The answers these people gave do not make any sense at all. It just tells me they didn't grow up here. The snobbiest area in the bay is by FAR Marin. BART doesn't run there, you have to pay a huge bridge toll when driving to even get up there - the only public transportation that goes up there is the Muni buses, and those run few and far between. I once had a girl call the police on me in San Rafael for working out in the gym where she was working the front desk, even though I had paid her 20 dollars to use the gym for the day because I wasn't a member there. After being searched spread eagle up against the wall by a cop in the gym, I asked her why she did it, and she said "you had a mean look on your face".

I met a lot of cool people, although I definitely felt like everyone I met was sheltered to a certain degree, but certainly some more than others. And there was definitely a whole sub-sect of people who were so wealthy that they were totally unaware of themselves. People who are that sheltered just aren't even aware when they do something that is potentially offensive to someone else, and if you try to make them aware of it, they will act as if you're the one offending them or victimizing them.
