I would like to thank all of you for proving my end video caution wrong. Perhaps I should apologize but the bottom line 99% of the comments have gone through without moderation and I thank you for the wonderful contributions you've made to this channel. I know you are a chatty bunch and I try to read all comments. I can't respond to them all. BTW this video has put me over the 50k sub mark. I'm am grateful to all those who have decided to subscribe but I'm just as thrilled to have you lone viewers. You will notice I never ask for subs. I find that practice unseemly. Love you all.
You deserve the subs for your truly creative content. It's great to have a unique perspective like yours along with your independent thinking. I doubt I speak only for myself when I say that many people are hungry for reality from individual voices.
Chato! Would you ever talk about the World Economic Form and The Great Reset from Klaus Schwab? It seams like a lot of the origins woke ideology were maybe also inserted from the WEF’s rise to power over the decades.
The worst thing any UA-camr can do is beg for subscribers. 90% of them do. There's only a few out there that don't go through that pathetic line about "Please like the video and ring the bell" bla bla bla. Those that don't do this instantly gain my respect. Great channel. You earned my subscription on the first video the algorithm fed me. Keep it up. This channel will continue to grow.
It's been 2 days and 13k views, so it may yet change. But I think it more likely this channel is just off the radar of the sort of people inclined to present opposing views in the comment section.
Interesting. As a teenager I did not see the wokiness of an Ellen Ripley character, she just seemed like another protagonist. No big deal. As it should be.
If that movie were made today, at some point Ripley would have to challenge Captain Dallas, saying something about "You're just ignoring me because I'm a woman" etc. Ripley was the only one on the ship who followed regulations and if they'd listened to her, that alien wouldn't have gotten loose amongst them in the first place. All that is obvious in the script without anyone beating the audience over the head, and the subtext is that the other crew don't listen to Ripley because they're a bunch of unprofessional doofuses.
Agreed. Ripley had nothing to do with "wokiness". Back in the day, heroes didn't have to be men to kick ass and be awesome. Casting Sigourney Weaver wasn't based on her genitals... (though it may have had a little to do with her boobs. . . ;-). There were a lot of awesome kick-ass ladies back then. Princess Leia comes to mind... and what about Linda Hamilton in the Terminator? I mean, talk about bad-ass.
So, interesting bit of trivia about Alien - none of the characters had first names in the script. The reason was so that whoever was casting the roles wouldn't be limited by whether the character was male or female - every single one could be cast as either.
Thomas Sowell: Envy was once considered to be one of the seven deadly sins before it became one of the most admired virtues under its new name, 'social justice'.
Sowell has some incredible points and food for thought. I pay attention to his opinions, observations, and conclusions. I don't always agree with one or more of these, however I can appreciate why he's expressing what he is. Sometimes I share in his conclusion but have taken a different approach to get to my conclusion. I pay attention and respect what he says because approaches topics open-mindedly, is a critical thinker and will process all the information and rescources available on the topics without his own emotion and then come to his conclusion, THEN approach his conclusion to the topic to see if it's a conclusion that can hold merit. His delivery is concise and pointed. He can defend without becoming defensive. He speaks in a consistent tone and can be intensive in his speech without having to yell or interupt or override. 👏💜 your input!!
As a teacher, yes that's what's happening in Australia too. Every year, in English, students must read books and basically interpret everything as racism or sexism or both. Sometimes I read the same books as they do (say, Medea by Euripides) and while I come away with it with larger interpretations such as the themes of Order vs Chaos, students are getting their heads filled with "misogyny" which to them means "whenever a woman acts like a woman, in the traditional sense." English teachers, most of them women, ALWAYS choose texts and interpretations that fit this kind of agenda. I think it does the students a great injustice to limit their thinking to just these...victimhood concepts rather than greater ideas.
I don't know about teaching in Australia, but in the US the most foundational text in the teaching universities is Paulo Friere's Politics of Education. He specifically calls for exactly what you're describing. He says teaching kids to understand the contents of a book, is just teaching them to confom to the oppressive society in which they live. They should instead, he says, think primarily of their criticism of the author when reading any text. To just think about how misogynist, or racist, or elitist or whatever, he/she was and how that's expressed in their writing. It's insane. Friere was a Marxist who wanted to turn schools into little factories that produce functionally illiterate communists, and he succeeded.
I've thought recently of becoming a teacher, however doubtless I would not last long. I am far, far from woke and further from keeping my mouth shut about it. I feel for parents, most of whom have no idea what poison their children are drinking, rather than from the fountain of knowledge.
@@The_Burning_Sensation I am a strong proponent of the Death of the Author, i.e. a work should be primarily judged and interpreted on its own merit without references to the author. Interpretations in school, OTOH, seem to focus a lot on "what the author is saying", which drives me nuts.
@@findJLF Unfortunately I can go on for hours about what has happened to each subject, at least here in Australia. Science - Somehow in school we learn the theories, then do experiments to simply confirm the idea, rather tham actually doing the scientific method properly. You know, present an observation, design and experiment, hypothesis, test, interpret etc. etc. I think it would be more fruitful to present observations and do experiments then get students to discuss the results, THEN the theories done by scientists with better equipment and more time than they did. Maths - Maths is, to put it mildly, a s**tshow. Most students follow formulae to a T, with very little understanding of what they are doing. Only a few still shows that mathematical mind. Humanities (social studies) - I don't have much experience in this, but I'm a little appalled at how simplistic they present some things e.g. they teach that the samurai follow a strict code of bushido, where in reality we know that the 'code' was made up by some rose-tinted old fart during peace times who lament that the "good old days" (the one he didn't live in, fyi) was so much better.
@@The_Burning_Sensation This would probably explain why my daughter was assigned to read "The Hunger Games" in 5th grade instead of, say, "Tom Sawyer" or "Where the Red Fern Grows," which was standard reading in my day (the ancient 80s) but, like most classics, also penned by white males. They won't even assign the female-authored "To Kill a Mockingbird," probably because the white protagonist is so admired by the black community. Atticus believed in equality, which became every sane person's ideal until Trump got elected. Blacks started to do well by their own merit under his administration. Unemployment numbers dropped to a record low. Dems panicked at the prospect of losing their pet voters, doubled down on the racist narrative. Now it's about EQUITY, now that they've realized the threat to their power equality presents. The Woke Era, for however long it lasts, will be looked upon as a dark age in American history.
Great rant! I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said. I have a 23 year career in animation, a soft business, but prior to that I spent 10 years working in labor, construction, warehouses, and factories, hard businesses. I always felt those ten years of labor work were my strongest asset in animation. It gave me a very blue collar approach to my animation work, whereas others have a more 'artsy' approach. I've been lucky to avoid the woke nonsense in my career. I have somehow managed to work on productions and for studios that are sooooo not woke. We often joke that we would get fired if we worked for any other studio for the stuff we joke about. My wife is a black woman from the Caribbean, I am a white dude from Toronto, and we always say to each other we would not survive amongst the public or in a normal line of work because we would say something not woke and offensive. We make fun of all the interracial couples on tv because it's gotten so ridiculous... even though we are an interracial couple ourselves. We make jokes about every race, culture, ethnicity, and sexual orientation on the planet, no holds barred, including our own cultures and races. You can't say that shit out in public anymore. But we understand that we can make those jokes because we are not racist, or xenophobic, or homophobic. Everyone is equal, therefore everyone gets equally joked on. I am Croatian. My wife always jokes "What do your people have against vowels?" She says Croatian words sound like Klingon. And I joke that Caribbeans have color names for everything. "What's this flower called 'Jump Up And Kiss Me?'.... that's actually a real one. So when joke with her I make up ridiculous names for common things. The microwave is the 'spinny spinner food heater upper'. That kind of thing.
Remember when you could be genuinely interested in other people's cultures without being afraid of being considered xenophobic/racist/huwhite supremacist just for asking? I miss those days.
My wife and I do the same thing! I'm Irish and she's Italian and the usual digs are me making fun of her for talking with her hands or being a "walking encyclopedia of emotions" then she'll basically make some jokes about Irish food not having salt because that would make it too spicy or my general emotional repression lol

I work in Hollywood and I 100% agree! Thanks for saying all this! Thankfully, there are still paradigm shifting events that occur outside the workforce, which can (and do) knock people out of their hypnosis. One that seemed to "red pill" quite a few of my coworkers was the Me Too movement. Left wing friends of mine are afraid to date anyone for fear of some false accusation coming their way. Jordan Peterson and Joe Rogan have been effective as well.
What I find most distressing about Hollywoke is the extraordinary waste of financial and human resources. It is to bad that fear has control over so many creative talents. The world deserves better. It needs better. Especially stories.
@@RockBrentwood for some things yes you are already there, but the biggest problem you seem to forget is the marketing/brand awareness to let people know you made this cool whatever so you can make your money, which trips up 99% of creators and which is the biggest trump card of the mainstream industry. Thank you for mentioning how most Religiously affiliated groups endorse Forgiveness whereas the woke insists on exclusion for those who did wrong. For people claiming to be inclusive, they sure don't invite those who challenge their own beliefs.
Taika Waititi “We’re going to destroy your mythos”. I can’t imagine a frame of mind that wants to take over something someone else loves, and take pleasure from turning it in to being a completely different thing. George Lucas and Spielberg couldn’t do a Bond movie, and created Indiana Jones. Another amazing character. There’s no excuse to not create something new.
Spielberg was considering doing a Bond film and Lucas talked him into directing Raiders instead. Part of the reason they picked Sean Connery to play Indy's dad in Last Crusade.
I appreciate this take. I am reminded of a friend of mine who's parents always let him win at Monopoly. They had a ton of house rules they played by that made it easier for him Naturally, this kid grew up thinking he was incredible at Monopoly. He never had to cope with loss, and he thought the house rules that were played by his family were unquestionable and tried to use them with his friends. I'll never forget that titanic-scaled level of fury and disbelief after losing the very first game the first time he played with us. Dice thrown, board flipped, pieces chewed on and stomped on. Screaming, cursing, blame-assigning. He had absolutely zero coping mechanisms for this situation. It probably didn't help we rubbed it in his face afterwards for whining.
Please never stop producing these video essays. You’re an excellent presenter and your opinions are compelling. We definitely need your voice to help counteract all the woke nonsense on this platform these days.
This is the first time I've listened and watched Call me Chato. You have said what I have been thinking for a long time about Hollywood and schools. You are the voice of reason! Keep talking! I have subscribed to your channel. 😊 Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I think it's not only that we don't teach kids to be creative, but also that we don't teach them the classics anymore. How are they to understand art and artisanship, if they don't have the background to understand it? If you don't know about the Illiad or the Odyssey, how will you decode renaissance painting? If you don't know about renaissance paintings, how do you understand the modernist movement, etc.. If there is no common cultural foundation, a society will find it hard to have a discourse on anything. Instead it resorts to pure tribalism, as seen in the west today. And as long as education is in the hand of ideologues, this won't change.
Thats why the bulldozer of false political indoctrination speeds now toward fantasy fandoms - becouse they are the last area where a big integrated group of people has their own culture of debate and their actual knowledge about real sources of their native culture, about the sedimentations of western culture. From neolithic age to comix age :)
While watching your video this quote came to mind "Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you." Friedrich Nietzsche Diversity in itself isn't inherently bad. But like bad food in a restaurant sooner or later people will stop coming to try what you have created. Things have gotten so bad that just the thought of Diversity is detested. Like you said Mr. Chato "They don't care about the property they themselves are working for.." which ultimately makes them the monster in the end.
They are further enhancing repulse towards minorities, which breeds racial discrimination at the least. I'm sure there are a lot of folks that deal with this trend by avoiding black folks, since they think all of them are members of BLM or are going to abuse victimization and woke speech. That's not true, but that's what woke entertainment is selling: black, asian, women and gay people are all a bunch of crybabies who can't deal with stuff like mature humans.
I grew up in a time when, during the summer, children left their house after breakfast and were gone all day as long as they were in before dark, all was great. We learned to handle conflict, play games, create fun and adventure all without the prying eyes of helicopter parents. We were never bored because we had the world to discover. My parents didn’t attend every sports event I participated in (They were busy providing me a comfortable home). Then, someone told the collective that this was too risky and now, kids are raised by minimum wage daycare workers who mediate their fun and entertain them. All extracurricular activities are mediated by adults who are there to soothe every ill. Parents are now friends. It’s no wonder these kids are trapped in their pupal stage.
I was a "latchkey" kid, everyone growing up when I did, late 70s/80s knew right from wrong. Sure winter came throw a few snowballs at cars and ran, same time get caught doing something would admit it, or face the belt which was extremely rare for my father, just his voice today if I am screwing with their dog and he gets too revved up my father screams my name and I feel like that 10 year old again.... and im pushing 50 now lol. We all looked out for each other then, neighbors did, your friends parents were like your 2nd parents, and always was told stay away from a guy in a white van ;)
I had that kind of freedom when I was growing up and now when i tried to give that kind of freedom to my children, people would judge my ability to raise my children. "You let your kids go bike riding around the town? Shame on you!" and other crap like that.
I remember a Hispanic Literature professor at city college in 1997 that tried to force the class to attend La Raza meetings, bonus points if you attended a protest. He felt you couldn't understand the history of a culture without understanding it's plight in modern day. Dropped that and took a women in literature course instead which wasn't full of feminist manifesto but honest discussion of women's portrayal in a variety of literature written by both men and women.
The efect of SJW on education cannot be understated. I'm a volenteer instructor with Habitat for Humanity. The people that volunteer run 16 to 90...but most are high school juniors, seniors, and college aged. When they start to learn actual practical skills, hear "facts", learn civics, or hear a conservative view point they are astounded. They genuinely have never been exposed to any of it. And they soak it up like sponges. I get to spend a few days, maybe a week with them. I would keep them for the summer to undo the damage that has been done to them if i could.
I remember all the civics classes. home economics. a regular economics class, woodshop auto shop, etc, and these were REQUIRED courses to graduate. We even had a class called "Life Skills" we learned time management and how to make a budget etc. I honestly did not know that these kinds of classes were gone. I remember the mock election. I was VP. and I won my debate but lost the election over lunch policies. lol! Please keep telling the truth.
For all the "Woke" posturing, when the Chinese Government told WB to remove the LGBTQ+ content from the movie Fantastic Beasts 3, they complied to gain access to that market.
The chinese are already "communists", so there's no need for racial marxism or intersectional feminism there. I doubt they even see it as hypocritical.
I was at the home of a former high school sweetheart and she was complaining about her 27 year old son not working for 3 years and spending all his time on the computer playing games and wanting to tear down statues etc etc etc. Later on he came downstairs(his wakey wakey time is 1pm) and preceded to watch a movie. I asked him a question: how did he coalesce his love for movies with the reality being that the father of cinema, D.W. Griffith, was a racist? I explained who D.W. Griffith was and how he was responsible for much of the "language" used even today by modern filmmakers(even though they had his name removed from that DGA award). I told him that whether he liked it or not, ole DW's spirit was alive and well in practically every frame he watched. He was having none of it. I never received an answer, except he and the others would make things "right". When I mentioned the ancient Greeks and Romans and how much of our own language owes a debt to these slave owners. I asked him if he was going to stop talking? Sadly...no.
Just talking to a friend of mine earlier this week. This goes far beyond entertainment. Politics and education are being fully infiltrated by this ideology but at least it seems it’s out in the open for everyone to see.
Its on the open because remote learning due to covid exposed a lot of this but more importantly they are this confident that there is nothing we can do to stop this so why not brag about it? The San Francisco Gay Men's choir did just that last year when they made a video bagging about how they were going to make normal kids gay and there was nothing parents could do to stop them.
"equitable representation" to whom and for what? We (should) cast entertainment based on the needs of the story, not the DNA strands of the actors nor their country of origin nor their sexual preference, outside of them preferring the casting director over the producer. ;)
I agree with your assessment that "they are at war with us" though we did not make war with them. I've recently come to the conclusion that there is, after all, no negotiation with them.
It is amazing that the seven deadly sins are now the stated goals of these people. Lust: Everything is sexualized and every perversion is celebrated. Gluttony: Obsessive eating is the norm and body positivity removed all shame from being overweight. Greed: No amount is power is ever enough for those people, not even if they had total control. Sloth: Real work is looked down upon and full-time twittering is a virtue. Wrath: Hatred of everything that others cherish and total destruction of old values. Envy: Hard work is seen oppressive and the rich are to be brought down. Pride: They do not see and can not conceive anything wrong in anything they do. Their whole world is upside down...
The mental image you gave me when you mentioned a wad of cash in Paramount's g-string will never be erased and will forever remain burned into my brain. Thanks a lot.
The commonality that I have noticed about people with this mindset, is that they're proactively offended on other peoples' behalf. I fist really noticed this when all the Speedy Gonzales cartoons were taken off the air, and the explanation was "they're insensitive towards Mexicans". Now I obviously don't know every Mexican, but the ones I knew who were aware of Speedy Gonzales were universally fans, and when asked they would explain that Speedy was the hero, and they were happy to have a Mexican character that was outwitting his foes. So, who was complaining that this was insentive? Turns out, it was mostly not Mexicans. It was, rather, the people who would eventually become the "woke crowd" we know now.
@@TheMyrmo Cause we're Mexican we don't care about representation. Mexicans love Spider-Man and Goku we can't identify with either character race wise but we can identify with who they are - Lino
Thank you for your articulate commentary. I maintain that my (millennial) generation was the last to get a proper public school education. As a HS student and a girl, I wanted to take shop. Was denied (no facilities for a female), so took typing instead.
My take is that they destroy our beloved movies and T.V. shows as a form of torture. They gleefully enjoy when we post on social media or make a videos on how much we hate what they did and how much it bothered us. I firmly believe if we would totally ignore them by not only staying quiet about how we feel but not even acknowledging that they are actively ruining or releasing these shows and movies they would die on the vine in two to three years. I don't care if they make the next Citizen Kane, don't acknowledge that they even made the film let alone watch or complain about it.
One could make the argument that the "live and let live" philosophy helped get us to this point. I say that because I've been that way for years being a Libertarian type. All one has to do is look at the gay marriage issue: Back in the mid 00's we were told "what two people do in their bedroom is their own business." Many like me gave in on the issue because there is some merit to the argument. What two people do is not my business......until they made it my business and now sexuality and gender idelogy have been built into a church that we are told we must worship at, and if we don't....well we know the language by this time. My point is, ignoring the problem doesn't make it go away, and I think he touched on that a bit in this excellent video. Many of these shows are failures by any metric, but they keep making them because they hate you.
Well said on just about every point. I work in IT and have for 25 years - the infection is so bad there that HR will tell us that meritocracy is a bad thing because of subconscious bias (so, no more performance reviews then, right? Or do you decide them based on identity categorization?). We used to go after people with advanced degrees to hire them, but now we AVOID that - we have 20-25 year olds who have a mentality that “doing your best” is what matters, not creating something good. I just don’t know what the answer is, but the problem is obvious and inescapable. (From my avatar you might guess I’m also a lifelong nerd, have been reading comics and science fiction since the 70’s - but I haven’t bought a new comic in 5+ years….)
ROM Space Knight!!! Stopped collecting current comics as well. I now collect Omnibuses and deluxe hardcovers of the comics I read during the early 80s and have been scooping some 70s stuff (Tomb of Dracula, Werewolf By Night).
I said it already and I mean it: It started with the Frankfurt School, Michel Foucault and the neomarxists. Their stick about "Intolerance against the Intolerant" and "inherent biases viewpoints" let to this era of de-constructivism and rage. It justified the destruction of the old, in their mind tainted, Idols and ideas. For those who have the time and stamina, I would recommend getting into the subject (as nasty as it is).
You mean Repressive Tolerance. Popper's Paradox of Tolerance is a set of words to live by - what Popper said was "If you are truly tolerant, you must not tolerate repressive tolerance." Marxists are just lying as usual.
@@KopperNeoman Good catch! But you should be careful with this statement. It can, and was, used as a battle cry of the SJWs. They have the semantic skills, lack of self awareness and zeal to do so.
All of this makes me very sad. I have absolutely no problem with diversity and equitable representation, what really concerns me is corporate pandering, virtue signalling and a culture not of justice, but of retribution.
On the topic of those older classes, I always bring those up when those idiots that complain that school never does stuff like teach you how to vote or do your taxes. My old response was "That's what you had parents for" but then I found out about Civics, which was basically a whole class about how our country works. That was your class for that. Now it, geography, and history are all crammed into so-called "Social Studies" and not one of those classes gets enough time to them. Blaming the lack of such schooling early in life is definitely something I haven't thought of before. It makes sense. I remember being on Pinterest not too long ago and finding a screencap of some conversation on another site and they were complaining about how "they never teach you about these nice sounding or goofy things things in history class, all they ever teach you about is wars." My response was simply that they don't teach you about those other things because they aren't history, all the examples listed fell under the topic of trivia. The reason they teach wars is because wars change borders, political landscapes, culture, systems of government. Wars change the world and are history and very few other things do that as well. The odd tech or medical breakthrough or major disease can do it too, but seldom does basically anything else and they did not understand that. There's an interesting juxtaposition to this too. I've noticed a huge upswing in demonizing major political and cultural figures. For example there's no end to people talking about many lurid details of Gandhi's life. Even MLK is being targeted, which is astounding. So they don't like the sanitized, progressive, and aspirational tellings of historical figures, but they also want a sanitized and pointless depiction of history. I don't even know what to do with that.
I saw a documentary years ago that revolved around the life of a pair of Toucan birds and the growth of their babies, from egg to leaving the nest. The thing was, this tree with their nest in it, it was about a million miles high. The tree was shown through several establishing angles, and each angle made you more terrified as you saw just how high up these birds were. It was very interesting watching the babies grow, and then, it was finally time, for the young birds to leave the nest. So the younglings line up, go to the edge of the nest, can't see the ground, and they jump. All except for one. He was not going and so they left him, and he was alone. As the documentary progressed it went back to the young Toucan occasionally and spoke of the ill wisdom of not leaving the nest. And that was because of the bees. After being informed of this ominous portent the camera shortly thereafter goes back to the young Toucan, and now there are a few bees seen around the opening to the nest and inside the nest itself. But young Toucan fights back and uses his large beak to great effect, as almost every 'clomp' is a kill. It was a hell of a battle. The documentary then stays with the Toucan younglings and their parents for quite awhile, showing how the young birds are taught things by their parents, but then they finally go back to the young Toucan. Your first sight of this guy and he dead as a hammer. He is laid out, prone, and never to rise again. Those bees went in there and brought about a zillion stingers with them. This will be the eventual fate of the Hollywood woke lefties.
WOW!! I remember that documentary from years back. At some point a total collapse will have to happen to correct course. These ideologues have infested every aspect of our culture. We are in easy times which breed weak men. Weak men produce hard times. We are seeing the hard times coming.
I want to thank you very much for your videos. As a writer of books, short stories, screen plays, content for RPG games, and just whatever floats my creative boat I once swore to never publish and watch my work ruined as different entities jockeyed to take control of my creations after dealing with one such that convinced me such was not in my best interest. I feel reaffirmed as I watch the destruction and now also can add your insight to my affirmation of my decision to never publish. Thanks again.
Posting at the half way mark. So far, this is the calmest rant on youtube. :D I was in grade 9 in 1979. In English class that year, a student teacher came in for a week or however long. She was what we'd now consider an SJW, and wanted us to be little activists. Our assignment was to send a letter to the government protesting about something. I refused, as even then, I didn't like being used by ideologues, although I obviously didn't know the term then.
OK finished now. Still the calmest rant ever. :D Going back to the comment above, I suspect they (sjws) infiltrated teacher training very early, then those graduates went on to spread the virus, I mean cult, I mean, ideology themselves to their students. Now a friends 10 year old son is told in class that the teacher won't discipline black kids because "white people used to have slaves". I don't see hwo teaching kids to treat each other differently based on skin colour could possibly go wrong. (yikes) Paul, I read a bit about Bill 67. Is that what you're talking about?
It's more than SJW propaganda; it has morphed into self-hate and celebrating self-flagellation among the students. My son goes to an elite college, and it is a constant drumbeat of black issues. Each year the incoming freshman class is assigned a book to read. For six years running; the selection is without fail a black writer and their story, for example, in the book My Brother Moochie. These high achieving students were busy in high school taking IB courses and plotting a path that did not include smoking weed and tossing gang signs all afternoon. Yet somehow, the school invalidates the young students' experiences, placing street life's narrative above the students' value to society. They are in a constant state of apologizing for their place in the world. " My success does not depend on your failure." It is the response I have taught my son to these priests of Wokeism.
Did you know that the whole 'Racism = Power + Privilege' thing was created in the 70s? Even back then the activists, who were utterly convinced that white people were all racists, knew that without redefining racism, they would be (rightfully) seen as racists by most people. It started with workshops for the workplace and eventually seeped into woke academics and academia. (So anyone who claims the P+P=R thing originally comes from academia is either a victim of propaganda or a willful perpetrator of it.)
@@613harbinger316 In my twenties I ran into people who thought only white people could be racist. It was buzzing around the precursors to the internet, so yeah I believe it. What are workshops for the workplace?
@@shinian6523 Like those seminars held by companies to fight racism or promote more synergy in the workplace. They started this crap early. You are "right on". One solution, perhaps, is for parents to step up and assume an active role in the growth and education of their children. The includes their formal schooling. And, on yes, no social media until they are at least 18!!!!!
Paul, all of this "wokeness" will eventually butt up against reality. Woe be unto them, the end won't be pleasant. What they will face is starvation, as well as a complete breakdown of society and all of the structures their elders had created. There is already a trucker shortage, a mechanic shortage, an airline pilot shortage, a shortage of medical doctors (including surgeons) and the list goes on and on. Oh yea, a buttload of bankrupt movie studios too, in other words, no more movies or shows. Let chaos reign. Thank you for your rants!
Wokeness has already butted up against reality and people bend over backwards to accommodate it out of fear of conflict with literal crazy people. Wokies have nothing to lose and the people they're threatening have a lot to lose so most people just give ground to avoid a fight. Problem is that when the pendulum swings the other way in response, the wokies will spend the next half century crying about how they've been victimized. That's how irrational these people are. We need a national divorce in America as well as a parallel economy. It's the only way. Wokies are insane and there's no living amongst them if you want a sustainable, competitive society.
I have to disagree on the ongoing shortage of medical doctors and EMTs, at least in the US. The liability insurance premiums (thanks to the litigation lottery and straight up hush money) they have to fork over are insane. And, that's before factoring what it takes for a medical practice to stay financially viable in the face of insurers turning the screws on payments and unending paperwork. From what I've heard, long-haul truckers aren't faring much better. They'll still have a better life than the influencer crabs still crawling around in their self-esteem boosting buckets.
I agree that this trend cannot continue, but it will not be the shortage of skills which will cause the issue. I feel it will be at a nation state level, with productivity dropping in countries which do not endorse meritocracy and an increase in wealth and power in those which do. The entire developing world, including China and India, encourages and rewards meritocracy. It is only, seemingly, in the developed west this does not occur.
This is probably one of the most thorough and comprehensive expositions on this topic that i've ever seen. I could never understand the intense backlash from show creators when there was any complaint that the story was now much worse because it deviated from the source content. Keep up the good work!
Geek culture was easy to defeat in detail. I'm well old enough to know geek culture when it was mostly social pariahs. People, okay males mostly, within it simply were not able to join other social groups. This created easy-ish entry 'SJWs'. Social pariahs are generally overly accommodating to new people showing interest in them. Being so often excluded meant they didn't want to exclude. Being socially inept often allowed them to be easily manipulated. Since sci-fi and fantasy were largely the domain of social pariahs, other social groups ignore, sneered or outright bullied these groups. Which meant any internal changes brought through 'SJWs' were ignored. Or, worse yet, lauded as a way to justify picking on the socially inept yet again.
I saw this happen to a geek website I've frequented for over 10 years. It was a fun, very geeky site that catered to males (as most of these geeky stuff does). But at some point, got taken over by SJW's who infiltrated the admin group and started hammering threads they deemed "problematic". It's so bad now they just mass delete any post they don't like and have driven away the fans that used it most. They also realized they could get companies to pay for ads and now a big money-making enterprise. By driving away the original fans they don't have to worry about those "toxic" people upsetting the advertisers.
Geek culture was easy to defeat in detail because many of the geeks (myself included) were so desperate for ANY attention at all that even bad attention was better than no attention. And, like any other kind of abuser and predator, they saw weakness and exploited it to the hilt. I know that most of the geek hobbies that I love-role playing, SF and fantasy, video games-if you don't know where to look for it, you're going to get the homogenized wallpaper paste that is the only product that the Social Justice Zealot can create and "share." Most conventions that were pretty decent back in the day now have speech codes and "diversity" requirements. And God help you if you try to point out things like how men and women are different, that there ARE some cultures that should die, that there are monsters out there wearing human flesh. (Don't ask me about furry fandom, don't...it changed in ways that are terrifying to look at from the outside and disturbingly creepy.)
@@project9701 I know you don't want me to, but I just have to ask: Where there a time when the furries weren't pervy? I'm getting old and I don't remember them not being so. But they used to act better in public.
I learned to read in the first grade at age 5, back in 1952, And I have never stopped. When our parents were given and older set of encyclopedias my brother and I read them cover to cover, every volume. That gift of reading saved my sanity I am sure. I feel very sorry for today's kids who cannot read the street signs along the streets in their home town.
I already left a comment but I just have to say: This is one of the best videos I've seen on this topic and I will share the hell out of it in my small social circle. Extremely to the point, insightful, and succinct. I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this one, thanks Chato.
I wish a new Hollywood alternative would appear. Seems like a great time for new independent studios to appear and just knock it out of the park. I remain hopeful for the future , just not within Hollywood.
Look to Japan. Lately I've been finding that I'm going to anime more and more often, and disliking what's coming out of Hollywood more and more as well.
Look up the DUST channel on youtube, all science fiction. Lots of nice work (and some junk) by people at the beginning of their careers, and sometimes mainstream actors. Some is woke, but most is not. Most are short due budgetary constraints. The future is not hollywood, its people slowly discovering other places, some of which already exist and are growing.
I have novelist friends who were rejected by traditional publishers because their work wasn't "diverse" enough, so they published independently and are making a very good living. The cost of film and music production and distribution has been plummeting for years thanks to technological advances. This is going to be the Golden Age of independent creators, not a new Dark Age.
The SJW investation into entertainment reminds me of the Soviet farm collectivisation of the 1930s and later in Mao's China. This "intersectionalism" back then was on percieved economic lines where "rich" peasants were pursecuted and their lands taken away from them. It lead to the starvation and death of 10's of millions of people driven by incompetent idealoges. It's the same grab for power by the incompetent, this time it's experienced "white men" - directors, writers etc. that have had their properties ripped from them. Again millions starve - for entertainment. Keep the woke away from real power....
I am Asian, every time in my company meeting, sensitivity seminar, human resource presentation, the word inclusive and diversity just make me want to puke. it makes me feel like i was hired not for my skills, talent, and hard work, but because my ethnicity by birth was the more important, I frequently get pulled into company photos, recruitment events, and presentations, I appreciate the exposure and opportunities, but i just want to do a great job and be rewarded for doing a great job. same as everyone else, not less, and not more.

I'm about your age, and growing up it was a time of rockets and real progress. It was exciting. We also had parents and grandparents who survived the Depression and the war. Yeah, we also had an air raid siren in our little town 50 miles north of the US border that got tested once every summer, just to remind us of the Cold War. And I started working when I was 11 and learned the value of a dollar. Summary: I think when we get too affluent we forget what real struggle is anymore, so we invent problems. We are not built for good times.
It is interesting that by describing sjw culture you have accurately described the character of the biblical satan. Accuser, liar, pride, jealousy and destructive. It would seem that 'his' spirit is alive and well. Great video.

One what I add, in past education of what you say be more practical, is down to one simple idea, the idea to think for yourself. Many intellectuals now hate that, infact the intellectuals envy the self thinking being, as it doesn't dwell on the other and the We, so like SJWs, the collective ideology of now called Wokeism, is simply following the same ideas that Karl Marx follow, all lead back to plato himself. This be shocking to some, the main evils in entertainment, media, education and politics today, all lead to one idea what would be the downfall of man, Altruism.
Love your videos Chato and glad you're joining that club (including myself) of people who hate our passion of nerdism, being ruined by idiots who think they have the power to control the narrative.
That was a very thoughtful explanation of our current dilemma here in the west. As an "aged" millennial I remember the start of participation trophies. I thought they were dumb because I know I got a trophy for failing and that was stupid. But I also remember parents giving themselves a backache from patting themselves on the back doing it so we would have "high self-esteem". In college, I developed a theory on overly educated people that it as only now starting to be voiced by others. It takes an incredible education to be an incredible idiot. I think this is starting to be seen more and more these days. As we have elevated people with no real-world experience to places of high authority it's becoming evident that what is going on is nothing more than pseudoscience on society as a whole. These are the people who couldn't function in the real world, were smart enough to get educated, but actually hated everyone else because they just didn't get how smart they were. They now run the tech industry and are the former hipsters turned new professors at UC Berkley while running a side consulting company for diverse hires. They seem to hate nerds, blue-collar workers, and anyone who doesn't obey or love them. It's a society of narcissists who as it has shown can only self insert themselves into things because they lack any imagination because they can only think of themselves.
I go back and remember the outcry that people had about not liking the style of Voyager and even more so Enterprise, and it makes me laugh in a sad way because now those nitpicks people had about the format changes of those series seem like nothing by comparison to STD & Picard. They're viewed with so much more appreciation now than they were when they were first airing. But, I know that I and many other Star Trek fans would kill for series like them being made today. Star Trek broke new ground when it actually meant something and was difficult to do. STD makes it seem like a woman in command is this huge monumental thing and all I can think of is "Uh, you're 20-60 years too late".
On a similar note..... I'm honestly shocked to listen to what I considered to be "sub-par" music in my youth, and now realizing that in comparison to modern music, all of these songs and bands seem like works of art.....
Fortunately, if you look hard enough, you can still find nerds to discuss Trek with who do still think in those terms. I know plenty of Trek fans who, while being quite liberal and anti-conservative, want nothing to do with the recent shows. They still don't even like the Abrams movies. And they're content to pick apart those first five shows for everything under the sun. The hilarity is that even liberal Trekkies and Trekkers aren't always on board with the woke angle. And what's more, woke politics aside, the new shows aren't even stimulating sci-fi. There's folks still nitpicking the minutia of how changeling biology should work, while the new writers are a bunch of idiot kids with their magic glowing fungus multiverse network.
A show that once exemplified the highest aspirations of human potential, helping to reassure us that, for all our flaws and struggles, there's still something inherently good and noble about the human spirit, now acts as a dark, depressing mirror for all the worst aspects of whatever passes for modern culture. Farewell, Star Trek. Near the beginning 'The human soul has a dark corner, the universe, which is its reflection.' Near the ending ‘The universe has a dark corner, the human soul, which is its reflection.’ A Space for Reflection.
I have a friend who is a writer for both television and a few stage plays. He complains that he can hardly sell anything now because they want characters changed, motivations changed, and all other stuff not in service to the story. He said he is often critiqued by kids who have never even read Moby Dick or Shakesphere. His belief is that movies and TV are going downhill because the current writers are not well versed in literature and how to craft a compelling narrative. Shoot, I grew up on a farm in Arkansas and we had to read Moby Dick in the 5th grade. I grew up reading books from the library and we only had one TV that was black and white only. The only shows I can remember watching back then were Star Trek (TOS), Time Tunnel, Lost in Space, and the Beverly Hillbillies. Other than that, my Dad watched football and that was it. The good old days.
As a lifelong Trek fan/expert, watching tas first run and tos 7 days a week through the 70s, 80s then tng, Ds9, Voy, ent, the stupendous stupidity of Discovery is astounding to behold. Really bad plots, dialog, science, sci-fi, the list goes on. Yes, every Trek series has bad episodes, bad acting moments, flawed premises occasionally, random plot holes, etc But the utterly consistent badness of Discovery is truly history making on a Plan 9 From Outer Space scale

I don't disagree with your overall summation but I have a different theory as to where it started. I feel you are partially correct in the Genesis of where we are but have missed the largely unspoken Insidious influence of social networking. Social networking eliminates the need to speak to people who don't believe as you do. It is a simple matter to find a group that reinforces your own beliefs and every person of every political persuasion now has this ability. For every group that exists there is now an insular bubble of thought and dogma that doesn't even need to be challenged anymore because you always have a circle of people to reinforce against. Gone are the spirited debates in high school and college stemming from divergent upbringing and disparate outlooks on the world, it is now replaced with a thousand little tribes simply talking to themselves and creating feedback loops that cause us to end up where we are. This is as far as I want to go as far as UA-cam comment manifestos are concerned, I would love to be able to have a conversation about this topic but it always gets derailed by competing dogma bubbles.
Excellent point about social media bubbles. I distinctly remember finding woke extremists almost exclusively confined to Tumblr years ago, only to have them take over the platform entirely before starting to leak out into the broader culture around 2012/13
I's more than autonomy or being independent of criticism. Social Media is largely anonymous, unless you share personal information or get doxed. That anonymity allows for Ethugery. Ethugs talk shit online they would never say in person because they would get hurt.
I feel you are raising a good point; however this type of social event has occurred in the past so is probably not the cause. But I suspect social media has influenced how this trend is progressing in this case.

It was old-style woke when the word meant something good.
Yes, what you just said.
Dude, you need to come on Open Bar!
Did he ever respond? that would be a fascinating conversation.
Thomas Sowell: Envy was once considered to be one of the seven deadly sins before it became one of the most admired virtues under its new name, 'social justice'.
Don't forget Pride! Now a virtue instead of a sin.
ya, this guys is not envious at all... LOL!

I am from the Caribbean & I have those flowers lol There's others too like Lipstick Bixa and The Flaming Sword plant lmao
I like being part of the counter-woke-culture.

This is the first time I've listened and watched Call me Chato. You have said what I have been thinking for a long time about Hollywood and schools. You are the voice of reason! Keep talking! I have subscribed to your channel. 😊
Thank you! Thank you!
Brilliant comment 🙏
Thats why the bulldozer of false political indoctrination speeds now toward fantasy fandoms - becouse they are the last area where a big integrated group of people has their own culture of debate and their actual knowledge about real sources of their native culture, about the sedimentations of western culture. From neolithic age to comix age :)
This was an amazing rant! Thanks, I needed that. I work in the industry as well.
While watching your video this quote came to mind
"Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you."
Friedrich Nietzsche
Diversity in itself isn't inherently bad. But like bad food in a restaurant sooner or later people will stop coming to try what you have created. Things have gotten so bad that just the thought of Diversity is detested. Like you said Mr. Chato "They don't care about the property they themselves are working for.." which ultimately makes them the monster in the end.
It isn't even diversity, not really. It's giving voices to those 'diverse' people who parrot their ideology.
Rorschach gazed into the abyss, and the abyss p$%#@d its pants.
Diversity has no intrinsic value.
That is the cultural pendulum of overcorrection. An interesting phenomenon for sure.
The smart kids see through all of this, my daughter does and fearlessly challenges her teachers.
I warned both my kids when they were very young that I wasn't their friend. Now that they are 23 and 29 I have earned their friendship.

It's out in the open because the people who perpetuate it aren't smart enough to hide it. Thank God for that!
For sure and once you see it you can’t unsee it
YEAH to be clear it is NOT just politics, education and films. BEING in business I can tell you it is EVERYTHING!

This. Best advice ever. Don’t give the childish tantrum any wind.
True, that. Our demoralization is the REAL product, here..!
NAH they will keep getting more WOKE. The people they want to enrage the most are their own!

Oh my God! You tied this up into a neat package, but wow, it seems hopeless!
Look up Peter Hitchens, his speech on essentially giving up on society is even more so depressing.
Popper's Paradox of Tolerance is a set of words to live by - what Popper said was "If you are truly tolerant, you must not tolerate repressive tolerance."

I fully concur.
I teach math at schools, and they assume everything is handled to them. Most of them are unable to reach a goal through hard work.
All of this makes me very sad. I have absolutely no problem with diversity and equitable representation, what really concerns me is corporate pandering, virtue signalling and a culture not of justice, but of retribution.
In America, justice had become retributive.
Equitable representation is communism by another name, its the opposite of a meritocracy and will ultimately destroy the West
So well said - succinct and spot on!! I feel the same way - why can't we have some more diversity without throwing everything in the fire???
Discriminating in favour of a particular race or gender is immoral.
Well, you kinda skirted around the subject, but now you’ve addressed it head-on. I agree with every word.
As a Happy Denizens I enjoy your take on all of it so very very much. Be seeing you. -6

Posting at the half way mark. So far, this is the calmest rant on youtube. :D
I was in grade 9 in 1979.
Going back to the comment above, I suspect they (sjws) infiltrated teacher training very early, then those graduates went on to spread the virus, I mean cult, I mean, ideology themselves to their students. Now a friends 10 year old son is told in class that the teacher won't discipline black kids because "white people used to have slaves". I don't see hwo teaching kids to treat each other differently based on skin colour could possibly go wrong. (yikes)
Paul, I read a bit about Bill 67.

Not so sure anymore; I'm thinking the house of cards might eventually collapse, but it will be a societal collapse and take all of us down with it.

100%
That's a genius-level analysis. I'd never thought of it that way. While reading your comment, I thought, 'That makes perfect sense!'. Thanks for that.

The SJW investation into entertainment reminds me of the Soviet farm collectivisation of the 1930s and later in Mao's China. This "intersectionalism" back then was on percieved economic lines where "rich" peasants were pursecuted and their lands taken away from them. It lead to the starvation and death of 10's of millions of people driven by incompetent idealoges. it makes me feel like i was hired not for my skills, talent, and hard work, but because my ethnicity by birth was the more important,
I frequently get pulled into company photos, recruitment events, and presentations, I appreciate the exposure and opportunities,
but i just want to do a great job and be rewarded for doing a great job. same as everyone else, not less, and not more.
That is a very powerful statement. This has all gone too far.
Love the channel, thanks for explaining.
1984 graduation from Highschool, into USMC 9 days later, the best Marine got the recognition, but we were all Marines together. His or her background, religion, or anything else, didn't matter a bit. What a world we live in now.
OMG egalitarianism? How dare you? Thanks btw.
@@CallMeChato wish I could buy you a beer. Love the channel.
@@blackdog542 I would enjoy that.
I can't think of anything more antithetical to the "Arts" than Wokeism or as I like to call it, Stalinism. And thank you for bringing this topic front and center, it really is important to talk about (the elephant in the room as it were). Oh how I miss the quality TV shows designed to entertain and provide an escape from a hard days work. How did we go from Stephen J.Cannel, Frank Lupo and Glen A. Larson, to the copy cat and revisionist shit of today. This must surely be a sign of the impending rapture.
Love the channel and your presentation. We’re not far behind the US woke wave in the UK, but slowly we’re turning things around.
Are we? What makes you say that? I feel like we’re just walking blindly into it. But I’d genuinely like to hear why you think we’re turning it around - please, relieve my sense of growing despair!
that is fucking awesome. Thank You.

The clarity and succinctness of your message and your voice is refreshing.
Ontario high school teacher. There’s a lot to a great deal of what you say. Counterpoint: like with religion, many, many people talk the progressive talk without walking the walk, nor genuinely believing much of it deep down. And sometimes life makes people develop/grow up, despite everything. Sometimes nature wins and works, despite our best efforts.
Thanks!
We learned practical skills. I remember being on the tail end of all those great classes of woodworking and electronics. Sad times.
Oh spot on Chato, you are a Sage of our age! My sister was saying the other day: "Is it me or was it better living in the 20th Century as a opposed to the 21st Century?" I have to admit, things were less complicated back then. The storytelling was far better back then for sure. It seems the more this Century progresses the more we as humans seem to be losing our way! Food for thought for you.
I discovered you a month or two ago and I appreciate what you're doing.
Like yourself I watched TOS as it was first aired, my grandmother thought Nimoy was hot
I agree I don't see any incentive for any of this to get better anytime soon.
If there is any hope it's going to be in our radical use of social media, assuming the upcoming social credit system doesn't put an end to all that
Buckle up Bones
This is the perfect age for mavericks and polymaths to thrive even if it seems unlikely. Less insulated world views and outside the box thinking always outshines the predictable linear folks. 😎😎😎
That wasn't nearly as unhinged as you promised 😆 Great video; we always appreciate your astute observations. Also I agree with you that the school systems in America are so bad that we're going to have to homeschool our kids.
Hey, I had no idea this would get such a good reception.

That won’t happen the government would rather they die then be torn down
Great rant. I was very pleasantly surprised when I realized you were THAT Paul Chato. I watched Four on the Floor religiously in high school. Happy to have found your channel. Boot to the head! :)
OK BOOMER!
first world problems.
I was watching this going "Exactly!" about 50 times.
This is a great summary, particularly useful for bringing people up to speed if they're just waking up to the "wokeness"
Unfortunately we are living in interesting times

Seriously....best commentary channel on UA-cam. Articulate, funny, well thought out and more importantly, coming from EXPERIENCE. Well done sir!
Well said
I go back and remember the outcry that people had about not liking the style of Voyager and even more so Enterprise, and it makes me laugh in a sad way because now those nitpicks people had about the format changes of those series seem like nothing by comparison to STD & Picard.
I still nitpick Voyager and Enterprise. "STD & Picard", you say.... figments of your imagination. They don't exist in my world. Cheers!
What's funny we thought STNG was a little too politically correct or woke in today's termsdifferent
Near the beginning 'The human soul has a dark corner, the universe, which is its reflection.'
Near the ending ‘The universe has a dark corner, the human soul, which is its reflection.’
A Space for Reflection.
Yes, every Trek series has bad episodes, bad acting moments, flawed premises occasionally, random plot holes, etc
But the utterly consistent badness of Discovery is truly history making on a Plan 9 From Outer Space scale
Since TNG started playing I think it's all been downhill for Star Trek.
maybe the show should have just stopped... kids don't care about your boomer space cowboy show at all.
funny how Gerald Ford stumble once and that was al we heard about him. Joe has more than stumbled. We're living in weird times.

We out here in 'Frontier Land' wonder what is going on in the obvious Bubble of Hollywood. Thanks to you - in part - now we know.
I'm going to share this and recommend everyone watch. This and many if your vids are so insightful not only about Hollyweird but about society in general.
Loved your thought on this matter! Social media is “ I think” the bigger problem, and the start of where things have socially taken a steep decline.
"dogma bubbles"! Great description.
