” or something where she broke down the psychology of BP fans and why the group was so popular without really trying.

Ready for love is totally something that belonged in 2017 like it was discount version of forever young
I think it lacked something or they should've gone full ballad / emotional since it's not the comeback. Because I really liked everything besides the chorus.
Which (forever young) was recorded in 2015 🙂
Like imagine Beyonce coming out with 2013 EDM, her career would flop 😂
The fact that Blackpink makes music 10 years behind and people ignore it and call it amazing is shocking.
I actually really dislike ready for love. It's their worst song ever imo 💀. I like the rest of them tho so it's all good, I just really don't like ready for love lol
Exactly!
Mamamoo deserves more attention, to be honest. Self-made Queens.
Fr It's a real sad state of affairs in the music world when privileged models are overhyped more than real talented artists.
Agree 100%. I went to their concert and I was mesmerized on how amazing and great they are! They sing/rap live from start to finish and you'd never see them give any half assed performances! ❤
No K-Pop group is "self-made", but I agree they deserve more attention.
Gidle and Soyeon Queen, they are self made queens too. Also Dreamcatcher.
@@carolinaseo8263 self made enough for a kpop group atleast lol
The two big reasons why I stopped standing Blackpink are:
- The toxicity of the fandom.
Yeah fr and all people think the kpop and esp gg is all about bp which is not true and not worth it
Yes I agree with this!!!! Most of the toxic fans are kids they literally attacking every girl group without even knowing what is kpop. These fans didn't want any of idols singing and dancing...!!
No.1 I agree
Same reasons here , but I just became solo stan jisoo
That's the reason why I had to leave this Fandom first of all the toxicity of this Fandom and second that I don't really feel these girls like making music .
When I compare their music with Mamamoo, RedVelvet, Twice, Gidle, ect. I get confused on how they got big in the first place.
A lot of their music is just bad EDM? Idk, it was impossible for me to get into them
It's all because of the marketing. Their music crap lol.
Marketing matters...........music doesn't.
@@nishasagar2329 couldn’t have said it better myself
I believe blackpink songs are more catchy than others but sure it's your opinion
Timing and Luck, Great Marketing, and They know how to cater to western market
I can already sniff the blinks defending bp
But even that logic doesn’t work. Yes western artists release music every couple years but those are albums, not one or two songs.
L
Mm
2ne1 is always soing hiphop concept but their songs is a bang and always different, but blackpink?? what happened?? is it because Yang Hyunsuk not their Main Producer anymore?? or because TOO MUCH WESTERN INFLUENCE??
when i read too many western name on their credit songs i lose hope 💀

girl ok💀
Agree i don't think there's a BP song with a meaning except for stay like they don't have songs like spring day / feel special /hellvator and alot more those songs are timeless
+ 0 songs for their fans + 0 content even 0 gratitude to their fans unlike other groups like BTS, Twice, SKZ, ITZY who literally don't miss a chance to thank their fans genuinely and interact with them .
Same here she is also the one who is holding me back on stop standing the group

The cost for a Born Pink concert ticket was over £400 or the equivalent of that, which is ridiculous. Concert tickets for many big western popstars is like £40-£60. @@xxxiamjsservn where? Name them
@@1991rendrawati why are you bringing inflation and unemployment here?
The whole reason they’re not releasing more songs is to keep the views and streams of existing songs as high as possible. (I think Teddy said something akin to this in their docu) Which is a strategy that basically says ‘we’ll milk you guys until you are dry’ both to the girls and to the fans. YG did the same exact thing to 2NE1. They just had two albums their entire career. (Which is same with BP now) It is just so frustrating to see that their talent got wasted like that. Yeah they attained huge success but they could have done so much more. I wish they had chosen to be more hands on with their art and songs a long time ago.

I give my criticism not because I hate them, but I really expect to see them improving themselves.
true facts seems like the girls lost passion and blinks tolerate almost everything and cannot accept criticism

I used to be a blink but I’m an ex blink now because of toxic blinks
I'm sorry to say this but I truly want only the best for the members of BP which I think they are doing great as individials but do they deserve to be this famous? No, the answer will always be just no. There has been so many girl groups that have come and gone that were more dedicated to the fans, to their personas and to story/depth/choreo of their songs. And some are still making content today. Does BP out perform all of them? The answer is no. Hype and popularity rarely loses to quality and compasion. blackpink is the best example of what money and the media bought with it can do, which has been telling everyone for years that apart from bp there are no other kpop groups worth paying attention to.
This is especially true of Twice, about which the media in the United States have been silent for years, and when they mention something, it is only in the negative.

Because there songs are more catchy compared to others

"artists" is not a word that should be associated with BlackPink. They are not creators.
lol your faves are flopping
Lets be honest, Blackpink's "talent" is truly their aesthetic. Without being too disrespectful to other K-Pop girl groups, what makes Blackpink stand out is that all 4 members are considered beautiful both objectively and subjectively. Theres a reason why all 4 members are endorsed by some of the biggest fashion brands in the world. Jennie and Jisoo in particular are highly praised in the fashion industry. Lisa is the most followed individual KPop artist on Instagram. They've already transcended the music scene to the point that they can probably retire from it altogether very comfortably.
actually True.
The definition of style over substance. Of course in the fashion industry, this is a not a problem.
You explained this perfectly.
Yes exactly!
LIIISTEEENNN!!! upto this far I’m giving Blackpink the benefit of the doubt when it comes to them not having creative control over their music and YG never actually giving them comebacks and them not having any say in any of their artist management at all.
BUUUUTTT as soon as that contract is over in August and they decide to sign with YG it means one thing and one thing only
That they have no problem with the way YG is managing them.
Frankly, I'd act the same if my boss still paid me top dollar for minimum work effort. Easy money.
The fandom is absolutely toxic, they show terrible performance & stage presence. And everytime me and a fandom celebrate an AMAZING achievement they have to bring blackpink into the convo. And if I’m being honest it’s the fans that made me leave and the lack of performance 😭
musically speaking, i don't even know what so hyped about them tho 🤣

This next comeback needs to be the best thing anyone has ever seen or I’m just not sure what’s going to happen with them. Even a lot of their really dedicated fans are getting tired of waiting years to get one or two songs. I’m a little bit attached to them because they’re the first group I heard, but that’s really the only thing keeping me from completely forgetting about them half the time. I really hope they can come back with something great, but I’m afraid they won’t
And oh my gosh thank you, Ice Cream is so bad.
Nah, don't blame it in any anti. They ran out of ideas thats about it.

@binks69 Same here
I feel like they are overrated and if they were in another label they will be below average
They are not cut out for music anymore. They can do so much better outside of blackpink. Models, actress, starting a business anything. They just dont try anymore. Its time to give a new group a chance because im sorry they dont deserve it anymore
but no they dont put in the effort because they dont need to and make alot of money so they cant just quit. I do hope they disband. Not for hate but so they can move on
And to me most their music sounds the same so I never bothered
And the fandom is a nightmare
They seem not genuine if I am honest
Agree. I used to watch some videos and they don’t even look like friends. Must be tough working like this.
I left the fandom a long time ago after receiving hate for admitting I liked another gg's songs
Good for you listen to the artists but don’t involve yourself with the fandoms they are toxic af
When I first started stanning bp, I honestly loved so much about them:
1) their visuals
2) their history (the amount of training they’ve done)
3) the long way they came (from starting off like ordinary people just like us)
4) the “international-ness” (how rosé and jennie grew up in other countries and Lisa being thai)
5) their documentary
6) their debut song SLAPPED
Buuut… after seeing the slow deterioration of effort and stage presence really worries me.

Yes! But also, there are entire catalogs of better rappers singers and dancers than these girls, love them tho

I was a huge fan but they have dissapointed me, they never put effort its always bare minimum. I discovered BTS and find them so much more exciting.
This video. Is exactly what ive been wanting to say but could never express.
Ill show this when someone asks me why I dislike them
It’s never been about the music, or the talent. It’s about the image. They’re a product and their fans eat it up. They want to be the popular rich beautiful mean girls. It’s why their only ability to criticize the “haters” is to say we’re jealous.
the fact that they also recycled their lyrics
Its so bittersweet that BP is an introduction group to kpop for people. I'm happy that people can further check out other groups but its like Not "putting your best foot forward" as the saying goes.
This is partially why I'm not a Blink anymore. I just don't they worked enough to have the fame that they do. I'd rather see that go groups like Twice or Gidle. Groups who work nonstop and improve.
What’s funny is this worked for 2ne1 before, but those girls ways gave 100% when they come back.
BP cannot say fuck quantity, we got quality! Bro, they got no right.
I miss my old kpop groups..2ne1 sistar19.
True. Always thought they lacked friendship.

While I like a couple of BP songs I mostly just have to thank them for helping me find Mamamoo
- Expectations as 2NE1’s hoobaes + predebut promo
- YG throwing *so* much production value at their debut videos and even now (video, clothes, stages)
- Artificial supply and demand + not like other girls- I mean idols
Many groups are all pretty and talented, the same group without YG money/influence and Teddy’s hype bait music would probably be in one of those “underrated groups” videos.
I don't know why I didn't love them from the start maybe my gut feeling even their performance I didn't like them I used to think I am jealous but my gut feeling is right.
I can like every girl group out there but not BP. And the new generation is way better already. 😅
"blackpink should disband for their artist not bc we hate them"
EXACTLY
i'm slowly stopping stanning them, i AM going to the concert though and can't wait, but i think after that it's over for me. everyone is hating on their performance and that they looked so bored but i think they looked more tired, like they want it to be over, jennie talked numerous times (i think i'm not sure anymore) about how she wanted to be normal again and doesn't want to be an idol anymore which is understandable ofc looking at her situation. i want them to enjoy their life tot he fullest, be happy, but their career is an huge obstivle to their deserved peaceful live. also the fandom is so toxic for no reason, and most fans are young blinks because the group is so popular. these young kids stan them because everyone does.
i think the girls will be much happier as a normal person rather then an idol, and they're not the only ones. I hope that in the future more people will understand that keeping the girls isn't going to fix their reputations or make them happier.

BlackPink discography before Ddu Du Ddu Du is really good in my opinion
That is when the group Discography is truly Quality over Quantity
Boombayah has got to be one of the best debut in girl group history
Whistle is really elegant, chic with an anti drop chorus way ahead of its time
Playing with Fire is such and ear worm and together with Stay they create a deep meaning story that are horrifyingly rare in BlackPink discography
And As If It’s Your Last should be nominated for the best song of 2017, sorry not sorry
But Ddu Du Ddu Du blew up so Teddy thought that he could just recycled the song over and over again, and this world is so stupid that what he thought was right
Twice outperforms them in every single aspect, I cannot understand how they got so popular and passed twice.
Honestly, what have they earned to title ‘best female kpop group’. How???
Blackpink is the hugest disappointed I ever had in kpop
My unpopular opinion: BlackPinky's resounding success is due to YG's management!
The elephant in the room that no one wants to admit exists is:
Blinks are superficial!
That's why BP is superficial!
What attracted and still attracts fans to the group is the image of a strong , badass and model-beautiful girl on the outside but sweet, fragile and cute on the inside.
In short "pick me up" girl!
All of the group's songs are catch songs with no really interesting lyrics other than the good old:
"I'm beautiful, I'm brave in chasing the boy I want, and I'm better than the others!"
And I say good old style because that's what ALL the top female singers are talking about in their songs these days: from Dua Lipa to Nick Minaj, Passing by Ariana, CardiB and Stelion!
Your theory on YG's marketing strategy kinda reminds me of a Chinese saying: "Starve them long enough, even dogs will eat garbage."
"Oh, the long hiatus is just emulating the Western style of making comebacks"
My brother in Christ, Bruno Mars cooks banger after banger in between YEARS of his discography, can't say the same for BLACKPINK tho 💀💀 and his tours are far better tbh
Other than Lisa, non of them are cut out to be artists.
ive been into kpop since april of 2023 and i can say that blackpink is what kept me AWAY from kpop for 4 years... i never understood why they were so hyped up because their music was always so terrible to me, and i got the impression that since they were the biggest girl group, most kpop songs would sound the same so i never bothered to actually try listening to other groups in the genre
now that i'm a kpop stan i can fullheartedley say that they don't deserve the title of the biggest girl group, and i'll never understand why they are so hyped up. their music all sounds the same to me
on the topic of the members, jennie is SO lazy onstage because she knows blinks will eat it up just because its her, and she uses having motion sickness or being sick as an excuse for her poor dancing... has she been sick every day for the past 6 years or something? you would've thought that after a couple of performances she would've improved and woke tf up but nope, she didnt
it's just a massive slap in the face to those who have failed to become idols or those who work way harder than her to see her bare minimum dancing blowing up each time
newjeans literally dances better than her and they're rookies, while bp has been in the industry for 6? 7? years?
i would've literally sold my soul for other groups to have the fame that bp does, if they weren't from a big company they would've been forgotten ages ago and that's a fact
many groups have had severe injuries and mishaps on stage (eg that one gfriend stage where the stage was slippery, yet they kept getting back up and singing) and STILL performed better than jennie
she has no excuse
That's why i can't believe they are the BIGGEST KPOP GROUP just now i understand why people don't wants to be kpop fans💀
your opion but dont hate on jennie she gets more sick as well so like yh plus their music is like more tomboy then girly girl like the others that is why yg thought they wouldntt be a hit but here their are and i can basically say the same about army and maybe bts
@@stephanywkgamer661 what are you yapping about everyone gets sick 😭😭
I agree with this video, attended the houston concert last week and tbh I’m no more a blink after that. The girls were boring to watch and too much aegyo seemed cringe. Pink venom song sucked big time and their lyrics doesn’t make sense anymore. I’m really disappointed with their latest comeback. After two years they give us nothing, I really miss old blackpink.
how many songs they sang?
@@1991rendrawati All the 20 songs from the setlist except Boombwyah
