If you are still in Ghana, go out in the evening and buy some kelewele. It’s sold mostly at night. You haven’t had fried plantain until you’ve had kelewele. Next time you try Waakye, add some fried plantain to it. Next level ish..... I love my Ghanaian food!!!

Apart from the waakye you ate the rest of your meals were partially served. The red fish and the pepper sauce is usually served with kenkey as the main meal(starch) and shito as an additional sauce if perfered. the same goes for the banku too, its either eaten especially with okro soup/stew and some fish or with the shitor and pepper sauces with fish. Most ghanaian and west african meals are served in that particular format, a starch as the main meal then a sauce/stew/soup with fish/meat as protein.
Y'all should have gone out there with a local, then the experience would have been fuller. Regardless, this video was still amazing.
Style Bia Bi Kenkey is a staple food eaten in mostly by the people of Accra. It is made from fermented corn. it can be booed or steamed.
The pepper and fish goes with Kenkey. The Kenkey was in the rubber in the pan by the fish

I love all these Ghanaian vlogs. Keep up the good work, Viv. Was in Ghana in June and I'm Ghanaian. For the waakye, it's def one of the best Ghanaian meals, but it goes better with shito, the lady should have given u shito... For the banku, if you are getting fresh pepper and shito, you will need fried red fish or baked juicy tilapia. You went to the wrong spot for banku. You could have gone to chez clarrise in osu for some good tilapia....And I'm sure that shito wasn't well made either cos shito is one of our best condiments and everyone including whites love it!!! And oh, amane nketewa is small herrings. They tastes extremely good too and they go well with kenkey or banku. Next time, go with a Ghanaian to show u the right joints and what to get and how to eat it!!!

Waakye was one of my favs when I went to Ghana next to banku tilapia
You ate the very 1st dish I want to try when I make it to Ghana or just West Africa....Waakye 😋. Then I want to try goat skin or fried red snapper with fufu (plantain and cassava) and light soup or a soup that has no okra.

Banku is an acquired taste for sure. I think it tastes better with Nigerian okra soup and stew - or eaten with stuff you eat fufu with.

Vivian, I have always been nervous about eating with my hands - especially swallow and soup. You really make eating with the hands look refined. You have shown how it's done. Vivian 10/10 for your colourful backgrounds / back drops that make this town look like a top holiday destination (the sunglasses also help!) and that Igbo music really matches well. Well done.

We normally eat banku with shito pepper with fried fish, the banku is sour because the maize or corn went through process of fermentation by sitting in a bowl of water two to three day before it was milled into dough

When I was in Kumasi I bought some street food and the lady was so rude to me because I was a "Foreigner" even though I was born in Kumasi.
She was the only not nice person I met though.
Never really liked Banku though.
One of my best friends is Nigerian and his mom made some Okra dish...it looked like Ghana Okra stew..it was very good.

How do you eat a huge a ball of kenkey and banku on top of a belly full of wache lol? by the way banku and kenkey can only be enjoyed if you grew up eating it. If you are a foreigner or new to Ghana it's very hard to appreciate some good banku or kenkey with pepper sauce
