Good analysis on Martinelli. I honestly think he has become our weakest link in attack. Whenever he has the ball his eyes are almost always on the ground. Very predictable in trying to dribble defenders and very bad decision taking. There are flashes of his talent here and there, but he just has to improve a lot.

Thate great analysis by Titi and spot on. There are so many players who play this way, especially when they play for England and pass sideways or go backwards. It seems gone are the days when a winger would take a on a defender but going down the flanks is such an effective way to attack.

I actually think we have a decent team except the offense. We're in serious need of a striker and a better winger. Martinelli and Havertz just isn't no where near good enough.
The lack of dribbling skills, close ball control when under pressure, inability to play through the middle, lack of pace are the major issues of this current squad. If the players had all the attributes I mentioned, everything Henry mentioned would be possible. Liverpool got these players, even Brighton, Forest, Fulham, Bournemouth have those players. Players that can change the problem would be. Ederson from Atlanta, any winger with dribbling skills, pace and power would help and a striker that can move, dribble and shoot would massively help. The reason our players get yellows for being extremely slow when taking free throws is because of lack of movement to create space to receive the ball and that is the result of lack of all the things I mentioned, they all get knocked off the ball easily during free throws so they get scared to receive it. Gabriel and Saliba take too long to pass the ball to midfield especially Gabriel. We pass the ball to full backs then teams surround the full backs and take possession away. We need full backs that can dribble past players and cut inside to disrupt opponents shape and pressing. I can go on and on, but what puzzles me the most is how highly paid professionals can’t see this problem in the squad.
Martinelli is not as good as Saka, but the bigger problem is the lack of support on the leftside. When he had Xhaka there and Martinelli was allowed to move in the middle, receive the ball there and take risks, his off the ball movement is really good and he also has a instinct for a goals inside the box. That's why he scored 15 goals a season, not even 2 years ago. The difference is, he seems to be clued to the sideline now, not allowed to move inside until somebody comes to pick up his position, which is not natural for him. When G.Jesus was at his best or Trossard played false 9 and Xhaka was there, they would change positions with him, allow him to make runs in the middle and also have the ability to slip passes through the lines. But Rice is a CB by trait so doesn't have the Vision for that, Merino is useless and Havertz as the striker never attacks the front post and always occupies Martinellis prefered space in the box, the back post. Just look at from where he scored most of his goals here: ua-cam.com/video/zkj2HMza5rc/v-deo.htmlsi=gUa10Jnjm2ODlKh3 And also look where and how he receives the ball compared to now. Nevertheless, Martinelli is a gooner and is working his socks off every game defensively, so I won't slate him to much.
true, cant always blame the player, sometimes its the surrounding players who make them look bad. but i still think martinelli looks super insecure in his decision making.
The first two and half min is all you need to know. Look when they pause with saka in possession. Everyone is sitting back making no runs we have havertz in the middle of the 4 defenders and 2 midfielders. 1v6. Odegaard the only passing option. Just nothing, no movement no open play everyone just static. I cannot understand it. Our two CM in rice and odegaard are simultaneously cdms in attack and cams in defence.
Its another issue that ypu point out also. Martinelli id a natural fast striker, runs in behind. Teta plays him as a wide playmaker. It makes no sense. Not utilising players strengths.
@R-D-1-g6h Perhaps Martinelli is waiting for one of his team mates to get into the correct position. At least Martinelli played energetically and had a couple of shots on target against Newcastle.

From there, Rice can cutback to centre
MA needs to put his arm around Martinelli and tell him that he is going to start him in the next six games and play him for the entire game and not sub him at any time. Tell him that he needs him to perform - take players on at every opportunity and don't worry about losing possession high up the pitch. He needs to give Martinelli confidence. Not keep benching him or or subbing him off after 70 minutes.
Arteta will do what he can for each player but he can't wave a magic wand and clear out the virus from the dressing room. Unfortunately we live in the real World and have to manage with what we have.
The year that we saw Martinelli doing what he was capable of was also due to Granit Xhaka being in the team. Declan Rice is not as creative and certainly does not have the range of passing Xhaka had. My point is that Xhaka links up well with Martinelli on the left and when the route is blocked, he has the range to immediately switch play to Saka etc. It must also be said that Zinchenko used to play on that side too which creates the overload on that left side when Zinny steps up into midfield which frees up Martinelli to run in behind. Cant really blame Martinelli that much too since Arteta has tweaked the tactics and personnel a lot since then. Martinelli also never had a Ben White or Timber on his side too to make those overlapping runs 😅

Obvious Martinelli is not that effective on the left side as much as Saka,,,,May Martinelli can play as CF than LW and i have noticed a lot of poor decisions that he makes and end losing the ball unnecessarily.
Tell Crystal Palace Arsenal are too predictable.
How about fulham ? Or bournemouth?
@@TwoieHarris we played 60 + minutes against Bournemouth with 10 men - how predictable did you want them to be ? And a point against a decent side like Fulham is no disgrace. We can't win every game you know ? Nobody does.
Are you really questioning Henry? Lol
The legend is right
community sheilds are participation trophies give me a break. get a striker win real trophies
If Martinelli keeps beeing our top left wing... forget about championships... fast player yes, but has no other rythm and maybe brainless player
Arteta the fraud out
My problem is, while you can talk like this why can they coach?
People are built with different talents!!
Theory is easier than practical
But Thierry did it all
You are apt, however he's not criticizing the coach but the player (winger), he himself being a terrific winger
It seems you don't know who is talking, that is Thiery Henry, go watch the tapes, him on that same wing. RBs worst nightmare, you never want to be 1v1 with Henry in that position, you are DEAD!
Get Martineli out of Arsenal useless player
Awful player
With all do respect I don't care what Henry says, I just hope Arsenal gets a striker and a winger this January.
So his analysis isn’t valid?
@@TJTOPBOY Arsenal fans man... this is so low. Thierry is actually giving a constructed critic and this guy complaining, SMH
@@nunobarcelos5809 I’ve been an Arsenal fan for 27 years and this club, albeit we are second, is in the gutter for me. The fanbase laud Arteta more than they ever did with Wenger.
Very uncreative set of players.
When there's no Saka on the pitch, Arsenal loses creativity.
Martineli is just another flop.
Haverts another player you shouldn't depend on as a striker.
For a team that wants to win big trophies and u depend on haverts as a striker. C'mon this Arsenal management is a joke.
1:23 this is what really pissed me off. I mean wtf was Zinchenko thinking!? 😡😡 That united midfielder already far too late to cut passing lane to Martinelli and Martinelli already free 1v1 against Dalot out wide, pass to him don't pass to half space man🤦♂🤦♂ if that pass is to Martinelli and not to Rice then Arsenal definitely would be a great position because Martinelli got even more options afterwards due to Rice make run to exploit the left half space. From there, Rice can cutback to centre
