This is so helpful, thank you! When I got this exact ukulele last week, I realized it didn't have the same bridge as the Nova U series, and although I guessed correctly what I was going to have to do, I wasn't really sure! I really appreciate the confirmation. ❤
Thanks for showing that it is a bit of a challenge ( finding and grabbing the string inside the uke!). I’ve learned so much. I can now proceed with confidence. And caution, of course.❤️
I pronounce ukulele as YOU-KU-LAY-LE and find it strange but more graceful how you pronounce it. I didnt know there was another way aha. BTW i love you, you are an amazing creator!
Looking at these old videos is helpful. Thank you. Note that it's probably easier to put all strings through the bridge holes and fish them through the tone hole before winding any of them on the machine heads. That way there's more space for your hand in the tone hole, making fishing easier. 🐟🐠🐡
My ukulele has this type of bridge, and when I took the Factory strings off, the first and fourth were tied to each other under the bridge, and 2nd and 3rd too... so i did the same with the new strings, and it seems to work ok, I´d like what you lovely lady teacher think about it...All I can say is I think that it is a lot safer, no risk at all that the knot can pass through the hole in the bridge and damage it... My strings are still stretching a bit, but they stretch a very little bit all at the same time, so I am not having any tuning issues. Lastly, I have to tell you that I love your lessons, your face, your mood, your cat, your joy, and thank you very much
❤️❤️yay a pineapple ukulele ❤️❤️❤️. This is a good quick reference. I never knew that the strings were threaded that way. To make it a little better before you start have a material list, for example this ukulele has a pull bridge you will need the strings and hexinuts to keep the string in place. I know in a previous video you had shown the replacement string pack Enya offered. As always Thank you for the tutorial. 💕~blessings ~
Thank you so much! I had a material breakdown recorded but I decided to cut it from the video because I can’t stand UA-cam videos with long intros 🙊 I like your idea, though. I’ll make a blog post about it and have the list there :)
Bernadette Teaches Music I understand, but from what I have seen in your past tutorials, like The stank face one, you will add some flare or humor. Plus I am curious how you will make the items appear with your hands through the magic of editing and special effects 😀❤️
Happy Trails from Canby Oregon! Received my new Enya 25D Blue today and restrung with the Low G D'Addario tenor strings you recommend ~ it sounds wonderful! This will be my most favorite of my ukes: Red Flight Travel (my "learning" uke), Enya M6 Concert Cutaway (my showboat uke), Kohola Mahgony Soprano (my beginner soprano loaned to a friend), and now, Enya 25D Blue, my beautiful soprano with Low G! Great video! Mission accomplished
Thank you, I will definitely do this with my Enya tenor ukulele. It doesn’t need new strings yet, but it wasn’t obvious to me on how to replace the strings.
Hhhmmm...looks simple enough because each step was very well explained (in the subtitles and description of this video). I imagined it to be more complicated. Lucky though that I don't have the need to change strings yet (I have shaky hands) but I'm glad to have this resource available anytime. It's always gratifying learning new skills. Thanks Bernadette! 😀😀😀
This video was definitely helpful!! I have an Enya tenor ukulele and I am always worried one of the strings will break and I will have trouble replacing it. Thank you!!
Ah! Thank you!! I have an enya (per your recommendation) and I'm going to have to change the strings soon. I've been dreading it because I have no idea what I'm doing but now I think it'll be fine. 😊
@@BernadetteTeachesMusic it arrived today... it has such a pretty sound and it's so easy to play compared to my old 30€ ammoon (I could not do bar chords with that one) I'm so happy that I bought it! 67€ for a quality solid mohogany top it's almost unbelievable here in Italy. now I just have to follow your lessons and get better at playing 😁
If you're clever, you can you the natural curve in the strings to get the ends to pop out of the sound hole after you push them through the bridge. I found the factory strings on the Enya to be very dull. Replacing them with fluorocarbons helped the sound quality somewhat.
Yeah!!! I had managed to get the curve to do that with the first uke I tried this on and as soon as the camera went on, it didn’t work anymore 😂 but I think showing the process this way is more important so that people see it is not perfectly easy sometimes

Hi Querida! Thanks for sending my Low G strings for my Enya, but what is it that you are tieing the end within the sound hole to? Mine didn't come with anything like that. Is it that I can just make a fat knot instead?
It was so tricky to do that the first time. One thing I have seen done and would like to do next time I change strings on my Enya is use beads printed with letters to match which string it is.
Ronnie Ball oh that’s interesting!! I didn’t even think about lettered beads! The first time was tricky for me too! But the second time (captured here) was much better.
It looks easy for a lady with smaller hands, but it's a nightmare for a man with big hands. It's just too cumbersome. I have a concert with pull through strings so what I did was take off all the strings, I drilled out the string holes and used a set of grooved pegs, tied a knot in the strings and inserted the pegs and that solved my issue. I can easily change strings now. Works for me.

I have a problem, my old string goes through a hole like that but it won’t come off from the inside. Something is holding it. I can probably cut it off from top and find some kind of bead to attach new string to from the underside. What could be holding it and how to get it loose Aklot ukulele.

Great video..
To string one of these instruments is an absolutely ridiculous, and counter productive design.
I can't even call it a design flaw,it's design is too intentional to call it a flaw.
Again, great video. But,what a dumb thing to have to go through to put strings on a ukelele.
u say ukelele weird
