  • ABOUT GABARUS BEACH - This sand and cobblestone beach is a 40 minute drive from the Big Fiddle in Sydney NS. Perfect for strolling, admiring the scenery and enjoying the soundscape. There are no facilities and no lifeguard service. I'll tell you how to find this beach, what to expect when you arrive, I'll let you listen to the singing pebbles, I'll discuss the saga of the seawall, as well as the Gabarus lighthouse, and Gull Cove Trail. This video is dedicated to the devoted, persistent, determined residents of Gabarus - your story is inspiring. 🏊‍♀️
📺 ABOUT THIS CHANNEL - In 2023 I decided it would be fun to try to visit all the beaches on Cape Breton Island. I read somewhere there are around 80. I don’t know how long this will take - I’m just gonna go one by one. Thanks for watching. If you'd like to see more of my videos, please subscribe or leave a comment, I love reading comments from you.

@@CapeBretonBeachLife In case you're interested, we're Americans from eastern New England who transplanted to the midwest about 30 years ago. We have visited CB several times in recent years, mainly for an unspoiled ocean experience. Your videos are a joy to watch -- so beautiful and informative! We hope you continue the series as long as you can.

Hi Wayne! Thanks for your message. It’s really fun to know a bit about who is watching these videos! I have visited New England. As you probably know Nova Scotia sends a Christmas tree to Boston every year as a thank you for Boston's help after the Halifax Explosion. ❤️

I left CB as a boy and my love of the beaches has never left me. I now live in Alberta and I miss the Atlantic. Virtually every Pacific coast beach is covered with piles of rotting logs from their forest industry. I totally enjoy your videos and I long to return home. Thank you for sharing your beach videos on UA-cam. I like the way you present them. Please make more.
    Cheers!

Thank you so much, your comment put a smile on my face. It’s nice knowing a little about the people who are seeing these videos. Myself, I grew up living in the Central Interior of BC. Spent my summers swimming in lakes. I was a teenager when my class travelled to Queen Charlotte Islands (today called Haida Gwaii). That was my first time seeing the Pacific Coast. Beautiful, but very different from here. Check back soon - I’ll be posting more videos over the next couple months. Take good care!

I’m looking forward to your next post.
I spent a winter in my motorhome in Duncan and another winter in Kelowna. I have also spent many winters in Los Cabos, Mexico on the Sea of Cortes. All said and taken into consideration, Cape Breton is imbedded in my heart.
Thanks again for the time and effort put into your videos.
      👍

Nice post Phil. I left CB as a junior high kid, but get back almost every summer ( except for COVID years). There’s no place like it. Ingonish and Black Brook, to me anyways, would be my choice over any beach in the world. I hope you get back for some visits 😊
