I have started randomly with Indus valley civilisation video-1, continued 2 and 3 because of interest, and today I realised that u have a huge series, and I AM going to watch all of them :)
This Lecture series is a treasure. I dint' expect I could ever listen to a lecture from Sir Michel Danino himself. Lucky IIT kanpur students. Lucky me to find this in youtube. The way it's explained and portrayed so objectively and unbiased is remarkable. IIT Kanpur, a BIG THANKS for uploading, though the audio quality could have been better handled in other videos!
Car ! You called Michel Danino a European. But in this lecture at the end he recalls a village in Tamilnadu as his village. I wouldn't say that he is an ethnic Tamilian. He might be one of those Anglo-Indian families, keeping themselves aloof & isolated from mainstream ethnic Indians- most worked in Indian Railways, living in Railway colonies. India is a mind-boggling quilt work of all the dominant ethnic groups of the world.
There were few TVs when Ramanyan was telecast during late 80's. I remember flocking the Govt. buildings of our town along with my siblings to watch it along with couple hundred together standing. We used to walk few kms for that serial ;-)
I have watched all the 3 videos from before and m going through all of them in series but I have to say that for some reason this is the one that made me emotional.
I salute you DANINO as you have done the great work to make ourselves be sure of our history and culture, when many of us so called the intellectual are right behind it
Jawahar lal Nehru and Tagore were students under British occupation of India, who destroyed Indian education system to introduce theirs with distorted Indian history.
Sukalpa ! Jambu phala is the modern day Jamun. In Lutyen's (New) Delhi every street/road is planted with a single species of tree. Jamun was planted around the Connaught Circle & not without a reason, I presume- Jambudwipa.
I'm very interested in the content and have watched previous lectures and will watch all successive ones. Very good so far. The thing I find quite annoying though is his accent...I'm from Indian heritage (obviously) but this is just... is he actually exaggerating his accent? Just talk normal man!
if you checked his first 3 lectures he mentioned he is currently staying in india in Tamil Nadu in Coimbatore. If one is staying in a India for around 10 years then obviously his accent also changes automatically to Indian accent.
He has a fantastic accent and he is a Frenchman who grew up in India ... Love his pronunciation of Sanskrit words and the care he takes in speaking. He's doing something none of you clowns are doing or can do - so let's learn respect and humility shall we?
Michel Danino was praising the Democratic values of India. In a society infested with caste separation where all are not born equal how can you say that they have Democratic values?

Professor Michel Danino is one of the most astonishing scholar of India

The irony is that while the Indian identity was stolen by Europeans, we are again receiving this back through another European.

Michel Danino was born in France, but has been in India since 1977 and has been an Indian citizen for decades. About time we called him Indian, eh? :)

Actually he is talking about a time when there was no caste system like today,,it is much the product of colonialism to break our society
Watch vinay lal lectures along with these lectures then concept will become clearer.
