I bought the exome last year, it’s not heated but has the breath box with the filter , last year was mostly -20F nearly every day here in northern North Dakota so you had no choice but to ride when it was cold, I paid $300 bucks for it and it’s the only helmet that I’ve owned that my glasses don’t fog up it in, for 1700 I’d suffer with a cheaper helmet but mine isn’t a tax write off either so I understand ponying up that kind of doe.

Great comments Mike, I have had the same issue with fogging on the colored lens. (can't use it either), plus a few other things.
    PROS
    Great sight lines
    Visor is nice
The vibe system works great, music sounds great (thou issue between the 10.25 screen and phone) losing the Bluetooth link
    Helmet is cooler than oxygen
    Helmet is comfortable
Don't need a balaclava, but a neck gator is recommended.
The neck collar is great once you're used to it.
    CONS
Price is crazy out of wack from any helmet on the market.
Coloured lens is almost useless due to moisture in the upper helmet and vent area (tried with and without balaclava worse with it)
The electric visor fogged in the upper corners on several late evening rides last weekend below -25, which was becoming a challenge for vision.
Make sure to undo the neck collar and remove it from your jacket before removing the helmet as the collar will pop out of the channel holding it into the helmet.
Personally, I think the chin and nose area, is just a touch too close to my face, in fact with enough pressure I can open the mask with my chin.
Last issue, as you note the locking of the mask, you need to make sure the magnet(s) are sitting right and closed, or air will leak in, or the mask may not fully close.
The chin vents do not fully close all the way or can freeze open or closed in cold weather below -20.
I think BRP has to do some serious minor refinements to this helmet, if I could return it I likely would. And continue to search for a near-perfect helmet. This one is close, but some very small issues, that are pissing me off for the money invested. I do love the built-in vibe system. Havent tried to pair with anyone yet, but have heard there are challenges. I think BRP could have done better with this helmet. I've got about 3K on my helmet so far, mostly Quebec with a few day rides in Ontario.

Great inputs here Chris. I think overall, it's definitely a great helmet and you actually don't need to pair the Vibe system - it does it automatically with other Vibe system users which is pretty cool. Thanks for watching and seems we are both on the quest for the PERFECT helmet! Cheers, Mike

I found that you have to actually charge the vibe and that it doesn’t charge up when plugged in to the sled. But once it’s charged up and then you unplug from the sled the battery lasted a day and a half. But then plug it back in and it’s good. And the advex works with all senas

Thanks Mike, I picked this helmet up in December when skidoo had 30% off so a little less pain $$. I have not used yet this season, so all your observations are appreciated, and any additional comments from other riders who have been using it.

Thanks for the video.....Ski-Doo must be out of their minds to try and sell a $1700.00 (all in) helmet....there is no way I would put this on a shelf at a dinner stop and worry about some thief walking off with it. You'll find these on the clearance racks in 5 years because they won't sell.

Thanks for the review, can't help but notice you wear glasses as do I, any problems fogging? I've had 3 seasons with the Oxygen now and I find most times have to ride with the shield cracked open a bit. That said it is hands down the best helmet I have used and I usually try a new helmet every year until I purchased the Oxygen.

Unfortunately I don't wear glasses when I ride. I wear contacts for sledding. That being said our buddy Andrew wears glasses and just keeps his visor slightly cracked on the oxygen for the first minute or two of riding until the temperatures climatize and then he can close his visor without his glasses fogging. Cheers, Mike

Hi Mike . With the fancy Neck Curtain do I still need a Beleclava ? Take care.

Not in warmer temps you are good without one. In colder weather, I still ran a belaclava. Cheers, Mike

Good review. I was set to buy this helmet until I realized you can't open the visor. Deal breaker for me.

Did you ever try to see if the peak could fit on the oxygen too? I'm ordering a oxygen tonight! The heated garage for the sun visor is huge.

Hey Devon! Unfortunately the peak will not fix the oxygen. Definitely one of our favourite helmets though. You will love it! Cheers, Jesse

They need to make a peak for the oxygen. Brp should do updates to the oxygen instead of all these new helmets. Its like there trying to re-invent the wheel.

@@mikepreston5758They released the new Oxygen flow - same helmet but a vent on the shield top allow 10C cooler temps inside...

So is it confirmed that this helmet will only communicate with other advex helmets?

    • @sledaddicz
      @sledaddicz  7 місяців тому

Yes. Other advex AND sena devices. It will not work with cardo, uclear etc. I spoke directly with a head at sena who worked on the vibe system for the advex (it was built by sena). Cheers, Jesse

@@sledaddicz thanks for the reply. That immediately rules out the advex helmet for me. At that price point it should connect to any communicator. Looks like I’m getting a mission with the sena 50s instead.

Sorry what? At 1700 bucks there should be no quirks that you don't like on a helmet. It also should not have to be plugged in for clear non-freezing vision, helmet manufacturers have to figure this stuff out. The CKX Mission has, so it can't be that hard.
