The MISSION of the Willy Street Chamber Players is to represent, inspire, and enrich Madison's East Side by forging community partnerships and presenting excellent, innovative, and accessible performances of chamber music.
Established in 2015, the WILLY STREET CHAMBER PLAYERS came into being when an idea for an informal summer concert series among friends quickly gained momentum. Realizing they could create something great, this small group of young Madison musicians devised a fierce guerrilla marketing strategy canvasing door-to-door, tacking posters to the windows of east side restaurants, bars, and shops, and performing on local radio. The work of these dedicated newcomers paid off; local audiences responded with enthusiasm and came out by the hundreds. By the final concert of the pilot season, the ensemble had 4 successful concerts under its belt, was performing to glowing reviews from Madison’s top music critics and boasted audiences of over 200 people.
The Willy Street Chamber Players are dedicated to creating community through classical music. Now in their 10th season, they have become a fixture of the Willy Street neighborhood's vibrant cultural scene. Awarded a GOLD MEDAL in Madison Magazine's prestigious "Best of Madison" reader poll, WSCP has received numerous accolades for its accessible and exciting performances, intelligent and fun programming, and community partnerships.
Today, the group consists of four core members. Led by Artistic Director and violinist Paran Amirinazari, each player brings a fresh, imaginative take to classical music.
