Hi Ijon, thank you for watching. That is correct. The scenario is a learning scenario and only introduces a few of the rules at a time, which do not include the Air vs Ship rules.

I may actually play my game along with your video to get some practice. I will say that the rules for Carrier Battle are very well done, having clear explanations and nice design notes. I particularly like the extended example of play which I am playing along with currently. The only thing I can think of which could be improved would be to have a chart reference location in the extended example of play because it sometimes takes a little time to find the right chart. I am penciling those in for quick reference. Thanks for your helpful, well-explained video.

You know, I wanted to get that game, but it seemed a bit complicated with a lot of bookkeeping. But I think I may have missed judged that.

Hi Nerd, It is a complex rule set and I'll be back to playing it soon enough, but from what I have done so far, i have liked it. The bookkeeping is handled on the board, easy enough, unless say a cat swipes at the markers...

Ah. The day Macarthur slept in. Tough subject for me as my grandfather ended up on a death march there, while Macarthur took a boat. They could have had the ability to knock those Japanese planes out early, but they couldn't arm the first sortie they sent out. The boss was sleeping in a half hour, with orders not to disturb. The half hour mark always seems to be a thing in history.

Hi Tim, Wow, what a personal story. I can't image having a do not disturb order in the middle of a war.

@@HissyCat His staff was paralyzed so only sent unarmed planes to see the Japanese landing fields. Bad cloud cover also. My grandfather had a wound in his leg that never healed right, because the Japanese soldiers would stab their legs with bamboo shoots with some kind of ointment on it so it wouldn't heal. Then if you fell, which my grandfather didn't, you know the rest. Took him decades of healing to find forgiveness, but he did. He was a wonderful man.
