The more I got into candles the harder it got and more complicated. I did it on and off for 2 years, starting with 464 which I ended up hating because of the frosting, inconsistency etc. then started making candles for friends, family and clients. I then took a step up and went in it more seriously. I spent 3 months straight testing and perfecting just 3 fragrances in one single vessel with coconut wax. So happy with the outcome - I now know I can sell them and they wont ignite, jar wont break, hot throw will be amazing and burn will be perfect. It took so much to get there tho.
@@mh-jj5sl tbh it’s been a slow process. Testing has taken a lot longer and been harder then I thought. There’s so many variables you don’t realise that can change the final product. Back to the drawing board has become my motto.
I'm starting with wax melts only and go from there. I have watched a lot of videos. I feel I've done my research and already testing which will take me at least 2 months till I'm ready to sell . I have gotten family and friends to help me with testing. I have also contacted places to set up my wax melts to sell in their small business. I definitely spent more than I planned but I feel I will be good when I do launch. I went with melts because the overhead is lower with wax melts. The wax melts that don't work as well as I want I am going to re heat and probably put them into candles.
Thank you for all of your awesome videos! In part two, it would be great to hear about some of the basics of what to do when you start selling candles (LLC? Insurance? CPA? Quick Books? Attorney to help with set up? License?) I am just getting to the point that I feel that I am good enough to start selling, and am a bit lost on what to do first.
Hey Jeff! Would you consider getting some Mexican themed fragrances? Some examples would be horchata, Churro, Dulce de leche, Fried Ice Cream and so on, looking forward to your response! 🙏❤️
Happy new year standley! Candle making is so not easy… To be honest I’m always in fear of how to improve this process. Can you please do a future video of nice/safe flame heights for candles and how hot is too hot of a candle glass? Also if a candle flame dances or flickers quite a bit , what is safe and what isn’t? Thanks!
I can't tell you how many candles ive made just testing wicks let alone letting candles cure for a week or two, I'm still testing but I am having fun plus I say it's for science lol
Hi Geoff absolutely love your tutorials they’re the only ones I watch. Some of my candles are turning out with a yellow tinge after curing and some yellowing after time. Can you please advise me how to prevent this or fix it? I don’t know why it’s happening 🤔 thank you 🙏

Hello i have so many questions i just started making candles and have run into some problems ive watched alot of your videos that have given me solutions thanks so much foe your videos. Do you have classes available?
I'm gathering up all of the information I can from your videos to start my own candle business and I haven't seen you mention what products you use for your labels besides the printers you suggest. Can you give me any recommendations?
Thanks Jeff, my question comes in when it comes to the candle scent. I'm thinking of starting the candle business as well. What time should I include the paraffin to the soy wax.
Test until they work, that could be a month and some people tested a year. If you’re testing multiple wicks and oil percentages and testing as much as you can you should have a good candle with in a month or two.
I'm just getting started and I'm having trouble with tunneling. I'm trying to use soy wax in mason jars. I've tried two different size wicks so far. Any tips?
Hey Jeff, What would you recommend for a 4627 blend candle? The vessel that I’m using requires double wicking at a 3.75in inner diameter. It looks like LX 14 work, but they are drowning a bit. Should I go for two 16s?
Hi. I have an UNUSUAL question. One of my clients cracked a little bit of the bottom of the jar. After that, the wax started to melt there and on the surface without lighting it up and without any other heat. It was just the normal room temperature. And whatsoever, the others candles that came with same order were just fine. Can you tell me what is the explanation of this because in my 3 years of candle making I never came across this kind of situation and I don’t know what to do or to tell her. Thank you
I've tested a few candles but there's little to no Hot throw, and there's tiny air bubbles forming on the surface near the wicks. I'm using 2 wicks on a 3.5". The cold throw is there but once lid I'm disappointed. I'm getting a little discouraged. I'm using a coconut, soy, palm wax. I've added FO at 179, 175, 184 Degrees. I've increased FO from 7 to 8 to now 9%. Will waiting 2 weeks really make a difference? 1 week is not enough for good Hot throw? Also I'm getting some minor thin cracks on the tops barely noticeable at an angle but is it do to pouring temperatures and the wax been blended with soy? Is the poor Hot throw a wax, FO (Makesy), temperature problem, all or what? Been on UA-cam 2+ watching candle videos and reading online but I'm lost at the lack of Hot throw. Was expecting more from coconut wax even if it's a blend wax. Thank you if you can help.

Can anybody help please? 🕯 I make pillar candles using a soy & Parrafin wax blend in a plastic mold. I believe I'm pouring at the right temperature around 76c, however when the candle sets a slight gap forms on one of the walls of the mold. Then when I take the candle out there is a concave hole on the side of the candle. Sometimes this doesn't happen but it seems so inconsistent! Any ideas why? Thank you
I really like your channel I use the 8oz jars and I’m new of course and I took your advice and got the 464 soy from candle science fragrance and wicks cd 12 and I poured at 180 in 2lbs of wax and they have been cured for about 2 weeks and I lit a love spell yesterday and it’s been burning all night and I can’t smell anything I’ve messed up a whole bag of 464 please help me I really wanna be a candle maker thanks Stan
I can't help you very much cuz I'm not an expert. But I would tell you that 180 is too high a temperature to pour your candles esp soy wax candles. It should be somewhere around 125-130. Good luck in your candle making!
No problem. I've also heard of people pouring at around 165 too. It's really whatever works for you. But I have been instructed that it has less sinkholes and frosting etc. when its poured at a lower temp. Good luck and God bless
How do I clean out hardened wax, that I've found a math error on, so I need to toss the wax and keep the container. ?? Advice? Do I just put the container in boiling water?
Hello...I have taken the leap after 4 or 5 months of research. I made my 1st batch of candles. Not as easy as it looks. I had some unevenness to the top of my soy wax 415. One or 2 cotton wicks had a very small hole next to it. And it appears to me, that there may be air to the side of the jar. Like it has loosened. And I have no scents from the essential oils I used. Tips please!

Was curious how to find a place to mass produce candles rather than just making them at home? Do you have any tip and tricks on finding a lab?

How long should your candles sit before selling
I let mine sit 3-5 days depending on wax. Some people will let theirs sit for up to two weeks.
