    Farmacias del Ahorro are everywhere in Mexico. You can get a consultation free.. You just tip them 50 ,100 pesos. They don't charge you. You just have to buy the medicine in the pharmacy(but there's no obligation) . When I've had severe flu, stomach infection, back pain, or even covid I went to the pharmacy doctor and they're very good. The one near my home has a retired doctor ( wants to keep working) he has 35 years experience.. He's been more effective than other especialists that charge 1,200 pesos (65dlls or so) .

    ¡Tienes razón sobre los grupos de expatriados! Muchos de ellos se quejan y se quejan constantemente de Mérida o de México en general. Si haces una pregunta, muchas personas son groseras y sarcásticas. Es refrescante cuando alguien es amable y servicial, pero tienes razón sobre el entorno tóxico. Gracias, José, por todo lo que haces.

      Police don't ask you what you residency status is. They also don't really care much about the license either. They care more about the actual paperwork to the car. But the truth is that each state is completely different so just research before hand to make sure you have everything in order

      I hear BBVA and Banko Azteca are good banks

    • @davidsebastianelli1326
      @davidsebastianelli1326 2 місяці тому

      @@JoseArteagaTravels Hola Jose y Christian! BBVA charges close to ten dollars for their ATM use and the big thing is they do not give you the option to decline the exchange rate they offer! I went to use their ATM when I first moved here and it said their exchange rate they were giving was 17.50 and I knew at that time the official exchange rate was 19.80 so I cancelled my transaction and walked to the HSBC. Just by having the option to decline their exchange rate I saved $59.73us when I withdrew $9000 pesos for rent! That is a huge money saving tip that quite a few people are not aware of. When you get money from an ATM you have to accept their use fee but you don't have to accept the exchange rate they are giving. You will still get your money if you decline it!! They hide the decline botton in the bottom left hand corner! Another big money saving tip is to get a Charles Schwab debit card before leaving the US and just do most of your banking needs online. They refund your ATM use fees and they don't charge you an exchange rate fee along with any transfer fees. Keep your regular bank in the US and just transfer only as much money to your Charles Schwab account as needed. It's a good way to keep your money safe without having to regularly use a Mexican bank. BTW Banks here are not run like in the US, you have to take a number when you walk in and sometimes sit for close to an hour just to talk with someone! Mucha suerte desde la hermosa Ensenada!

      In Sayulita we use Intercam. My friend who has lived there for 20 years recommended them as he uses that bank. They are very friendly toward Americans, they have branches all over, they have people who speak English if one does not speak Spanish fluently, they provided proper wiring instructions, and the accept as well as send international wires. I have never been limited on the amount of a wire, deposit, or withdrawal

    got another question regarding preparing to immigrate to Mexico from the US: I have no clue if you know the answer to this but my plan for income has been getting a TESL certification so i can be a Maestro de Ingles online. But I recently got a job as a van driver, delivering for Amazon and learned from the 18 wheeler amazon drivers that there is a trucker school where i can get training and a CDL for free so i can become a dedicated semi truck driver. If I took advantage of this opportunity to learn to be a semi truck driver on top of me becoming an online english teacher, can an immigrant with a residency visa get a job as a semi truck driver in Mexico? As in working for a mexican company, getting paid in pecos? I've heard the term "work visa" but don't know much about that subject.
    Asking because i dont want to put in the work to learn a whole new trade if it's a skillset i can't use in Mexico. For example I know that if i were a licenced pilot, i cant fly planes for a living in Mexico (or so i've been told).

    • @JoseArteagaTravels
      @JoseArteagaTravels  2 місяці тому +1

      Yes of course you can be a truck driver and teach english. You just need a work permit which you can obtain at INM if you want to have a more in depth conversation about this you can book a 1 on 1 consultation and I can try to help you to the best of my abilities. Here's a direct link for more info www.josearteaga.com/youtube-consultations

    • @GringoPicante
      @GringoPicante 2 місяці тому

      thanks! yeah i actually plan on doing a 1 on 1 consultation with you in the near future. As soon as i finish becoming a TESL instructor online and am in a stable routine of doing that as a stable job, finishing learning spanish will be the last bare minimum goal to accomplish before i start visiting a list of towns in Mexico that im considering moving to as a way to both help myself figure out what town i want to live in and to field test the digital nomad capabilities of my job. And i want to pay for a couple of consultations with you at that point before i start visiting so i can find out any holes in my immigration plan. :)

    • @JoseArteagaTravels
      @JoseArteagaTravels  2 місяці тому +1

      I'm used to the Heat I was born and raised in Miami where we have similar weather. I was also a cook/chef for a long period of my life so it is easier for me to handle the heat. Also we have Air Conditioners and we go out to the Beach or a friends pool, or a Cenote to cool off. We never once had any power issues here where I live. There are many parts of Merida without any issues whatsoever. Most of the areas with problems are in the North where there is a lot more demand and less infrastructure to handle all the needs of everyone having their Air Conditioners on at the same time 24/7.

    • @JoseArteagaTravels
      @JoseArteagaTravels  2 місяці тому +3

      Mexico is not going to accept Nukes from Russia. Mexico and the USA have a very dependent relationship with each other and Mexico has absolutely no need to do anything like that. Cuba or Venezuela are more likely to do something like that and they won't do it there either. I would say to you not to believe everything you hear online or on the main stream news or where ever you heard such a thing. If anyone is putting Nukes in Mexico its the USA and they also have no need to do such a thing. Despite what you hear on the News Mexico and the USA are tied at the hip and enjoy a mutually beneficial relationship that is only getting stronger with time.

    I think you should be clear that most Mexican businesses appreciate American dollars. However, mexicans do not see Americans as dollar signs. We make our own money and do not expect Americans to pay for us or give us money. At least here in Monterrey, Mexico, we don't do that. We have our own money, and we are okay with Americans. We don't ''love them''; we are just okay with them. If they are cool, we are cool; if they are not cool, believe me, we can be very mean. But usually, Americans are cool, so they are welcome. It has nothing to do with U.S. dollars. I cringe every time an American says that.

    • @JoseArteagaTravels
      @JoseArteagaTravels  2 місяці тому +2

      Most Mexican Businesses DO NOT Prefer US Dollars. Perhaps in certain Mexican Cities on the US Border or close to the Border like Monterey. Or in touristy spots like in Cancun they prefer USD. But anywhere else in the country Mexicans want Pesos. In fact I know of many people that drive across the border all the time and for over a year now they have been telling me that even the Mexican Vendors do not want US Dollars anymore they ONLY Want Mexican Pesos and will only accept the US Dollars if you are willing to pay more/pay a premium. Thanks for sharing your thoughts
