Gus is the true definition of a modern day metal legend. His style is so effortless and clean. Definitely a rarity among a lot of newer recognized metal players.
HinjuRock I can’t imagine Gus G sits at home and plays that solo all the time. That’s probably the first time he’s played it in a good while. Looked like he was going for more getting the notes out for the video purposes.

Agreed, Dream Evil is by far the best stuff (and still is, even without Gus G) out of all stuff that Gus G did in his career! Firewind comes 2nd closest, Mystic Prophecy stuff is also not bad... It's actually pretty sad, considering he was like 20ish years old back then...
Gus G seems like an overall great person to sit down and chat with. Didn't seem at all hesitant to just rift away at will. Felt like a real humble laid back interview.
I saw this guy playing with Dream Evil on their very first concert ever - opening up for Blind Guardian in Göteborg. Even that early, you could tell that Gus had some special musical talent.
5:08 kinda disagree with Megadeth. Dave's rhythms are as complicated and impressive as other guitar players leads. Songs from countdown to extinction are easier than earlier songs. Maybe that's what he was thinking
I mean Megadeth riffs are good for newbies as a way of practising and learning various technics. And feel rewarding as fuck when you do actually get to nail them which might give newbies confidence.
Man some of Dave's riffs are borderline lead line's , the stamina? I think y'all done forgot where ya'll came from . I sit down once or twice a month and play '' Rust" all the way front to back " Dave's parts " sheet fukin tell me . Y'alls weed is to strong or some shit , im a forty year player when i get done w that album im cooked . Try it ¡¡¡¡
@Manny Fragoza I understand why you say that, but I think it's more tha he simply has no interest in being flashy anymore. Listen to Red Dragon Cartel - same Jake E Lee, but only refined and stripped to a minimum.
Gus is near genious, he during a interview mentions un-nessesary finger movemenf". While still achieving stellar thorough results. I really like gus mindset" he also knows equipment very well. Pedals through amplification technics. Very knowledgeable gus"
Maybe when closing the show , have the guitarist take us out with some playing as we don't get to hear much with the interviews taking up most of the time.

I saw ozzy 2 times with zakk and 2 times with Gus. I love zakk, but when it comes to the sound of the guitar live, gus g was 100 times better for me. The guitar sounded crunchy but clean, the solos were played perfectly and you could hear every note clearly, and also, the pinch harmonics were very well used. Zakk on the other hand sounded awful both times with his tone and by the third song I was sick of the harmonics. Don't get me wrong, I love zakk, he's a beast. But I would have loved to see Gus a little longer in the band.
Watched a documentary about Gus last night on Greek TV. Embarrassed to say first time i got to know who he is and how he got there. Big shout out loud to his wonderful parents. I was like him (and lots of other kids) jamming my keyboards for hours, but sometimes parents- as the know better - they had other plans for me. I love my parents and I don't hold any hard feelings for them, I am so lucky to have them. Parents out there, let your kids follow their dreams. Gus you are a top man.
There were some megadeth songs that I learned early on and they helped quite a bit. Obviously symphony is a good one, a classic yet simple one. But Holy Wars was great for learning how synchronize my hands, and hangar 18 built down picking stamina while teaching me some chord shapes. Definitely not total beginner stuff, but very useful learning tools after the total basics.
Fire And The Fury is heavy than the gravition if our sun. Loaded with the pressure density of a neutron star. And the explosive power of a binary supernova. Firewind and GUS G. Have brought great stuff to all but my question is something or someone restricting the creative scopes and obvious repertoire
Black Sabbath has Paranoid. Deep purple has Smoke On The Water. Firewind has The Fire And The Fury. Those are the three most influential metal songs ever.

Kiko Louirero? Syn?
Kiko too, but Michael Schenker at age of 70 still plays perfect and clean after 50 years.
Please, I am curious as to who these inferior "newer metal players' are that you are referencing? This is important for context.
"locked myself in my room and never went out until I had all this stuff mastered" thanks pandemic.
I've never heard the nothing else matters solo played so spicy-ly
And completely lacking in feel.
@@hinjurock Who would knew that a solo without a backing track could sound sterile, maybe it's the fact that there is no harmonic reference.

The album Ozzy Scream is brutally underrated. Just a lethal album. Great artist. Firewind is awesome.
The man knows where his fingers are going without even looking, freaking awesome 🎸🙋
Plenty of people who aren't technically that great can play without looking.
If you look at the fretboard while you are playing something is wrong.
tagradh Except Gus is a very technical player, yet still doesn’t really look at the fretboard during his leads. That’s true talent
It's called muscle memory. It's like doing a skateboard trick. Once you learn and mastered, you can do it without looking
@@Metalwhore89 Only a non-guitar-player would find that impressive. It's just a natural by-product of practice, and level of technique is irrelevant.
