Amy I appreciate the video and info. Just an FYI, Sun City Grand is now called The Grand. I guess the PR people wanted to freshen up the name and be a little different. Also since I live in Surprise, this place is being built out like crazy. If I ever decide to move to Scottsdale, will reach out to you. Do you play golf? Take care and be well.
Thanks for the info, David. I had to see when the name was changed - looks like that happened in '23. I had no idea! I'm NOT a golfer, other than Top Golf. 😆 However, I am an avid pickleball player! I lived in Scottsdale for several years in the early 2000s and loved it there. It'd be a pleasure to help you with any future moves! Thanks for keeping me in mind.
This was a really nice overview. I thought I knew this area, but you added a lot to the picture. In these age restricted areas, are grandkids allowed to visit? Stay overnight? If you are in Sun City are the other rec areas open to you and if you are in Grand are the other rec areas open to you? Thx
I appreciate the questions. Yes, grandkids are allowed to stay, but there is a limit on how long. I believe it is up to 90 days for grandchildren under the age of 19. So they could stay the whole summer! The rec centers are not open to residents outside of that community (so Sun City West residents do not have use of Sun City Grand rec centers, for example). However, there is some overlap for the golf courses. Each community has ample rec centers for their residents though, in my opinion!
@@AmyAndJoonArizonaRealtors Yes, it’s voluntary to pay SCHOA fee but we lived in a condo and paid a monthly HOA fee for green way maintenance, water 💧 bill, roof insurance and other expenses. When we moved the HOA fee was $200/month.
@@AmyAndJoonArizonaRealtors I sometimes think Google maps has a sense of humor. So much depends on time of day, traffic, detours, accidents, construction - and for those portions of a journey not on a freeway - red lights. In my own travelling in the Valley (and I'm in north Central Phoenix, but have lived decades in various parts), I have found journeys to usually take twice as long as they say - at least during rush hour (which is getting to be all day now).
@@timward3116 yes - depends so much on traffic, detours, accidents, etc. But when I have used google maps, I've found it to be pretty accurate in terms of the drive time.

Sun City does have areas with HOAs
Are you referring to SCHOA? If so, I thought that was voluntary (and also about $25/year).

@@dw0313 thanks for the info! I should have thought about the condos. 😁
Half an hour drive to the airport? You must be driving at least 50 mph over the speed limit at 3:00 a.m. to get there in half an hour.
@@timward3116 you're right. It's takes a bit longer. If no traffic, Google maps is saying about 38 minutes.

@@AmyAndJoonArizonaRealtors Well, there ya go. We can probably split the difference, LOL.
Are the rats at the Phoenix VA really bigger than cats?
I sure hope not. 😫 Our vets deserve better. I know this was in the news a coupon of years ago at one facility. I hope they have cleaned up their act.
