  • Once of the sketchier things I’ve done. Full disclosure I’ve never put a loader on a tractor before. I look forward to all the comments pointing out where I went wrong. I’d like to hear of better ways incase I have to take it off for something.

If its possible to hook up the hydraulics, before the loader frame is bolted up, that should help quite a bit in maneuvering the lower portion of the frame into place. With a more modern quick attach loader, they lift themselves into place and they lift themselves off.
This video makes me appreciate my quick attach loaders..
Also, that is a very nice 4000!!

Looking back I should have probably tried to hook the lines up first. My first go at it was definitely a learning experience. And yes the quick attach loaders do look very nice. And thanks for the compliment on the 4000. It’s come a long long way since I drug her home.

Use a come-along or maybe a heavy ratchet strap to move the tractor forward or backward while in neutral for fine aligning the ubolt over the rear axle. A box scraper on the rear end would be a good ebrake, just drop it to the ground ASAP if needed. I know I can push my Ford 3930 on level ground when off the tractor connecting a 2 bottom plow. That freaked me out the first time it happened, lol. Gotta be careful, tractor brakes aren't that great. I always drop the PTO implement to the ground when idling the tractor and off of it doing something else.
