Text: Nahum Tate | Tune: WILTSHIRE
Through all the changing scenes of life,
In trouble and in joy,
The praises of my God shall still
My heart and tongue employ.
Of His deliverance I will boast,
Till all that are distressed
From my example comfort take,
And charm their griefs to rest.
O magnify the Lord with me;
With me exalt His name;
When in distress to Him I called,
He to my rescue came.
The hosts of God encamp around
The dwellings of the just;
Deliverance He affords to all
Who in His mercy trust.
O make but trial of His love;
Experience will decide
How blessed are they, and only they,
Who in His truth confide!
Fear Him, ye saints, and you will then
Have nothing else to fear;
Come, make His service your delight,
Your wants shall be His care.
(Psalm 34)
Lost a dear family member. This was one of the hymns at his service. Rest in Perfect Peace Uncle Ken. Forever in our hearts 💕
I woke up this morning singing this song. I'm so grateful to the Lord for His love for us all.
Today is the 06th June 2024 and this song came to my spirit as I was meditating on the word of God in the book of Daniel chapter 1. God is so loving and so faithful that even when we're going through trials he's with us for he promised us that he'll never leave us nor forsake us even in the times of trouble.
Pslms 9:9
9] The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.
Yes! Life changes scenes but God never changes!
The same yesterday, today and forever!
What comfort!
" Deliverance He affords to all who on his succour trust."
Thank you Jesus
Today is June 11th 2024.This is the song that just crossed my mind and I searched for it.Very comforting.
I lost my Dad a few weeks ago and I woke up with this hymn in my heart. Thank you Jesus for reminding me that you're with me through it all
Thanks and praises be to the Lord our God and Savior Jesus Christ.
Heard for the first time and I am 69. This makes me long for more of Him.

When in distress, to him I called, he to my rescue came🙌🏽🤲🏼

Yeah right, too bad the 1500 dead victims on the Titanic and the 5,000 on 9/11/01, and the 900 dead children whose boat caught fire and sunk in NY's East River, and they drowned- all desperately and frantically "called" and NOTHING helped any of them!
Everytime I hear this hymn bring tears to my eyes was played at my mom's funeral
Pray this prayer for God to strengthen your heart

Today is the 16th June 2024 and this song came to my spirit as I was communicating with my heavenly father about my marriage thank you Holy Spirit. There is also a sixth verse to this song.
These are the lyrics

the God whom we adore,
be glory, as it was, is now,

Everything will change, but God remains forever faithful. Let us praise his name forever. It is good to be reminded of this, and these hymns help us to do so.

This was my favorite hymn in school 1971 to 1976, the 1st and last verse are always my go to!
Methodist hymns are so spiritual. I love them all. Thanks God .
I think this hymn writer predates Methodism, but I agree it's lovely. :)
I think it was written by Nicholas Brady, 1659-1726. Almost 90% of the hymnals were written Charles Wesley, the brother of John Wesley, who was the founder of the Methodist movement.
@@joshuasulaiman8906 Correct, written by Nicholas Brady and Nahum Tate. both poets in the 17th Century. Brady was the grandson of the Anglican Bishop of Meath and Tate's father was the Anglican rector of Castleterra, Ballyhaise Ireland. A beautiful Hymn.
Hallelujah. All I have is Christ. Jesus is my life.
The 3rd stanza is just on another level.
I love these hymns
Fear Him ye all, and you will have nothing else to fear.
"make you HIS service your delight, your wants shall be HIS care" ...As a chorister in the Anglican church, I sang this hymn since I joined the choir at age 8, it was also, a regular hymn at the devotion in my secondary school(AGGS, Ijebu - ode, Ogun State, Nigeria), but the HOLY SPIRIT opened my eyes to the last two lines of the last verse at the watch nite service two days ago....GOD be praised. HE is faithful.
I recall singing this as a teen in the choir in my home church St George’s in Hyderabad India.
Through all the changes my soul rejoice
Heavenly Father I pray that you’ll raise up again John and Charles Wesley’s , JG Decks,. Fanny Crosby’s etc who would really enter deeply into your presence and find words to penned hymns of such a sort . Thanks for these hymns Lord, May your name be for ever glorified for you ALONE are WORTHY. Amen

Beautiful
So very true. So very true.
One of my favorite hymns. Beautifully rendered. Unfortunately, we don't sing hymns in our Churches again. If you can, please tune in to my program every Sunday morning on IMPACT BUSINESS RADIO, IBADAN, NIGERIA from 7.35-8.00am (Nigerian time). Stream the program HYMNS WE LOVE on www.ibr925fm.com. You will enjoy it. Through all the changing scenes of life. Beautiful hymn.
Amen.
Glory to god
Modern-day anthems ain't got nothing on these hymns of old. It is as if they were written while the authors were sitting at the feet of God.
very well put
so right i feel that too
Or so doctrinally correct in almost every sentence.
Oh you couldn't have said it better. Listen with headphones and you feel as though you're being transported to heaven.
@@leotolstoy8107 Amen and Amen!!
This hymn is a funeral staple in the Anglican churches my country.
My mother's favorite (deceased) hymn and it is now mine. Wonderful, comforting song. The peace of knowing that God is with us.

Modernist and post modernists have rejected the sound majestic and majesterial himself which bring us before goods presence whenever and where ever they are played no modern songs are able to do that with their rank emotionalism and appealing to ones senses.
Amen
Yes thx bro, it was one of our mum's favourite hymns. All the verses are prayers that move the heart. Now it's the favourite for all of us. Another of her favourites was MHB 511. 'Be gone unbelieve'.

There are ‘some’ modern hymns that are up to scratch. Don’t forget that all hymns were new once! I think the problem with a lot of contemporary songs is the shallowness of the doctrine contained in them, they are too triumphalist and do not reflect the seriousness and the struggle of the real Christian life. Also the tunes tend to be weak, as though they were composed by someone strumming a guitar rather than by a true composer of music. But I would never ‘ throw the baby out with the bathwater’ and condemn all modern compositions. ‘O Lord my Rock and my Redeemer’ for instance, I would class as a good modern hymn.
