Hi Lauren, I can 100% relate to this morning you had. I did exactly the same thing on the Hexatrek and it was probably the same storm. I packed up all my gear and was sat in my tent holding on for dear life. Was scary at the time but good memories. Now I’ve finished the Hexatrek I’m reliving the adventure through your videos. Interesting to see how different our Hexatrek hikes are even though it’s the same trail. That’s the beauty of thru-hiking 😊
Potato chip bags at altitude are funny. Quite the storm! Epic landscapes. Weird to imagine that those valleys and meandering creeks & rivers were created by glaciers crushing their way through there. Also, did you really make your hot chocolate with pasta water? That's disgusting!
Bonjour bonjour Lauren 😊 !!!!! Wouuuaaaah 😲 What an adventure !! This storm was crazy ⛈️🌪️ the poor tent held up well with the repairs 🤗! The videos are great fortunately the weather changes quickly 🤩 Ah ah huge the little stone on the cairn ⛰️
That marmot at 13:51 😍 These storms, I love the sound lying in my tent but the same time I hate the lack of sleep and the fear when it get's too rough. The first one in this video was insane.
I remember the path on the stones with water on both sides. So beautiful out there! You sure need a quiet night and walking against the wind is a pain. Biking against the wind is even worse. I always slept inside the refuges, much more comfortable.😊 Congratulations on hitting 1000km! 😊👍
Sleeping inside the refuges is wayyyy outside my budget for this trip haha plus they were completely full! It was a tiring few nights of not much sleep 😴
@@LaurenRoerick I can imagine. We would always go just for one week and book it in january already! 😁 I guess we were luxury hikers, but also 7 ladies over 50, haha, that was our excuse! 😁
Awesome video! That scene with the stacks of rocks might get you some hate mail: nothing separates hikers faster than a pile of rocks... But I thought it was great!
WOW! Storms in alpine regions are not to be underestimated! Even a large amount of snow in the middle of summer is possible. Good thing you and all the others got out of there in one piece! Super good UL tent! The question of how you got there I can answer 😁. Did you find answers to the other questions?
Yep anything is possible out there! Sometimes you just get stuck without good camping options in the national parks tho! Still working on those answers haha
Wonderful lanscapes and really great video, with music well chosen too However i don’t want to taste your coffee with pasta water 😂 When do you think (or wish) you will finish this adventure ? Best wishes
Wowza! That vlog was incredible all around, the scenery is amazing and those storms looked insane. Bad weather aside I'm trying to figure out how I can get myself on stage 2 of the Hexatrek!!
What a storm. I'm glad your tent survived! Those chickens were cute! What hot meals do you usually use? I suppose you don't always find freezedryed meals along the way in the smaller supermarkets. You must be well into the Pyrenees right now! All the best! Kaat
@@LaurenRoerick wow, congratulations! I'll be in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-port around the 6th of October, but you'll be gone by then. Otherwise I would loved to see you and pay you a drink! I'm starting the 2nd part of my bike trip to Compostela in October. I have still about 5 to 6 days left in France. The countdown has started for me now! 😊 Enjoy the last part!
You mentioned a journal on your last video. Have you ever thought of writing a book on all of your adventures? It would be about things that don't fit in your videos. I'm sure you have a lot of stories that don't fit into the videos. it could be an extra source of income anyway. It's a great video, as always. I can't believe your tent has held up. If I were the tent company, you would definitely be the spokesperson for them
I would absolutely love to write a book - it’s on my list of long term goals :) there’s so much that goes on behind the scenes. And yes everyone should tell big Agnes I need a sponsor 😂
I saved up for a year, then I put all of my stuff in storage, rented my apartment out, rented my car out, and then have a very tight budget on trail. It’s much cheaper to live in a tent than in Vancouver haha
My very best congratulations on your achievement! Courage, courage, as they say in France. You are one of the few hikers from overseas who have conquered this trail so far, you can be proud of that. Live on the impressions and experiences and recover well! Hope to see you sometime and somewhere on a trail (maybe on the NST?). Greetings from BRD.
@@LaurenRoerick Yeah, that`s great! You can become the first north american to complete the german long distance trail as well (sorry, just doing a little advertising😁)
Digital high five to Lauren and

Thank you!!

Wow what a storm. Great video. Such a spectacular place 🙏🏔😊

your best video yet! epic adventure
Glad you enjoyed it!
Between the storms , this is the best video. It's so beautiful. This is my next thru hike. ❤
Thank you! And yes I would absolutely recommend it!
Such a great video. Very well made. Good quality. Amazing views. Thank you for taking us on this adventure with you!

They’re so cute! And yes I love the sound of the rain when it’s mild but hate the wind that sounds like it’s going to rip my tent open!

Good job 👏

It’s a field of cairns that I think was started for a purpose, but yeah just random cairns are very controversial haha 😆
Top tes vidéos se sont améliorées depuis ton départ 👍
Thank you!!
You really like that ratatouille! 😅
Excellent and entertaining. Enjoying following your journey. Those storms were brutal! Appreciate your work and you.👏✨
Thank you!! Someone accused me of faking the storm with a flashlight and bucket of water 😂😂 who has time for that?!
@@LaurenRoerick Really. People can be nutz.

Haha it’s hot chocolate, not coffee! Which for some reason makes it acceptable in my mind haha.
I finished the trail last week!!

I usually make pasta or ramen, the freeze dried meals are too expensive.

Nice job editing again. Those storms were insane! I like seeing the different landscapes for awhile it looked like you were walking on the moon tho
Thank you! Yes that storm was a bad one!
And I continue to be amazed at how quickly the landscape changes!
Hello! :))
Hello! Haha
@@LaurenRoerick I miss the trail so much. How it is in the Pyrenees?
@CezarOutdoors Aw I bet! The Pyrenees are amazing! You should do the HRP one day
@@LaurenRoerick next year will be HRP or Italian Alps...I havent decided yet.
@CezarOutdoors oooh either would be amazing!
Hi Lauren, what is the comfort rating on your sleeping bag?
Is it warm enough?
Thanks.
It’s very warm! Honestly it’s probably too warm, but I didn’t want to spend money on another one. It’s a 10°F quilt

Man that looked hairy for a bit, well done keeping your shit together😂. You deserve a zero or two after that👏👏
Hahah it was actually pretty nerve wracking! But I’m glad I got thru it :)
hot chocolate with water from boiled pasta....holy
Haha yeah a trick I carried over from the pct- to conserve water and fuel
And? km3034?
Done and dusted!
