My E4OD just went. Every E4OD I have just doesn’t last. Currently trying to find a ZF5 with everything to swap over. Is it true ZF5 only came in 3/4 and above?
I am currently working on this. How difficult is it to run the master + slave cylinders? I know how to do the master. But, when running the slave, do you have to go back through the firewall with the line… or does it run down right from the master to the side of the trans?
So I got a question I swapped out my auto for a zf5 and I put a hydra chip tuner on it and I was trying to figure out if I needed to put a manual pcm on it or will it do just fine with a automatic pcm?
@@nicrothlisberger5390 how do you connect the neutral start switch for the automatic transmission to work on the manual transmission ? Do they have the same connector ? Or do you just cut the wire & connect the 2 wire ends on the wire harness & bypass the neutral start switch ?
Won’t be hard finding a zf5 for that I imagine. I’m always seeing zf5 s with 7.3. Everywhere and plentiful. Very rarely have I seen one for a 460 being sold unless it’s still in the truck and running.
@@forsakenace9577 should be fine for basically any mild build. Might vibrate in the driveline. But a ZF5 would be the high desirability swap. The length is the same. It's just much lighter duty. Cross member and a t case brace would probably be in order.
@forsakenace9577 find a donor truck. Probably find one cheap. Then sell the rest of the stuff for scrap. They're durable transmissions. A used one will work.

You're better off going with a 4r70w
Did that done that went from automatic to zf5 had issues with drive shafts vibration gearing went right back to automatic! Not worth it.
Never figured out the issue? I want to do a zf5 swap on my dads old 93 thats now mine it’s been threw a few E40ds
How much did it cost and where do you work at?
I just did this but truck won't start I assume it's because it's not seeing it in park. Did you have to bypass anything?

Did you keep the e40d wiring harness and just change the pcm? If swapped where can I find the harness
Did you use a single mass flywheel or the dual mass flywheel? Also, what clutch kit did you use

Great job. I am curious what you did about the wiring to the clutch pedal. Was it already there and just not plugged in with the automatic?
Yessur the harness is already ran for it the plug just has a dummy plug it goes into in the back of the dash!
